I remember playing The Sims 1 before Livin' Large came out. One of the most important changes for me as a kid was that they changed the money cheat. Before it was 'rosebud', it was 'klapaucius', which was SO hard for me to spell when I was a kid. This change was in the patch too, so you didn't actually have to have Livin' Large.
Wow, for the first time someone shows the charm and wonder of this expansion, I loved the video and all the scenarios you created in the game to show it off. That was always my favorite expansion, I still have the CD-Rom and I'm still playing it in 2022 lol
According to the Prima guide, the chances of winning at the slot machine depend on the fun motif of the Sims. The lower the fun, the higher the chances of winning! Love the details in this game.
Great video. Super cool nostalgia-filled review. No joke: I played livin' large so much I actually broke the CD inside the tray. I remember the moment vividly. I was in the buy mode furnishing one of the ridiculously big houses I loved to create with the money cheats, and as I was about to put another frivolous piece of furniture from the catalogue, I heard a distinct crack sound and the music stoped. I could still play the game, but the music and sound effects were gone. When I tried to restart the game, it wouldn't run, so I opened the CD tray to finally discover what happened: a big crack from the inner ring to roughly the middle of the CD had been formed.
I was only a child (~5+) when I played this on the family PC thanks to my older sister buying it. The amount of fun we had playing together is still at the forefront of my memories whenever someone mentions the Sims. This video brought back SO many memories it is ridiculous! The school bus, the neighbourhood layout, the alchemy table, etc lol. Thank you for this vid.
Wow, your build are STUNNING, and building in sims 1 is hard af when a lot of the items are hard to match. Your review brought me so many memories. Loved it
Oh boy! Thank you for this throwback I needed a nostalgic refresher, and I couldn’t seem to find a decent video worth watching. You absolutely nailed it! Thanks again!
The quality of your reviews are really great. I love your calm and relaxing voice. It would be great if you would do reviews on all sims 1 add-ons! Keep up you are great! Wish you all the best!
Wait i didn’t know there’s other premade houses/families in the other neighborhoods…. I somehow thought the extra neighborhoods were all empty to give us more room 😮 crazy to find out about these households 24 years later😂
As my first sims expansion pack, this pack is so memorable to me! I remember spending hours exploring the new houses and using the new b&b objects. I was obsessed with the animal rugs lol
I just discovered your videos and im binge watching them all, so good! also i love that you match your looks to the expansion that you're reviewing lol
I had the Sims Deluxe Edition, which had some of the features from Livin Large. And I’m realizing now, almost a quarter century later, I avoided a lot of the gameplay because I was afraid of Servo, the Tragic Clown, the Robber, and the grim reaper, and the alien abductions. So really all I did was build castles. I was like, 5 and really too young to be playing that game.
I can't believe I hadn't commented on this video yet! Quick sidenote: I've been following you since you started your magnificent channel!! What a great review! Yes, Livin' Large is a really great EP, though not my favourite. I don't really play with it, either: I reserve it for especial occasions. Which is kind of the point, isn't it? When you get bored or to stalled with the game, just put one of the new items and let the simmies get crazy -or create new situations. As you say, probability and randomness is introduced to the game on this pack, which can really help you shake up things when you don't know what to do with your sims. What I like the most is that is the only one that follows on the original idea of satirizing suburban/50s sitcome life; almost every new object has kind of a "TV quirkiness" vibe, like the genie lamp. Over time, I've really taken a liking to this EP, since it really helps you flesh out your sims with new activities; it even adds more careers with a "bohemian" or "alternative" vibe, and more challenges to the game, like... you know... a Expansion Pack should. Later games really could take a note or two from this one. Thanks for your in-depth reviews, I love them!!!
What a joy reading this comment! I tend to lean to crazier gameplay, so for me Livin’ Large items are very much part of my sims’ day-to-day lives! The build/buy styles in this pack are by far my favourites in the series and I use them all the time, and the careers are really something else.
Yeah, when I was child... I really struggled with this game, it was too difficult😆but it got me hooked for entire afternoons. Then I kind of got stalled on my teens trying to make this complex buildings and stories. Now I tend to go for a more easy-going, "let's see what THE GAME comes up with" style of play which I really like. Livin' Large fits perfectly into this style of playing, so I've taken a big liking to it. Thanks for your response!
I loved crafting loads of gnomes then if i had nectar in the nectar maker they would come to life at night drink the nectar and be staggering and singing all over the lot, always made me laugh 🤣😂🤣
I remember either using cheats or a mod to change the child's look so they would look more like their parents. Does anyone remember a mod for Sims 1 that could make your Sims grow up? They went through a teen phase which basically just gave them this bizarre alien-like lanky body. It looked terrible 🤣
I'm also facing some issues with this expansion pack... I don't know why, but some of the roman-themed items simply don't appear for me (such as the bathtub and the toilet). I have no idea on how to solve it...
Yeah windows 10 doesn’t love the original disks and oftentimes does have all the right driver programmes - there are websites out there where you can get a cracked version that does work on windows 10 since the game is now abandonware. It’s a matter of replacing the .exe file, but do so at your own risk!
The Tragic Clown is a metaphor for depression I think. Unfortunately getting rid of that is not so easy as burning a painting.
Oh how we wish

Yass Bjork
I love this Pack cause I'm the vocalist for Disco Party song when you play the radio! LOL!
Great!! 😃❤️
Oh I love this!! Did you sing in Simlish?

Haha I didnt even know thats possible. Poor guy
My family has a video of me receiving the pack for Christmas 2000. I was so excited! Thanks for your review of this oldie, but goodie.
This channel is such a hidden gem!! Nearly watched all your videos and I only discovered you earlier today. Great content ⭐️

The crystal ball changing their personality was my absolute favourite thing.

I can't believe I found my favorite channel

Great review and trip back in time! I need to find a good emulator for this game
the way i was OBSESSED with this expansion
i always thought livin large was kind of a filler pack but now i know it made a huge impact on me
Awesome review!!! Where can I download your houses from this video ?
Love these videos!
You can make children grow up with magic if you have Making Magic.
Very true!! I wanted to keep this review limited to base game + LL though
This is a really good review!
Are the houses on neighborhood 3 ones you made? They look stunning and I don't see them when I load up the neighborhood.
Yes they’re mine!! Thank you!!
My first Sims game ever!
Wait.. so what happened when you pass away in the base game without the expansion?
I loved crafting loads of gnomes then if i had nectar in the nectar maker they would come to life at night drink the nectar and be staggering and singing all over the lot, always made me laugh 🤣😂🤣
This is one of my favourite things!!

Are you using your original disks on windows 10?
@@k-rce yes, I'm using my original disks for the base game and all expansions (not Complete Edition)

@@k-rce thank you for the tips!
I'm pretty sure the roman set came with the deluxe version. At least it wasn't part of my (european) LL version either.
If the Grim Reaper was added in this expansion, then what happened in the base game when a sim died? No one would come to collect it?! :o
A swift transformation into a tombstone!!
No other sims game can compare to the original!!
Oi, I'm bloody arriving!
Servo was the best part of the game
what happened before Grim? could sims still die? how does it work?
Just a swift transformation into a tombstone!
keep it up beautiful
The love bed has FINALLY come back with a new EP for the Sims 4 but frankly it looks a little bland
