- Here is a more in depth look at my recording setup and process on my narrowboat home. I run through putting a track together, going over tempos, root tracking, vocals and extra instruments.
Very calming and relaxing. I could listen to this all day. Swaying along the house handling chores and not even realizing how much im accomplishing because im so relaxed and chill...lol.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank u 😊
Maple neck on an blonde strat - perfection.
I've been so stuck and its really helped me to organize yet not organize!!! Thank thank thank you!!! I love your music!!!!!!!!
You are so welcome!
Sounds Fantastic Benny J.. Sweet and Travlin out into the Countryside.. Beautiful.
Thank you so much ❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the process in your music. I’ve been without my studio for almost 6 years now and hope to build it this spring. It’s great to see someone else’s process. Enjoyed your music too.🙂Merry Christmas from Cobbs Creek VA, USA.
Good luck with you studio! And thank you 😊
very cool Benny thanks for sharing
Amazing, Benny. We really love your music, more than you realise. It’s so good to see how you put it together in such a small space. Thank you for showing us. What a talent you have. Thank you so much.

You are so talented and seem to be a really nice down to earth fellow......this is a great video! thank you so much for sharing! You are inspiring me to get back to creating!
Thank you for the kind words and yeah you should definitely get creating! 😀
Thankyou! Well...i'm on a little farm in Alberta Canada....so no narrowboat for me...but i do have a cabin my brother figures should be a studio! For now i just write my songs through the audio thing on my phone....not ideal.... But your studio looks like an awesome place for creative energy! @@bentanglemusic
@@lindajeancountrymusic well a cabin sounds great too! And tha ks it really has been quite inspiring 😀
_It's been EMOTIONAL!_
Fascinating! All new to me. Thank you for sharing your process Benny. I love your music!
My pleasure, and thank you!
Thanks for the insight. Cool!
Your very clever young man you can realy see how much you love music. Very creative and talanted .
Thank you Dawn 😊
Nice guitars 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
😊
Thank you. I always appreciate getting a glimpse into the mind of a fellow musician. Everyone's creative processes are so different. Every insight leads to greater understanding. --Dan
Well said Dan, wise words, thanks for that.
This has been fascinating to watch and hear. My son does his own music but never lets me see/hear him in the process, he is too anxious I think, but this was wonderful. Your music is just a treat, so calming and peaceful. Thanks very much for showing us your skills and talent. It would be lovely to come to one of the gigs you attend, but alas, I live in Perth, Western Australia so not really possible usually. We are planning a trip back to UK next May, we will be two weeks on a narrowboat and who knows whether we could catch one somewhere, I think that would be fantastic. We are both 75yrs old now, and married over 50 yrs, but still feel young on the inside, haha !! Thanks again, Ben !!
Nice to see the creative process and recording
Thank you! 😊
thank you Benny very interesting.Once you said that lots of time you had to start again recording due to outdoor elements (noice, people and motor things) now I get it. Nice work! Have a great week
Hey thanks!
Very informative Benny , thanks. Like your music a lot. It's very inspirational to me as I look at setting up a simple home studio. cheers Milo
Good luck with it 😊 and thank you 😀
Beautiful benny, what a lovely tune..... so peaceful, nice work mate
Thanks so much, glad you think so.. 😊
❤ brilliant Benny thanks ! 🥰 loved it
Thank you!
Interesting. Yes, more of this.
Thanks!
Thanks Benny. I half-expected Alan to come sauntering in. 😂. Great song. 😊
Oh she may well have done, the cheeky fluffer!
Hi Benny first time I came across this video the song made of stars very easy listening and the way it's all put together will be watching again see you on Saturday ✌️👍
😊
Thats amazing Benny! Your very talented❤
Thank you Dawn!
Loved watching how you record your music...great song too🙂
Thanks so much!
Wow Benny, brilliant rendition…thanks so much for sharing the process, makes the music doubly fantastic! I listen to your cd regularly in the car on country roads 😌🙏😍🎼
Ace, lovely to hear, so flad you are enjoying it 😀
Fascinating to see your creative process Benny, it all came together beautifully, similar to your planning and development of built-in timber additions in your Narrowboat Home, and of course the Micro Brewery creations 🍻.
I can now see why you're so excited to be renovating your *_BabyBoat/Recording Studio/Brewery_* it's gonna be a source of more chill-out background music for your Vlogs and a place for Emily to edit and plan her Videography and Photographic forays into the countryside.
