- I have been loving my journey with Chester Bennington and Linkin Park, but you all called it on this one. This cover song of Adele's by Chester is absolutely magnificent (have I mentioned that I adore Adele?) Chester truly gets to show off his wings in this one, and I'm absolutely here for it!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Linkin Park covering Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" for the first time.

The live version of Crawling from the One More Light Tour really shows emotion that Chester can pour out on stage and it's backed by a haunting piano background by Mike Shinoda. Definitely worth checking out.
One of my favorites
Or pushing me away piano version
@@bobtheburger1984 Thats another good one
one more light breaks me everytime 😭
This is what I was going to comment, too.
The fact that he did this after 1 hour of screaming and heavy songs and still nailed it...is beyond amazing
screaming when done right, doesn't do anything to your voice.
@@pepebeans3262 incorrect, it still wears out your vocal cords, while you are correct if you do it correctly it doesn’t effect you as much
@@TheHisenBurg411 how does it wear out your vocal cords? when fry screaming, like chester did a lot, if used correctly the vocal cords don't even touch each other, fry screaming is literally just air going through a very tiny breach that you do with ur vocal cords, this being said, sounding good doesn't mean you are doing it correctly which some people might not understand, a7x singer did a lot fry scream incorrectly which is why nowadays his voice sounds tired and horsed whilst chester did use fry scream even more than the a7x singer, and still sounded great wether singing clean or using screamo.
I still miss this Man. Very much.
@@gerardkrige875 chester not only had such a good screamo, and a very healthy one, but his clean vocals were sooooo fcking goooood aswell, pure raw talent .
Chester to me is one of the best vocalist of his time. His singing is passionate but raw, intense yet painful.
100% also there's not a lot of people who can pull of every song they do. But chester could do literally anything.
Him and Layne.
Yes ...Of ALL TIME I'd say. I've never seen someone who could Sing like an Angel and Scream like a demon. If we just hear him speak normally we'd never believe he could be a lead vocalist to Linkin Park , where he sounds like a beast.
Chester had a lot of dynamic vocals and was a powerhouse, but I hardly think he's one of the best vocalists. He has bad pitch in every live video I have watched and in this video he had breath control issues. I felt it was due to unfamiliarity with the song since I haven't seen it in other live performances, but it still highlights that he is not a vocal god that some people think he is. Wonderful singer and fun to listen to. Not one of the best vocalists of his time.
@@contumelious-8440 depends on the era, after he fucked up his voice post '07 it was still good but not like the old days, but he got amazing days, like, rock am ring 2001,house of blues 2001, projekt revolution 2002,live in texas 2003,monterrey 2012, peru 2017, download festival 2014 rock am ring 2004,rock am ring 2007,fillmore 2001, live 8 2005, stone temple pilots 2013, etc etc
still it doen't mean he didnt have bad days, like his performances post 2014-2017 (despite recovering his voice a bit in 2017)
something I absolutely believe that every Linkin Park fan can honestly say is that, what we love about them is just how absolutely RAW the emotion is, and looking back that is what brought a lot of us to them, we may not have know it at the time, but I can say with absolute sincerity that the pure and raw emotion that Chester puts into everything he did....it hit something primal and drew me to them.
i feel you ...
Absolutely. One thing I’ve always loved about Chester is that he let his emotions drive his voice instead of pitch perfect standards.
Could not have put it better. Saw Chester front Stone Temple Pilots and he put all of his emotion into Scott's stuff. Dude always gave his all.
RIP Chester, Chris and Scott.
YES! Can’t tell you how amazing it is to see you diving into more Linkin Park, more specifically Chester. Some performances you definitely need to check out are Faint live 2007 at Rock Am Ring and their song Qwery live 2006 in Tokyo Summer Sonic. Amazing displays of Chester’s talent.
Qwerty please... and Little Things Give You Away from Clarkston, Projekt Revolution 2007, too. Thank you for making our days better Elizabeth!
yes, those two live performances should be a starting point in my opinion :)! both are showing what this man can do with his voice...amazing.
YES PLEASE!!
