    Hi mates, from Indonesia... wish u good and healthy days.
    I have been mosty at home during this pandemic.
    I already designed and installed a mass automatic desinfectant sprayer on an enter road gate (funded by local gov).
    Now i am an designing automatic hand sanitizer (up to 3 wastafels each) also funded by local gov. It will be installed on local markets, mosques etc as needed.
    These cheapo multimeters help me much during the devplmt of my moduls (uni t ut136b+, winapex et8102, dt3266l. For working onsite i mostly use little an8203 n clampmtr dt3266l).
    Thank You mates..

    My Fluke 17B+ actually uses that same nylon-ish type of range switch spring mechanism, has a different feel than the traditional ball and spring style but it works very well -- much easier to re-assemble too--lol

    Solid 4 stars?
    I bought one UT890D+ on Amazon: instead of measuring 5Vdc like the other three meters I have (Fluke 8840A, Lafayette M9803R and an old Metex portable), it measured 4.464 Vdc. Not only that, on a 200mA current measurement (with the multimeters mentioned above), the UNI-T displayed 220mA.
    I sent the tester back to Amazon and got an identical one, believing that the first one was defective. The second one also had strong measurement errors in V and A; not only that, it had errors with the capacitance meter. On several 10uF expensive polypropylene capacitors with 2% tolerance, the reading was 12uF, 13uF, 15uF. Unacceptable, so I sent back to Amazon this one too.
    Believe it or not, measuring the voltage of 5 Vdc with the ultra cheap DT-830B, the displayed value was 4.9 Vdc, very close to the other multimeters I have.

      That's not good.

    On that large fuse - this can pass 16 amps all day and not blow. Most fuses will trip at 50% over (24a) in about 20 seconds. I think Uni-T has it right, because at full 20A it would harm the shunt and/or soldering past one minute.

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 4 года назад +1

    I keep sayin ya almost always gotta clean those lead tips to get good contact, my continuity works great, especially with the probemasters. The live and ncv on mine works surprisingly well good sensitivity, though on those thick commercial cords few NCV's work too well. I like those coil springs on the battery contacts, nice. The nylon arm detent design is how Flukes done it for years, with good material should last for a long time.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  4 года назад

      Yes, that would work, at least it would be better than no shielding at all. My biggest gripe is why the mfr leaves it up to the end user to resolve. When it's such a simple and cost effective fix.😀👍

      You can also buy nice self adhesive foil shielding, they use it in some meters and especially electric guitars all the time to stop feed back etc. - very cheap as well, but im told if you add shielding you need to ground it to the PCB's ground trace somehow, not sure why think it said something about it becoming a faraday cage if not grounded-?? I could be wrong here.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  4 года назад

      @@yambo59 a Faraday cage is used to prevent external electromagnetic interference (or noise) from interfering with its enclosed space ..kind of like electrostatic repulsion.
      Purpose of shielding is to conduct to ground any interference that's encountered so its important ...otherwise you just have a passive emf shield without an actual filter which isn't as effective (but still better than nothing.) As Hal pointed out, it only costs pennies so its unfortunate that OEMs continue to negate such a basic but important part of the puzzle.

    What is your opinion about Mastfuyi multimeter. I was thinking of buying either Mastfuyi FY76 (about 15.5 US Dollar in Indonesia) or Uni-t 890D+ (about US 12.7 dollar in Indonesia).
    it seems Uni-t 890D+ is a better quality multimeter.
    I am just afraid that Mastfuyi won't last long.
    I prefer Mastfuyi FY76 because it's auto-range and have VFC function. I just bought a small extrusion machine that is using VFD. I am not quite sure also if that function is important. I usually use multimeter to check capacitor of a machine and to use resistant meter to check whether the Heating catridges and thermocouple are still in a good condition. Sometimes I use continuity test to troubleshoot loose connection and to check fuse. I am not an electrician. I learn things from Internet.
    What's your opinion?
    Thanks.
