Jim, thank you. I just picked up this mixer and a Shure SMB7 mic for some podcast work. I _thought_ this would hook into GarageBand as a DAW, but this confirmation let me pull the trigger with confidence.

Use this mixer with GarageBand. It has great pre-amps and doubles as a USB sound card. Let me know what questions you have in the comments below.

Hi Jim. On the MG10xu, I know you can only send 2 channels to GarageBand. Can you choose which 2 channels to send out or is it always channels 1 & 2?
I have several mics and instruments plugged into my MG10xu and would hate to have to plug/unplug and readjust the gain & EQ for each track. Thanks!

@@hienvu1714 Good question. You can specify which channels in Garage Band are input for the mixer. Hppe that helps

@@JimSnedekerMusicThank you for your reply, Jim. My guess now is that the MG10xu will send a stereo (or dual mono) signal regardless which input(s) are used.
      Have a wonderful Christmas!!! 🎄🎄🎄

Hi Jim sorry i cant see how u plugged in and set up your guitar on the mixer and the headphones are they through Mac computer or mixer? So i can see microphone set up. Computer plugs into usb on back of mixer line9/10 I cant see guitar set up? One other question not using garage band so using mixer only with powered speakers microphone through mixer n guitar through mixer but it guitar sounds terrible like u strum a note n keeps going what/how do u set up acoustic guitar on this mixter? My guitar is maton ebg808ce

Guitar and headphones plug into mixer. Not sure I follow 2nd part, but having speakers tuned on while mic is hot can produce a feedback loop. To eliminate this I turn off speaker and use headphone.

Hi! What a coincidence that you just uploaded this today as I'm working right now to set this up for myself.
One thing I'm wondering about: I'm getting a terrible feedback loop when I try to monitor my instruments through Garageband. I assume it's coming in through the USB to the board, then back out to the computer, etc.
Am I supposed to use a separate output to monitor Garageband or is there something I'm doing wrong on the board? Thanks for making this vid!

Thanks for viewing. I use headphones for monitoring because of the same problem. The mixer is much more powerful than my previous digital interface. Hope this helps!

One more thing. Feedback comes because you have not turned the peak and gain knobs all the way to the left.

Can we have 4 or more tracks show up in the DAW when we use it as an audio interface. Or does it consolidate all inputs and shown up as one track. Please clarify.
I already have a 2 channel audio interface and have the need of recording 4 or more channels into a DAW. Wanted to check if this product suits my exact requirement.

Great question. If memory serves, tracks are consolidated assuming you mixed them before reaching your DAW.

Yes, you can record and monitor the outputs live via the monitor out feature. It's a great way to keep track of your audio while recording!

Most definitely! This mixer can be used as a digital interface. The USB connections enables it. Check your manual.

@@JimSnedekerMusic would it allow for all of its inputs to be used for garageband? for example, i wanna see if i can record drums with it using 5 xlr cables. If i were to plug this console straight into my macbook, would garageband give me the option to make a channel for each corresponding xlr input? so that i can mix each mic separately?

I am trying to transfer records to GarageBand using RCA inputs. Is there anyway to do that with the Yamaha MG10UG?

    • @JimSnedekerMusic
      @JimSnedekerMusic  8 месяцев назад

Yes - use the corresponding inputs on the mixer. They appear on channel 5/6 and 7/8.