Qwerty blows my mind with ability to switch from scinging to just singing
Yesssss
If you want to check out more LinkinPark, I can only recommend the live versions of "One more Light" and "Crawling" as well as their song "the Messenger". Oh, and if you want to check out Mike Shinoda singing with Chester, "Iridescent" is probably a good choice.
Elizabeth definitely should listen to a Mike and Chester duetto. Great songs from Linkin Park's earliest days! But I agree, One More Light, Crawling and the Messenger are great examples of Chester's emotional performances 🥺
i recommend the messenger... but the others are all great too... oh and My december
@@valiumke1 yes
Only the two live tracks if you’re calling for tears!
Invisible, too.
God called on Chester and he said, "Do you want the voice of an Angel or a Demon?" Chester replied, "yes please"
"Little things gave you away" is one of the most underrated LP songs, I highly recommend it, especially the live version, as all Linkin Park songs should be listened like this
Agree! Milton Keynes version is underrated
@@AshenSamarakoon that is good, but i prefer Earth Japan version :D
Live version of Clarkston is The Best version of that song. However, if you miss the intro, you miss everything.
I think Milton Keynes is better then that one. One live in Lisbon wasn't bad neither
The saddest part is that she misses the intro. And Little Things Give You Away builds a great intro. Live in Clarkston and Live in Milton Keynes are such great examples. LiC having almost perfect guitar parts by Brad makes it more soothing to hear.... And to sleep... And to die...
Chesters voice on Pushing Me Away (LIVE) at Milton Keynes haunts me. It is truly one of the best showcases of his voice. Trust me you will not be disappointed by reacting to their performance. They completely strip the song down & take it from a full on rock song & turn it into a beautiful ballad.
Was there for that!
I had never heard this song “Pushing Me Away” sung this way, like a ballad……it is beautiful, I cried….his voice is so beautiful and you are right, it does showcase how incredible he is……I shut my eyes during part of it and I truly was blown away……I love Linkin Park and Chester and have heard MANY of their songs and watched many live videos but I think I have to say that this has to be my favorite, I mean Chester’s voice is, it’s just I have never heard a voice like his EVER and I never will again and I’m saying this in 2022…….his voice is haughting 😢❤️🙏🏻
Yes agreed
@@Streety182 Me too!
Yes! Incredible performance
This is almost difficult to listen to. It's such a beautiful emotional song and to be coming from Chester it makes it that much more heartbreaking considering his situation. Another song that will hit you right in the feels listening to in hindsight is Chester and Chris Cornell performing Crawling live. I first heard that while they both were still alive and thought wow they do well together, today that song gets a complete different reaction from me.
As a matter of fact I have a few minutes left to my lunch break and I'm going to listen to that again now.
I completely understand. It's a punch to the gut. Chester was, is, a beautiful soul, which is incapable of perishing...he connects on a Spiritual level rarely successful with many...we got him✌💜🙏
YES YES YES!! I was thinking the same..that was one amazing point in the life of music!
@@travisr4057 So emotional right now. I'm not sure if I can watch this.
@@travisr4057 Chester is one of my soul mates 🙏💜✌
I’m so happy you did this. Unmatched voice. RIP Chester
You should really check out Linkin Park's Jimmy Kimmel, live performances of One More Light, that he dedicated to Chris Cornell. He's definitely putting his heart out, there is a section at the end that Chester can't sign a couple words through the tears.
This is one of their most emotional performances ever. One of my fav live performances ever by any band
scrolled down looking for this one i was gonna do it myself if it wasnt already here!!
This is emotional but not a good performance in itself. Nothing technically impressive.
@@AnHeC I'm sorry, but if you think singing is jus about being technical , you just don't get it....
Just commented for this too his scream in that is haunting
I said it before and I'll say it again. Chester was the friend we all wish we knew but had through his music. The kind of friend that recognised the struggles we were going through and would have done anything to help because he could relate.
If he was missing a lung or his vocal cords he would still have got up and given the best and most sincere performance because that what he done and how he knew to reach people.
