An extremely underrated album. Being with this band since singularity I wasn't upset like most when node came out. Mesmer is one of my favorite albums of all time. When I think of Northlane I think of Mesmer. That is until Obsidian came out, that is 100% Northlane but for me Northlane is still Mesmer Northane haha. I believe the guitar tones were created around Marcus's vocal tones, he really found his voice with the band on this album. And funny that you mention Thornhill's sound during the first song on the album, citizen, I've only ever heard thornhill live and apparently The Dark Pool sounds a lot like Mesmer. Thornhill are extremely influenced, or were influenced by Northlane at the time

I've been a huge Northlane fan since their first album, so when Node dropped I wasn't too into it. When Mesmer was released it was a welcome surprise and it was my most listened album for 2017 to 2018. Mesmer holds a very special place in my heart! Glad you had the time to react to the whole album

this has some of northlane’s most hidden gems. zero-one is EASILY a top 5 northlane song and songs like fade, heartmachine and paragon are up there too

Good songs! I never hear any love for render or Veridian 😅 easily my top 2 from Mesmer

Keep an eye out for deadlights album the uncanny valley, out on the 21st. Another really good Australian metalcore band

last song was about architects guitarist who passed a year prior. fun fact: Northlane took the name from an architects song.

Mesmer is on par with Alien for me. better riffs, but Alien is a bit more experimental/visionary

Personally I think this is their weakest album but I still love it. This band can do no wrong
