Thanks for the other guys who engaged with my question on Quora as well and I want to add some more points which where raised by them. Even if Saruman had figured out the connection "The Shire - Baggins - Frodo" it wouldn't be easy to waylay him in or around the Shire with his thugs because
*a)* the Shire was still protected by the rangers,
*b)* they came in conflict with the Nazghul which wouldn't went well and
*c)* we probably didn't want to let Sauron know that he knew more about this affair as he admitted or lead the Nazghul to the ring.
Your pronunciation of my nickname was almost perfect, just one detail: In German, if a word _starts_ with "Sp" or "St" the "s" is pronounced like "sh" in the English "shrink". So "Spiel" is pronounced like "shpeel", same with "Sparta". Otherwise you were spot on, you especially got the vowels right. Well done, sir!
When I was a teen back in the early 90s I had terribly insomnia and the only thing that could put me to sleep was listening the Martin Shaws reading of the Silmarillion. I no longer suffer from insomnia due to self medication but the audio book of the Silmarillion saved my sanity when I was young.
I like your answer about if melchor never caused strife in the world, Arda wouldn't exist. Think of it like, if there was no conflict in the story, why would Tolkein even write it? Who would read a story about everything being perfect and great and nothing bad happens. The End

From an architects constructability perspective, bag end was a series small tunnels off one main tunnel burrowed out of 1/4 of the hill side facing south west with the removed soil making the road up and around the hill. The tunnels are kept rounded for structural stability and would be plastered to keep out moisture and supported with wooden post and lintels at regular intervals along the tunnels that support the sub frame for the finished wood ceiling and floors. The large tree and the shrubbery on the top of the hill are critical to meditate erosion and support the soil above the tunnels. I’ll build one before a leave this world.
That opening splash screens always makes me think of the episode ending text screens when you beat doom 😊

Tolkien was revising the silmarillion for decades and it seems to have been written mostly in the omniscient voice. By comparison he completed the LotR in a few years using a much more character-centric voice. Did he feel more comfortable writing in this style despite having less experience with it?
Did you also ask this on Quora? I can't speak to his comfort, but I know that he intended the stories in The Silmarillion to be expanded into greater tales, some by him and some by "other hands" but he didn't live to see it happen.

For whatever reason, the auto palcement went insane on this one, putting them every 3 minutes. I reduced the ads on this video by half. Sometimes RUclips just goes a bit crazy.