It was so emotional. Like he wasn't singing it for the audience, that was purely for him and for whatever healing he needed in that moment. Man, still brings me to tears thinking about him being gone. I am watching this at work and crying. Good thing the people I work with know I am an extremely emotional being and they are used to it.
There is actually a longer version of this video, Chester starts singing in the wrong key and Mike stops and tells him and Chester instantly changes key to match the song and it's so crazy how he can change key so easily! Love the LP videos
Some people are born with the talent of hearing a song and knowing it exactly what key it is and they can match it or change it at will. I personally can do it as well but my voice is no where close to his
@DelcosFinest 20 years on guitar, pianno, violin, drums and a few others because I discovered at 8 i had perfect pitch. It's almost like visualizing sound instantaneously.
@@Ole_CornPop exactly. I wish I stayed with my vocal and guitar coaches because I could really utilize that skill. I feel like it's wasted on me. Kinda wish I could give it to somebody who could use it. I can always sing a song with the exact pitch from memory and my friends always wonder how. It's a great party trick lol
Link pls?
@@ffeliziani It's the same video, she just starts at a different time stamp.
Now I wanna hear Adele sing "One Step Closer"..
There's something really moving for me about an entire crowd singing with any artist. It makes me super emotional.
Oh man, one of my favourite covers! You're gonna love this one 😄
Really hope you'll cover Waiting for the End by Linkin Park as well, amazingly diverse and emotional song.
There's so much more of his work I haven't tapped into yet, I'm quite excited!
"The Messenger" is the one that always kicks me in the heart, great vocals and great message
@@TheCharismaticVoice 30 Seconds to Mars covering Rihanna’s Stay is another solid cover.
@@gravija666 this one always gives me chills!!! Pretty amazing what he could do
Once you pay attention to these lyrics and understand what documentary he and Chris Cornell were working on and why.. then realize they were murdered and didn’t commit suicide and why... ugh the tears just keep coming!
This truly shows Chester's vast range of emotion and technique.
Such a truly sad loss to music and humanity!!
Chester was one of a kind!!
I saw them 4 times before his passing.
No celebrity passing hit me as hard, it felt like an arrow in my chest.
This man helped an entire generation of troubled feeling teens come to deal with demons and move forward.
His voice will forever live in my head of his powerful and just understanding of pain people needed. He did that for US and he was lost too soon and the world is missing one of the most powerful voices.
You are so lucky
I saw them 2 time and I feel the same way
As someone who deals with crippling depression I still can't believe Chester ended his own life. The man transmuted his pain and that showed in his musical career. Whatever shame Chester held onto I'd forgive him. The man's a hero for so many of us.
Since you're diving into Linkin Park, "One More Light" is something you should check out, the emotions Chester poured into that song can bring someone to tears
Qwerty too. They only did it live, but its another truly amazing performance
Every time I hear One More Light i bawl my eyes out
i just watched one more light live on jimmy kimmel and can't stop tearing up
Mike's version of One More Light is just lit 🔥🔥🔥
Actually, Adele does that a lot. In the most emotional moments of her songs she likes to be every so slightly off the pitch, and we all know that she can do it. The result is, at least in my mind, that it helps to make the listener understand the struggle. The pain is so much to bear. And that makes it so much easier to feel the music.
It didn't help that the audience singing along with him was pitchy too. The two clashing is more than likely what she was hearing.
Once I saw this “Screams like a devil. Sings like an angel", and this is absolutely true.
He was the most powerful singer of my generation.
Chester was always eloquently inelegant and it makes me smile when I hear something like this. It was tragic when we lost him, and he is missed.
This performance was INCREDIBLE. There will never be a voice as powerful as Chester's. RIP legend 😢
So goood! And they only did it once before at a Summit (Fan event) that weekend and only just learned the song. Chester is even reading the lyrics of the last verse a lot on a sheet down below. They just went for it on the fly.... And it made up for such an incredible moment.
Chester possessed one of the greatest voices of a generation. R.I.P. 💙
Legit miss him so much. Can't help but get a bit emotional, but at the same time smile, because he has well and truly left his mark. Rip Chester. We miss you.
His acapella versions of his songs live sound so good it gives you chills.
