In our area (Austria, Germany...) the police would have appeared and arrested the chief and questioned the workers - why do you not wear iron-armored shoes, no hard hats, no this and no that....Hopefully all these guys stay safe and do not suffer serious harms on this kind of heavy duty tasks.... :)

Good setup on the press but the whole thing is a death trap. Look at the welds at the bottom of the pillars they are cracked open.
It wasn’t a “good setup” on the press. They set the bearing by putting pressure on the inner race. It’ll fail long before it should.
Might be worth doing both sides..

amazing how every step seems to increase the likelihood of an accident. Given the weights, pressures and forces in general involved in all of this, there seems to be a lot of reliance on stuff just balancing and not buckling and being launched by hydraulic rams.
Serious injuries are very common.
They are dangerous. Can remember catching one once as it let go at about shoulder height thankfully it had lost most of it's energy by the time it got to me. They can certainly be frightening when something goes suddenly...

20:00 - That bearing housing is toast, that track that those destroyed bearings wore into it will ensure its failure if it is ever moved hard laterally. I wouldnt have reused it, but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.
