I hope you guys will enjoy this new 1 hour backing track! The 2-5-1 progression is one of the most essential building blocks of jazz - and if you were to practice with this track every day for a month, your jazz improv skills would undoubtedly sky-rocket... and you'd be able to apply your newly-gained prowess on a vast number of jazz standards!! ENJOY... and please SHARE :) #jazz #backingtrack #essential #jazzskills #swingtime #twofiveone #turnaround
i practice with your major and minor 2-5-1 tracks everyday and the difference in my playing is huge, its been great for helping me connect arpeggios and scales as well become what my inexperienced ass thinks is a more tasteful improvisor. your tracks mean the world to us all, keep up the great work
Just tried this for the heck of it. My fingers are burning , my head is fuzzy, mind is fried and it seemed like 10 mins went by. It's a must for any players. No matter the level. And it gives you something to shoot for. One of the best vids for any musician or wantabe musician, guitar player or any instrument. Thanks for sharing.
wow this is so amazing. really keep a person on there toes. with it keep changing keys. work through the chords/chord tones. I'm saving this to work on every single day. thank you
This is awesome. I improvised for the whole hour and found some scales (i have little knowledge about scales but I'm starting to search for more information). I'm planing to use this once a day to get my improv skills better. Thank You.
Hey Quist, a bassless version of this would be awesome, but don't feel obliged at all, you do so much for the practicing musician community as is, just a suggestion lol. Thanks!
I was looking for a relaxing smooth jazz backing track to play along with to induce slumber, but this track kept me awake till 4:00 am. Thanks for sharing this track, I really enjoyed playing along and will be back for more! :-)
me too, several times over the last few years. really very helpful in my journey difficult to avoid repeating phrases but always end up with some 'Best Bits' Thanks Quist
Awesome! I love it. I just got into learning arpeggios and videos like this keep me motivated! The guitar communitý has many good sides too it :) Thank you.
Do you thing to do similar stuff but in perfect fourth circle? Your backing track is great, I use it all the time, but playing in perfect fourth is very important too :)
I'm still working on it... was amazing to first try this couple of years ago... mind exploded... but its hard to make good jazz melody... its great for tempo and subdivisions... I just did 41 minutes and got tempo'd out... was trying to play melodies that include 1357 over each chord... was trying to use envelopment here and there... and trying to include triplets and a proper swing feel... painful and lovely at the same time EDIT: I forgot to mention I also include chromatic passing notes between my whole tones Jeez... playing jazz is like attempting to be a maths genius... I try to be sometimes artistic and sometimes technical but it still fries my brain
Hey quist i really like what you do and love to use your videos for my daily practice. I wonder if you could make a similiar vid like this with minor 2-5-1 progressions. keep that nice work up! :)
It is all in my head not in the technique. I bailed out at 250 (on guitar). Around that speed when my brain lags behind too much and I just move my fingers from muscle memory but with very little control over the melodic line. 3-4 years ago I remember I felt like this around 230, before that 200ish was my limit. I still remember the time when 180 felt like the speed of light. I'll be back in a couple of years to see how 250 feels then.
Fuuuuck... From 200 on my playing keeps on reducing itself to note pulp without any musicality in it whatsoever... Its good in order to feel comfortable playing at higher speeds tho. thanks for this nice workout

Hey Quist, a bassless version of this would be awesome, but don't feel obliged at all, you do so much for the practicing musician community as is, just a suggestion lol. Thanks!

Perfect for violin too haha
