    This brings up so much memories from when we walked from Nikkaloukta to Abisko, especially the moment when you enter a normal road again and walked through the "tunnel" up to Abisko tourist station. It was indeed weird after several days out in the wild with nothing on your mind except perhaps your next meal or the sound of your footsteps.
    Thanks for your videos Ted and keep up the great work.

      @@TedWeirum hmmm. As much as I love gear it was kinda refreshing to watch a set of videos that more than anything was an emotional journey rather than “oh hai guys I’m using the ultrafire 9000 extreme here”. The rawness and emotion you put on display put right back to when we do long exercises at work. Very immersive. Really the only thing I think I would have like to see more of were little tips and tricks, like in the last (or maybe second to last) video where you explained the pros and cons to selecting a camp site near a stream. Practical stuff like that. Explaining your reasoning behind choices you made etc.

    Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
    After my first attempt at a real trek in 2029 I had plans to start doing more treks, longer distances, further from home, but then covid happend and not only the travel was much nore difficult but the fysical and mental health I needed to built up for something like that were in short supply for large parts of the last two years.
    Despite that seeing your stuff does keep that desire to go out and have adventures alive in me.

    Hi Ted. First of all, congrats for the amazing achievement! After watching all the trail videos with some deeper thought and seeing some of the high and low moments, one question particularly came in mind what I find interesting. You said you did this for yourself (which is great BTW) and wanted to challenge your body and mind. Now after time has passed, do you find more or less irritating how people tend to complain about smallest things in everyday life? :D For sure after that experience and challenge, you see things now differently. :)

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  2 года назад +1

      thank you! I found that irritating for a loooong time now, but I catch myself there at times too, that's why doing a thing like this can really remind you how good we actually have it! :) good point!

    What kind of training regime you had for your legs to have enough stamina and ability to withstand the continuous beating of these hard trails?
    Going for the 2022 classic and have to prepare my legs for it :)

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  2 года назад +1

      Brother!! This is by far the best question I’ve ever gotten! :)
      Like I mention in the videos I do strength training daily for my whole body and then I go on shorter adventures regularly to see how everything is holding up in smaller scale, I recommend you go on day hikes with a loaded pack. Start light and short and then add distance and weight as you progress!

    I mostly enjoyed watching your trials and tribulations, but I seriously have little idea of where you were, where the green belt route is, where the overnight stops were as you didn't share any maps with us.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  2 года назад +1

      True! when you look at the website for the green ribbin you see that you can choose a couple of different routes, I was pretty much in the middle of nowhere most of the time, I wanted to focus on what you mentioned, the trials and tribulations, the challenges, when it was time to sleep I was dead beat, not that much energy left for filming. but I suppose your'e right, it would be nice if I'd share the route! I'll see what I can do there for the film! thanks for your input!

    One question for you good sir - if it’s too personal don’t need to answer but how do you take time off like this for that sort of longer adventure with a job/jobs? Asking as a curious father that would like to be married to the outdoors/family versus his job, too.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  2 года назад

      Really good question brother! sorry for the late reply! it's a combo of stuff, I had some parental leave left and then I combined that with vacation. I needed time to recover when I came back and I wanted to spend that time with my family so I added parental leave to that part.
      of course this was an adventure for me but it was just as much a job, filming and all those things to one day be able to earn a living doing what I love! :)
