Looks yummy. One of my sisters told me about your channel and I'm so thankful that she did.
I don't remember Mom freezing Okra, she may have I just don't remember. I was too busy playing, watching TV or, doing school work. I do remember Mom fixing some of the most appetizing meals though. She would often fry Okra and potatoes together. Many fond memories.
Mom was always canning fruits and vegetables and, making some of the best jams and jellies. I really don't remember our family having very much store bought jams. Anything grown on a tree, bush or vine, Mom would have some in jars.
My sister that told me about your channel, freezes a lot of berries and other fruits and vegetables just like you do.
Thanks, this was a wonderful video. Whenever my wife and I want some Okra, we head to our local Farmers Market.
We both have an appetite for fried Okra and Zucchini squash.
    Many thanks.
    Stan

    Thanks for this!!!
My okra plants are going bananas this spring so I'm gonna be freezing a lot. I eat okra raw, boiled, pickled but my favorite way to eat it is fried. So I'll be doing a lot like this.

We use seasoned bread crumbs and flower 50/50 mix. Then add some spices like pepper and garlic salt then deep fry! Yummy! Thanks for the freezing tip. I've been pickling it for weeks now! Now in freezing it!

I've fixed it both ways but our family likes it best to salt it and use only cornmeal. And fry in an iron skillet

Thats exactly how i do it, i do use vacuum seal sometimes.
i do lightly flour sometimes(i let it sit with flour, about 10 min+) & then freeze. to use for fried okra. my okra is about 6-7 ft tall.
    Thanks for sharing.

Going to try this right now.
I’m thinking you could gather that parchment in half and use it to dump straight into the bag.
I’m gonna have to be super quick, it’s 100 degrees here and my freezer is outside

I've been using this method for fruit, blueberries, blackberries, etc. Why the light never went off to do this for veggies is beyond me. I think maybe because I'm just getting over the past few years to not blanche so much. Right now, the only thing I blance is greens; collards, mustards etc. Thanks for the tip!!

I pickle my okra. Try it, you're husband will love it if he's a real country boy. Lol
Just started watching your channel. I'm an old Southerner myself. Grew up
like you on comfort food. Love mustard greens with bacon grease, fried green anything,
poke salut. (know what that is?) and mator gravy. Mom and Granny both cooked on wood
stoves even when they had gas. We we're self sufficient, butchered our meat, canned our
veggies, and churned our own butter. I also do a lot of Cajun cooking. Well, gotta go, got
chicken and dumplings on the stove. Love Ya'll

Thank you for this great informative content ,
I'm 56yrs old & just learned to flash freeze everything it's so much easier to get it out of the freezer bags or Vacuum sealers ,
B4 when I froze peppers I'd have to run some under water so I could cut them up for my dishes ,
Now even blueberries , peaches , green beans etc is so much easier if I didn't put in portion size bags ,
It saves on freezer bags to just flash freeze & fill to u can't, as everything is going up in price its crazy.....
    Thank u

I’m going to try this. Every time I’ve tried to freeze okra it ends up a disaster once thawed. Mushy and yuck. We don’t eat pickled okra or boiled okra so fried is our only option lol...and when I make it, it’s like crack to my family. My kids will eat my fried okra like French fries.
I’m hoping this is a win this year! I would love to have fresh okra all winter.

I fry my okra like you do, Tammy. Another way is to add 1 potato in small cubes. A southern friend told me about adding potato. I eat this with fresh sliced tomato and a glass of tea. Delish and Thanks

l've been slicing and freezing fy squash for many years. After slicing, l put them in Ziploc bags and freeze them. Try to keep the slices seperated when placing in bags! when ready to cook, l place frozen squash in a med pot. l then add a little sliced onion and bacon grease, salt and pepper. You can use butter if you prefer. Make sure you don't overheat the pot. Do not add any liquid. Liquid will cook out of the squash and onions. Keep an eye on them so they don't burn or cook all to pieces. l've been cooking squash like this for many years, just the way my Mother did!!! She fed her 9 children well!!!