Chester is my most favorite singer, of any genre, of all time. It makes me sad every time I hear him knowing the amount of new music we may hear is either limited or just none existent. His new song with his original band Grey Daze brought back so much reminiscence as well. RIP.
I love all of the Grey Daze music! Morei Sky and Spin are the 2 I’m listening to the most right now.
Have you heard of Dead By Sunrise? Chester was the lead singer in that band as well. He also did some stuff with Stone Temple Pilots.
Chester had an amazing voice. We lost him way too soon. RIP Chester, thank you for everything.
For a long time I stopped listening to Linkin Park because I thought I had "outgrown" them. Which in a way is true - I had grown out of the way that I related to their music. Now that I'm older and have matured out of the me that thought one just passes on their favorite bands at certain stages of life I've really come to appreciate that raw, soul-baring quality of Chester's singing. "Cathartic" is absolutely the word for it.
I know this is an older vid and comment, but just found her channel recently. I feel kind of the same way. There was a period of my life where Chester and Linkin Park really spoke to me and helped me out of a really dark time. Then for several years I rarely listened to them unless I heard them on the radio. But the moment I heard of Chester's passing it felt like I'd been shot. I got back into their music and found that not only did I appreciate the lyrics, but also his amazing voice. I don't think I've ever heard anyone sing so beautifully well while conveying like you said that raw emotion. It is very cathartic.
I miss chester so much. Every word he sang you felt it in your soul.
As someone that actively avoids comment sections and well, any kind of face on social media... I do want to thank you so much for your delicate and intimate take on Chester's music. He was the voice that needed heard.
Thank you for your wonderful reaction. I miss Chester's music soo much. Amazing talent and a devastating loss to his loved ones and also to everyone who lived his music with him. I pray you are at peace now, Chester Bennington. God bless.
Gosh, the Chester breakdowns really just hit home in so many ways. I know myself and so many on this page and around the world felt him in a way that few have gotten to since. RIP you beautiful man.
I have never heard him sing this song. How gorgeous! Amazing!!! Miss you, Chester!
You do the Best Reactions in whole Internet 👑🙏🔝👍
Aww, thank you Matt!
Yes she gives good face! *starts humming Madonna's Vogue* "… They had style, they had grace
Rita Hayworth gave good face...”
I'm gonna recommend Volbeat - Sad Man's Tongue. One of the most unique sounding voices in metal in my opinion. His voice almost doesn't sound like it fits with metal but it works really well.
RIP Chester! You're singing always moved me.
Tears.... that's how good.... everytime.
All these years and we yet grieve. RIP Chester
Chester absolutely knocked this out of the park. Not many male voices at all could've pulled off this particular song.
Growing up I didn't listen to too much Linkin Park, and that makes me sad kinda sorta, but in my older years (or what feels like them), I'm glad I listen to them now. Most genres of music have a good sense of comradery in the fanbase or community but I feel bands like LP, we're all connected. Kinda sorta feels like coming home.
Rip Chester, he had so much pain and darkness from being constantly bothered by the voices in his head. Mental illness is such a hard thing to deal with, but he pushed through and left something behind to be remembered.
My favorite vocalist of all-time. I really loved your point about his innate intensity because it is that exact quality of his voice that resonates with me so much. I would give anything to be able to sing with the same intensity and power as Chester even just for a single day. Wish he were still with us.
I am just impressed by audience clapping and yelling chorus with Chester. It sounds so full and beautiful.
Omg this song is so good, Chester nailed it! 🖤
God….it’s the way I love his version more than the original. The way his voice reaches in and strokes your very soul is both amazing and terrifying. The first time I heard this I burst into tears. The fact that Chester’s is no longer on this earth still crushes me to this day. 💔💔
Great to see you doing this one Elizabeth. I found it a few months ago. Chester R.I.P. did a great job covering this song.
I really miss him. He will never know how much he helped me.
So is Rolling in the Deep what happens when you trip while running up that hill?
