Wow 😳
J.R.R. Tolkien could write a story.
And it continues to get Better with every telling.
No matter who tells it.
😇❤😇❤😇❤😇
Good part of fictional series is that there are plenty of them, most telling many battles and wars.
- The Wheel of Time.
- The Black Company.
- Both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k.
- War of the Lance in Dragonlance.
- Battletech's 4th Succession War.
- Dune.
- I would even consider the more fictional (and popular) Three Kingdoms period and King Arthur's to be both worthy settings.
Can you do about the Battle between Thalmor and Imperial in Elders Scroll next?
would love to have a history of the elder scroll races starting with the mer then the men then the beastfolk. going over each people similar to shoddycasts legendary videos on elderscrolls.
My grandfather fought in this battle, too
Then how come ya grandpa didn't use gunpowder weapons from Warsaw Pact nor NATO? 😂
So your grandpa is a time traveller? HE'S A LEGENDARY BADASS! 🤩
I fought in this battle!
@@Bogey1022 Thank you for your service.
Ah yes, I remember. Many a pornos were watched in the portashitters in gondorian camp. Yes good times.
Hey everyone Frank Ó'hÁinle here the author of the LOTR series here at Wizards and Warriors. Just wanted to say thank you for all of the support so far and to let everyone know that we have taken your feedback on board and will be focusing solely on the books in coming videos. I hope you all continue to enjoy the series just as much as I have in writing it and look forward to hearing your thoughts on this video and all things Tolkien in the next while.
Merry Christmas and Happy holidays,
Frank Ó'hÁinle
1. NO, Thank YOU.
2. Thoughts are basiclly this is amazing, my only complain is that there isnt 100 videos to spend my vacations with yet. But i hope they will be for next year.
Frank fam, how does one get your job? Sounds like a dream.
The pronunciations need work. This is about 5 videos now…lol
Really enjoyed it thanks 🙂
Thanks man, great job and keept it up!
Just take some time to ponder on the fact that these epic conflicts are but a *tiny fraction* of Tolkien's incomparably vast histories.
The state of Rohan at it's introduction of Two Towers was so beautiful in its ruin. Peter Jackson has truly great moments on screen
@@ComradeCommissarYuri what can men do against such reckless hate?
@@ComradeCommissarYuri 2 towers was my favorite so I watched it a million times. I cant quote that speech you're talking about 😅
I think the early 2000's were at the point of the perfect mix between CGI and actors. CGI was good enough to look good and realistic, but expensive enough to not be overused.
Before the Lord of the Rings, most battles felt too small or chaotic. After lord of the rings, battles became to computer generated and didn't feel natural anymore. The battle of the five armies didn't have the weight the battles in LOTR had.
I wonder if we will ever see a masterpiece as Lord of the Rings again.
The only real flaw I see in the Lord of the Rings movies was Frodo. Who in the books felt much braver than in the movies. You could identify the influence of the ring and his own character more in the books. Frodo also felt too helpless in the movies.
@@donder91 a moment I recall is when Gandalf and the Rohirrim charged into the Uruk-Hai flank, the sounds were perfect.
@@donder91 I mean some changes had to be done. For the betterment of character development and so on. Because if we have the characters as exact. It would be almost difficult to add things to confront them.
I mean... battle of five armies was okish? Only issue was as every said CGI usage too much. But you can't deny how good the designs were.
Also I think it was 6 or 12 man stunt team to create the entire armies. So you guys can't blame them as they didn't have enough people either 🤷 the same amount compared to lord of the rings commitment films.
Jackson tried his best and I doubted anyone could've done better
The Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor reminds me of the Western and Eastern halfs of the Roman Empire because of how the kingdoms were formed after the fall of Numenor and how the Kingdom of Arnor in the west fell (like the Western Roman Empire) while the Kingdom of Gondor in the east continued the Numenorean legacy (like the Eastern Roman/Byzantine Empire).
Yes, Tolkien drew inspiration from it.
I would assume that was intentional. Tolkien drew a lot of inspiration from the real world, as he didnt intend his work to be entirely separate from the real world.
One fell and one to go
Yes, even the architecture follows a lot of domes and arches similar to the Romano-Byzantine style of architecture.
@zippyparakeet1074 where does it say that in the books?
This was the best idea, you guys are definitely my favorite history nerds
Oh thank you :-)
@@WizardsandWarriors good video. however the eotheod moved up the andiun some time before eorl took over as lord. they made their homes in the area between mount gundabad, the grey mountains & mirkwood. it's this that made the prospects of messengers getting to the eotheod slim, as they needed to ride past Dol Guldur, which is controlled by sauron. eorl & his host was helped by Galadriel in order to get past Dol Guldur with his army, she conjured a mist that hid them & increased their speed. the fact that sauron had no knowledge of this army, made their charge into the enemy host all that more effective.