What fun 😊
Thank you so much!
Love this song, amazing 😊 thanks for showing us your process 😊
My pleasure 😊
Benny that was a joy to watch and fascinating how you build a track. Beautiful music with so much heart 👌
Bless you for the kind words and so glad you enjoyed it 😃
I really enjoyed this. it was interesting to hear the song develop as you went along. You’re a talented man.
Thank you for the kind words ❤️
That was very interesting Benny and great resulting tune from all your input….thank you
Cheers Benny
My pleasure 😊
Great to see, thanks Benny. I remember asking about this on the other channel. Just love 12 string.
Interesting to witness the practical side of your creativity, things have definitely moved on from when I was a youth and my then partner was doing four tracks on a Fostex ☺️I think your sound is a tonic of individuality 🙏🏻🎵🎶xx
Glad to show how I work creatively : ) that is very kind and poetic of you to say, thank you 😊
Thanks, Benny, that's fantastic. Lovely song and your voice is beautiful!
Aww thankyou 😊 very kind of you to say so
👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👍👍
😊
Got a home studio setup I use ableton but on a PC love the track cheers for showing your creative process 👍
Hey my pleasure 😊
Home studios are fun arent they !
@Benny Jones they sure are I started with a cassette 4 track and and cheap stereo equipment took ages to make a track now you can do things on the computer in seconds
@@paullawson8610 yeah I know what you mean.. cassette has its charm, I've done a bit of that myself, but the digital iption is very fluid!!
Great stuff but my favorite is your J-45! That guitar sounds amazing!
Ahh…I see it is actually an Epiphone ! Sounds great! How old is it please?
Excellent Benny, thankyou x x
Very nice Benny..great tune! I write my songs on acoustic guitar and luckily I have a talented multi instrumentalist producer who puts the rest of the instruments on using the same recording process as you... I only play guitar and wish I could play other instruments.
Love your music mate! ❤
Thank you so much! Ah that's great, yeah that sounds fun working with a producer 😊
really like this song and love the sound of the electric guitar,..thanks Benny
Glad you like it, cheers Andrew!
Thank you Benny, really interesting, seeing another part of your life, great creativity, we all need that ❤
My pleasure , thanks for watching 😊
Love the song, Benny.
Just shows what you do with your great talent, and all the right tools. I am guessing that you put the drum track down on the computer?
When you play gigs with your band, do you perform the songs you've recorded on the boat, or do you play other material? Or a bit of both? Composing on your own is very different from composing as a collective! I am thinking here of Roger Hodgson of Supertramp. He composed most of their songs on his own, made demos, and then got together with the band to put it all together in the studio.
To quote Frank Zappa: " music is not made by musicians, it is made by composers".
Love to you three.
Nick.
Yes Benny I was wondering about your recording setup. As a musician myself with a home studio I have learned!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Benny I wondered how you do your recordings but only just come across this vid so this is very interesting to me,I love your music the albums I love are Upon The Way That Weaves & Rarer Forms of Wandering the sound quality on the albums are superb, you are very talented please keep making more albums & maybe put the two albums I mentioned on vinyl 😉
Thank you Lauren, I feel very grateful to hear such positive feedback of music.. I will be making more albums, and am hoping to release the next on vinyl ❤️😊
That’s great news Benny!can’t wait for the next album & to get it on vinyl too ☺️
That is AWSOME I HAVE WONDERED HOW YOU WERE DOING IT. NEAT O...
Hehe cheers!
Thank you 👏👏👏
😊
I have just come across your RUclips channel. Thank you for sharing your musical talent, but a question: acoustics & vocal recording - how do you "soundproof" your area inside your narrowboat ? Thank you.
Perfect set up there Benny. Thanks for showing us how your tec meets vibe :)
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it 😃
This is actual magick 😍👌
Bless you for the kind words! 😊
Omg u really r a talented guy . And your music is brillaint xx
Thank you!
@@bentanglemusic i love u emily and cute alan xxx
Nicely done. I've noticed that performers always get further faster because they're more disciplined. I was going to get a Rode ribbon for guitar but that LDC sounds great. I for one would be interested in some Ableton concepts, the DAW side, Cubase is too cumbersome. It's nice to watch you working on a song start to finish. Thanks!
It depends on the song, this ine I have the composition down very clearly, but sometimes I write as I record, this takes a lot longer and more trail and error.. yeah when I do another I will include some screen filming of ableton
Love this.