On a serious note, Chester is awesome, and I always enjoy your reactions to him. Let's keep his memory alive! 🤘❤🔥
Rolling in the deep sugests more falling in murky water wearing weavy clothing and having to doff it in a hurry. Oops, sorry for the dark imagery... 🙄🙄
@@luisnunes3863 It's dark, but it is on point.
The live performance of one more light that gets me is the one he did right after Chris Cornell died and tributed to Chris. Chester broke up at the end . It hurts my heart every time
Ah me too 😢
Absolutely amazing from an absolutely amazing Chester ! 😮
100% fit for an Elizabeth Analysis! Let's start, Elizabeth, with a deep dive into the Rolling Deep! 💯👍
I watched this live in a parking lot on the iTunes Festival app and it holds a special place in my heart all these years later. My favorite Chester performance and one of my favorite performances ever. They were live in London and they played it for the local crowd.
In 2003 Linkin Park released a live in Texas album and cd pack. The last song they play is “One Step Closer”. It’s absolutely amazing. I watched the entire concert at least once a week for a year. RIP Chester 🥺
I listen to that live show, still. That, Monterrey and Nottingham.
Genuinely one of the best vocalists ever! Super talented and always loved🫶🏻
The rasp - he's able to go full power as clean as a whistle when he wants (The Little Things Give You Away, Powerless are good examples). His ability to effortlessly interject levels of rasp into his voice like a form of manual distortion to build and distinguish sections of a song is pretty much second to none, a true vocal genius, that will forever be missed.
chester always poured his heart into everything. rip. i hope you found the peace you could not in life...
I’ve been to many concerts in my life… I’ve been singing my entire life, and one of the artists I cover best IS Adele. So this is said with all the reverence I have for her incredible music… No one was a more incredible and giving performer than Chester. He will be forever missed by this LP megafan.
The first live performance of One More Light after the passing of Chris Cornell is beautiful and heart wrenching. There’s a scream in there that you can see come the deepest pain in Chester.
Linkin Park - Faint (Rock am Ring 2007) is one of his best performances ever.
If you want a 2 in one video, I really recommend Crawling/HHH live ft Chris Cornell. Chris actually comes in and surprises Chester in this performance, and then they harmonize together it's perfect.
Chester's last live performance of one more light is definitely worth a listen, I'd be surprised if it didn't make you cry! You are insanely beautiful by the way 🙉
thank you for letting me borrow your lambo that one time! you are a legend
Thanks for paying my dogs vet bill, you saved his life. You are the man Jay!
a live performance of NUMB is also great
Thanks for saving my grandma from that house fire bro, I owe ya!
Chester absolutely had an amazing voice. Especially in this song. One of a kind
This is the one cover that really spoke to me about how good Chester was as a vocalist.
This is one of thee most beautiful performances I’ve ever heard. RIP CB ❤
Chester, one of the best voices of all times. RIP.
One More Light, the original version with the video will make you sink in your tears
Wow, I've never heard Chester singing this before. Wow, and wow, and for good measure, WOW.
Love & miss you Chester. You are singing with the angels now. See you in the next life, brother.
The Song gives me instantly goosebumps- it is so beautiful. This Version is beautiful. Miss Chester and the Guys 🖤
I am SO thankful that you viewed this one! I hadn't seen, then you reminded me it existed❤️💗❤️💗
You absolutely have to here one more light live on the jimmy kimmel show. The performance came shortly after chris Cornell’s passing. You can feel the emotion in Chester more than ever especially towards the end of the song. The other band members even mentioned sometime later that during rehearsals Chester couldn’t even get through half the song multiple tries up until very close to the show, but still managed to absolutely kill it on stage.
She reads chester like a book and that's fascinating and intense at the same time
This is an INSANE performance. Can’t wait :)
Chester singing One More Light might be too emotional of a video.
If im not mistaken that was his last live show before his untimely death. And the ammount of emotion in that song you can hear what the true voice of depression sound like.
And now I wanna see her analyze it even more. Given how emotional and powerful of a performance that it was, it makes it all the more memorable. To be clear, its their Jimmy Kimmel Live performance of One More Light.
