Chord progression:
II: Dm7 I G7 I Cmaj7 I Cmaj7 :II
Then
II: Gm7 I C7 I Fmaj7 I Fmaj7 :II
And so forth....
(see the video for each progression as the track goes on)
In theory, you can start by sticking to the relevant major scale in each key - as in C major scale on Dm7 - G7 - Cmaj7.
Next up, I'd try outlining the chord tones/arpeggios:
Cmaj7 arpeggio = c e g b
Dmin7 arpeggio = d f a c
G7 arpeggio = g b d f
Playing C Major scale will result in C Ionian (Cmaj7 chords), D Dorian (Dm7 chords) and G Mixolydian (G7 chords) - all the same 7 notes!
Next up, I'd recommend trying out some more advanced colours on the dominant chord (G7/G13) by using the
G diminished 1/2-1 tone scale = G Ab Bb B C# D E F (G)
....and then repeat in all 12 keys for a proper jazz workout!

@@QuistJam I think a real popular backing track would be the intro to autumn leaves. Bb especially.. I am trying to know when and how to play the different scales alt this and that. So many choices.I play the song probably 99 percent right as far as the melody goes. I would imagine that most practiced musicians can do that. However..I try to play improv. a scale over a Amin7b5 or a halfdim7b5 and it is NRFPT. Not ready for Prime Time. I have done probably 10 or more play alongs with your backing tracks. They seem to be popular.

The backing track is awsome for solo Pedal Steel Guitar. I place mostly on the C6 neck for this one. Lots of reps gets me to not thinking note to note. I think more phrase to phrase. Thanks Elite.

Next to Joe Bonamassa this guy here has to be one of the most greatest guitar players in the whole world not only can he play Blues but he plays Jazz also and that is a rare combination to find any guitar player that plays Blues so good like this Guy does, and yet can turn around and play jazz and as far as I'm concerned I've never heard a better jazz player on all of RUclips and I truly mean that and as far as the blues this guy here micro naino splits apart every Blues lick and he is so full with every little part of the Blues lick that he plays and it makes each lick sound so full I mean every lick that he plays is just so, how can I put it , instead of just a bam bam bam it's it's I don't know how to say it,, he's just so full with his licks each lick is so pronounced with so many micro segments and and its full of detai,, l I mean anybody that listens to this guy and wants to be truthful about it , you've got to conclude of everybody that you'll ever hear on RUclips , you're going to have to get up very early in the morning to get over this guy here, I mean to play blues and jazz also to the nth degree like he does , I mean I was amazed when I heard him play , Joe Bonamassa will probably always be my number one when it comes to blues and I've seen Joe be able to take his guitar and play left-handed as well as right-handed like everything he plays right-handed he can play left handed too and that is a rare talent to have also but now when it comes to have full defining licks of the Blues, this guy here with quistjam he is so full with his blues and jazz I mean I don't know if I can think of a better way to put it, i'll come back later and make another comment but I mean of all the people I've seen on RUclips and I don't know this guy personally he's not asking me to do this but I mean this guy is really really good I mean really really good and believe me I listen to a lot of blues guitarist on RUclips a lot of them but this guy here I mean he'll bring you places with the blues and jazz that you won't hear nobody else take you to , I'm so glad to see that God has blessed somebody with Talent like this, this is just amazing, just amazing , and I'm thankful he's sharing his tracks with us.

that first progression i could basically just bs my way through a C major 7 arrpeggio and it sounded good. Good thing i finally learned about some easy arpeggios!

I play various instruments. Piano and guitar mostly. It's a hard truth that a musician should know all 12 keys.
Of course.. Classically trained musicians are probably trained in all 🔑 s. Most if not all jazz musicians are highly studied in all keys. One reason is that the singer is used to singing in certain 🔑 s on certain songs. I myself am still working on be able to do all songs in all keys. Not there yet. E.g.. Georgia on mind by Hoagy Carmichael has a very sophisticated feel to it. My take on those chords is FM7. E-7b5 A7b9 Dmin7 Gmin7.. etc. It varies.. Thank you for this excellent video. It fulfills
the need to know every 🔑. Beginners should really play this a lot. 2 5 1s are prevalent in music. Especially jazz and gospel.

Have you thought about a 7 3 6 2 5 1 jazz progression like the Georgia version written by Hoagy Carmichael .. I use the chords that I 👂 hear. Fmaj7 Emin7b5 A7b9...they seem to fit. I have checked some good sources and my version is really close. Btw I play this on the piano mainly using D blues and not F blues..Over the years I also have learned not to use F blues over an F7 chord. It sounds like it Is already resolved. Hoagy's version is very similar to Hugh Laurie on 🏠.He plays an excellent version of Georgia.

Hello! Great backing track! And I want more ;). Did you thing about Coltrane's changes in all 12 keys? But not "Giant steps" , I thought about Countdown changes - Coltrane's substitution for 2-5-1. I'm not very experienced with I pro.Had it for years..I generally like to use the jazz guitar trio. Sound very authentic. I am actually creating a tutorial on Autumn leaves in Bb. It will be just chords and melody mainly as improving with alt scales etc. Is something I need to work on..mainly guitar and piano.

I started out on ukulele in 1962..Back when Dinosaurs roamed the 🌎. I played it till my dad gave me a Sear Silvertone Archtop. It was a good guitar and it helped build calluses. Since then have learned various instruments. I got a book called..I think..You can teach yourself how to play banjo. So I did. Songs like cripple creek. I have forgotten how to play the ukelele. I occasionally try to play one.
