Azaghal wounded Glaurung with a knife, not an axe - And nowhere does it say his axe was legendary. The Silmarillion: "But the Naugrim made a circle about him when he assailed them, and even his mighty armour was not full proof against the blows of their great axes; and when in his rage Glaurung turned and struck down Azaghâl, Lord of Belegost, and crawled over him, with his last stroke Azaghâl drove a knife into his belly, and so wounded him that he fled the field, and the beasts of Angband in dismay followed after him. "
My favorites alongside Azaghal is Thorin's axe, I know that his axe has never been named but since I was a kid I always imagined what kind of adventures across Eriador, North, Blue Mountaims, Thorin made with it...And if I'm not mistaken unlike in the films, he marched into the BOTFA with an axe, idk why but its cool to me, and the design of his axe in movies was great As always great and interesting video!
Don't forget the men from the Gondorian fief of Lossarnach. They fought with axes and halberds as well, sadly they were left out of the movies entirely when the Ghost Army was written in.
Well I'd love to own the rest of Gimli's axes by UC but can't afford them ;-( But I am lucky enough to own his main battle axe and helmet, he has after all always been my favourite LOTR character!
Which is your favourite Axe story??
@@TheBrokenSword George Washington chopping the cherry tree hahahaha
Glad you axed. Gath of Baal had a nice axe. That and his horned helmet.

You should do one for spears as well.

Awesome video guys. I always felt axes where underappreciated weapons in fiction. They a flexible weapons as well as tools.
Such an iconic weapon, both in style and function.
Thank you for the dive into the axe lore!

I now need to rewatch the LOTR Edit w...here Gimli Destroys the RIng with his Axe.
Just love the content guys! 100% top notch!

Nice work dude thanks
Ground hammer of the underworld was probably a axe type weapon

"He was twitching because He's Got MY AXE EMBEDDED IN HIS NERVOUS SYSTEM!!!!!"

There’s plenty for the both of us best dwarf wins
I’ll take Gothmog’s Axe.
Azaghal's last attack against Glaurung was with a dagger

Azaghal stabbed Glaurung with his knife in the belly to drive him away.
@@Adamadam-zc6pe yup he did!
I know magic can be a little confusing in Tolkiens world. But could you do most powerful spells and curses too?
8:10 That dude next to Dain is totally Jason Momoa. I never realized he was in LOTR.
The tall axe of Beorn.
Gimli, without doubt 👍

Video 311, AND MY AXE.
Where is it written that Tuor killed balrogs?
Are these the axes of evil? *ducks*

Why did Jackson replace Dain's axe with a hammer?
He changed a lot of things he shouldn't have.
AND MY AXE!
But what about the Broken Sword? ;)
Was the video remastered? I could have sworn that I've seen this video months ago
I was just about to AXE you to do a video about this hahahaha 🤣
EPIC :D
If only dramboleg had survived and become an heirloom of Iseldur’s house. That was being kept in Rivendell.
The tale of Huran reminds me of Samson. He used the jawbone of an ass and this was an ax
👍🏻👍🏻
I've got some questions to axe you...
Red axe all day
Can I axe you about war hammers?