@@steveo619sd yeah he sang it right after chris died. so you can hear the emotion
I love seeing people discover Linkin Park and falling in love with Chester's voice. It also saddens me because they will never be able to experience a live in person concert of Linkin Park. I was lucky to have seen them several times live and it's memories I will always treasure.
I know it's because of my Bias towards LP, but I think he was one of the most talented singers of his era. Not because of range or vocal talent, though he had it in spades, it's because he poured so much emotion into things and its heart breaking so much more now. He died but his voice echos forever. #MakeChesterProud
He did a rad job covering this song.
I love to hear Chester again (beside the songs I have on my storage). Now from your channel and this brings me tears of joy. I am hyped for your reaction.
Chester is an universe, it will take us longer to get to know him completely.
I'm a big fan of "When they come for me" by LP - you get a lot of different musical roles and vocal style, get to hear both Mike and Chester doing their stuff, and it's over 6 minutes to boot :)
Yes!!
a thousand suns is their best and more spaced out album
One of my fav songs right now...
everytime i watch anything of chester singing live, the emotion he manages to portray is captivating. Always has me close to tears everytime!
I remember recommending this one a looooooong time ago a couple of times. SO glad you’re doing this one! Looking forward to this one a lot.
July 10th 2021 my best friend took his life. The first song I heard after his death was One More Light. Since that day when I hear Chester's voice I cry 😢
Linkin Park is such a huge part of my childhood. Hybrid Theory was one of the first albums I owned, I used to listen to that album all the time while I was going to the cabin with my family. 2 hour drive and I was always asking my parents to play and repeat In The End and Sonne by Rammstein. I was too young to know english but I did my best to sing along!
Looking forward to this reaction. Chester had a lot of emotion in his singing, which is understandable considering who he was as a person.
P.S. If you get the chance, please check out Means End - Nox Aurumque!!! The band disbanded after their first album and never got any real attention so this won't be a "popular" request. But I'm quite certain both you and the audience will love it! It's basically "prog metal takes on opera", a collaboration of sorts with Eric Whitacre who composed the original Nox Aurumque.
Chester singing Hallejuah at chris cornells funeral is also another beautiful showing of chester wonderful voice
I truly feel robbed of this man's existence, but happy to experience him since my teenage years, me making 9 of 13 songs, Linkin Park songs, on the CD I made for my best funeral exactly 1 year from Meteora debuting (RIP: ML 3/25/04,) to watching them live at American Airline Arena in Dallas... I mourned the loss of Chester in a way it's very hard to describe. I can't imagine how his family, including 6 kids, feel robbed of something so beautiful, yet so torn. Damn you Chris Cornell
His Pain + Song Pain = ALLLLLL THEEEE PAAAIIIIINNNNNNN!!!!!!!! RIP Chester
There are clips out there of this cover done backstage with just Mike on an acoustic guitar and Chester unplugged!
Miss Chester ❤️🥺
Thank you thank you thank you for analyzing this one on behalf of myself and others!! I'll admit i had a mini excited freak out when I saw this video pop up lol, and I think it's the first time I've seen Elizabeth forget to pause, because Chester's performance is just absoultly mesmerizing lol. Love the channel, and love the positivity, it really brightens everyone's days, and we all need that bit of joy sometimes, thank you so much!!
11:38 - Chills when the audience comes in. Just proof that genre is irrelevant, brilliance is brilliance.
The Little Things Give You Away would be a great one to do! Very emotional and powerful song!
Cannot recommend Crawling from the One More Light tour enough, just him and a new piano again surrounded by fans and was filmed only a few weeks before his passing, always makes me cry!
speaking as someone that used 2 work in the studio with Him, he used 2 sing for his local choir
What a loss.... I can't even imagine what he'd brought twenty years down the road.
When they were on Jimmy Kimmel, they sang One More Light, his voice broke several times. So did I. It's worth a watch.
The conversation about not having perfect pitch but being perfect singing to show the emotion really reminds me of "The Messenger". Which I highly recommend
Just doing this song on a live and recorded set tells you the level of his talent especially in the middle of a Lincon Park concert
This is like watching a movie with director commentary on .... Okay going to the original song video to listen to it in peace and on repeat.