So glad, thank you! 😊
awesome benny boy
Thanks! 😊
Love your album. Would really like to see the way you use the MacBook. Also what instruments? What 12 string is that? Has a lovely richness.
Thank you 😊 Yeah next time I will use mac book screen shots.. Its a Martin x series 12 string.. so not a super expensive one but still very lovely..
I always find that no matter how much I practice a guitar tune , as soon as I push the RECORD button, I make mistakes . I’d be very interested to see how you do the EQ ,when it comes to mixing the Acoustic Guitar track . It will be great when you get the new boat setup for all your Recording Studio . 😊
I know how you feel, all I can say is I do it until I am very comfortable with what I'm doing. But make no mistake the first tracks are hardest and it might take over an hour to record the first 4 minute track!
@@bentanglemusic Thanks for that , nice to know it even happens to the professionals. I’m working on an idea for a Digital Drawing at the moment , that you might be able to use ( Print / Jigsaw ) to raise money for the new Boat . I’ve based it on your idea of the ‘perfect boat ‘ and Hot Air Balloon , when you did the Q&A . I will let you know how I get on . Cheers
Thanks for sharing your approach, Benny. Love that full 12-string sound! Enjoyed your songs on Bandcamp and in the videos. What happened to your hair? I thought Alan was looking nervous ...!
Thank you! I saved my head in March I think.. it has now re grown hehe
Thank you once again Benny for sharing your music and creative process. I would very much like to see how you use Abelton Live as I use it myself for producing.
My pleasure : ) ok I will aim to do a video with more of the ableton bits included next time..
Love your music! Thank you for sharing. I'm intending to have a similar studio setup on my narrowboat - do you ever find the sound of the water on the boat interferes with the recording? Would love to know, big love! x
Hey thanks Addi! Appreciate that 😊 The boat is naturally pretty quiet, unless it's really stormy or raining hard...
I was looking at the stove fan in the background - mine makes such an annoying noise, especially when the fire is very hot. Your’s is obvs silent ❤
It does make a bit of a whirring noise.. there's a chance it's on all my recordings hahaha
But we did pay alot for it, so maybe its quieter...
@@bentanglemusic mine was an Aldi spesh 🤣
@Li 😄that might be why!
Love this...im waiting for the guitar tutorial personally...but...whilst I know you've got to do all this , would you ,do you prefer to just be straight instrument and singing together??
Yes it is tempting, I think it's a good approach also, more natural
@bennyjonesmusic I hear both, and appreciate when people use a simple looper, but from listening to say that song you did on the bow of the boat a few.wwwks ago, you smash the guitar singing gig ( not in a Jimmy Hendrix way obvs) just to say I love your style
Interesting. Doesn't the mic pickup noise from the fan in the background?
Hiya : ) its a very quiet fan, so no it doesn't! We did get a more expensive fan this may be why it's almost silent.
Oh, just a quick question Ben, can Emily sing ?
You're some david bowie !🙂👍
😎
How many albums have you brought out?
Hmm good question, quite a few maybe 8?
@@bentanglemusic wow didn't know that many. Can they all be brought?
Luv ur music.
I'll stick to the harmonica.
I ca honestly say that as a musician I both suck and blow...
Hehe thank you!
Can I be your groupie
Hmm I'm not sure how to answer this one sorry simon
@@bentanglemusic lol
Nah pass on that
Bye bye no one's forcing you Gary 😉
@@bentanglemusic try having some lessons matey
@@garry9999 I wish you all the best in your endeavours, hope you have a great weekend
@bennyjonesmusic See you on the Cut sometime Benny, just to lock guitars 🎸
Yes Ben that's sick mate!! Great voice and fantastic skills there. 😊
Ahh thanks Scott! Appreciate the kind words 😀
Great Stuff! Ty for your songs! They are a real treat!
Ahh thanks!
You should be world famous brother
❤️🤩
Hi, just wondered what you use as monitors/speakers and are they passive or active? Thanks.
I actually mix with headphones and move onto mini rig speakers and a range of speakers to test the mix. Not ideal but I have a system that works. I do plan on getting monitor speakers when I have a dedicated space to put them, as even the small ones are deep, and require a fair bit of power.
Really enjoyed the video, so interesting to see how music is created. I have seen the the fit out of Rambler on you other channel which is also a great watch. Thanks❤🎼🪕🎧🎹
Glad you enjoyed it!