No offence, but pretty sure the Lord of the Rings. Isn't history. Now I do realize the other channel is
@@jrodstech this channel is called wizards and shit. Not history and shit
They messed up the lore completely. One glance at Tolkien Gateway would have corrected 50% of the errors here at least.
Testing a thing
Can you test it somewhere else?
Wow 😳
@@WizardsandWarriors where?
We have Kings, Generals, Wizard n Warriors what can they be testing
Hello hello, who produces your music?
One very interesting fact is that when Eorl the Young made his way south, Galadriel put out a mist that covered the army and the sound that the army made so that the ork scouts wouldn't see them.
the Eorlings wanted to turn back as they called Lorien the Dwimerdorne (Witch-forest) but Eorl's horse Felarof was of the Mearas and wouldn't turn. Eorl decided to trust his horse and ride south anyway, and his men followed along with Brandir of Gondor.
Later Eomer also accuses Galadriel of being a witch, which angers Gimli and nearly starts a fight with Aragorn and Legolas.
Well today i learned that in the end the witch king did kinda win his wars in the north. Angmar did fall, but hey its only purpose was destroying Arnor so who cares if a few orcs and evil humans die along the way.
Great Video, finally this part of the LOTR-Lore is understandable with a live-map and animations ^^
Sauron and the Witchking were playing the long game.
@@arveduilastking546 when you’re effectively immortal you can afford to play it
@@arveduilastking546 Nah, Sauron was just coping.
Tiny correction, Isildur planted the white tree in Minas Anor in memory of his brother, he saved that sapling from minas Ithil during its siege by Sauron
This is really a splendid surprise due to me being sick the past couple days, thank you Kings and wizards
Get well soon!
That two-tailed comet at the end made me smile in antecipation.
I knew I couldn't be the only one noticing 😁
SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS!
The twin-tailed is the sign that our rule over the world is assured yes-yes.
The Tongue of Sotek brightens the sky!
The time of the undead is coming!
Just a minor mistake: the Éothéod weren't established south of Dol Guldur but far in the north in North Anduin near Ered Mithrim and Gundabad between the rivers Greylin and Langwell in TA 1977. They were lead by Frumgar at the time and migrate his people to the north where they established Framsburg as a capital (although they had been established south of Mirkwood after the destruction of Rhovanion). Eorl and his forces had to cross Lorien in order to help Gondor.
Ahead of that is a really good job!
There be Dragons up north!
That's why they didn't go too far north, they were lucky Scatha was already slain though
@@lionshistoryandgeography Scatha was killed by Fram of the Éothéod.
@@deanzaZZR oh sorry i thought he was one of Beorn's kin for a second

thats it.
I have my childhood books of Tolkien, visualized and narrated by Kings&Generals narrator, one of best I ever heard in all youtube documentaries.
My life is complete.
I can die happy person now.
"Arnor is falling!"
"And Rohan shall rise!"
Ehhh they really don’t have anything to do with each other. Rohan was in a totally different region and popped up 25 hundred years after Arnor fell
500 years*
After you finish your War of the Ring series, I'd freakin' love a series about the Wars of Beleriand, finishing at the War of Wrath.
Yes, now thats Tolkien's legendarium at its finest!
Rohan: saving Gondor's butt since TA2050
This is brilliant. Having only seen the movies I really appreciate the added context around Isildur and his death, makes his choices a lot more relatable. Tolkein was such a legend, his world reads just like history.
The events in this video would make movies that are LotR worthy in terms of epicness. I hope we can see some stuff like that in the future.
There is a TV show coming out in the New year
@@Tzar1 Yeah but i'm not very hopeful about it focusing on these stuff. I'm pretty sure they will focus on drama a lot.
@@Elessar00 yeah, from what I hear, I don’t think it’s going to be very good. But let’s hope I guess

This is hands down the best LOTR documentary I've seen! Im a huge LOTR fan and this channel has me learning so many things I didn't know about! Thank you Wizards and Warriors this channel is the best!
There's a minor imprecision on the map that is shown at 11:18. The land between Bree and the Weather Hills was not controlled by Rhudaur originally, it was disputed territory. Rhudaur's territory consisted of (according to LOTR, Appendix A) the land between the Ettenmoors, the Weather Hills and the Misty Mountains, and the Angle between the Hoarwell and the Loudwater. Bree itself was very close to Cardolan's border (on the Great Road) and could have been part of that kingdom. But great video though. I love Kings and Generals and this new channel is great. I'm looking forward to seeing more content from Tolkien's Legendarium here.
I see you already corrected some of the lore details you got wrong in the previous video. That's nice to see.
The idea was to use both the books and movies, but the audience doesn't want it, so books only from now on :-)
What details did they get wrong?
Small quibble, Minas Morgul isn’t the “Tower of the Sorcerers” it’s the “Tower of Black Sorcery”
In Sindarin “Mor(n)” is the word for black or dark and “gul” refers to magic or sorcery.
Perfect timing, as usual! Earlier the day I was wondering when you'll bless us with the next upload :)
Thanks! For now we are planning only Saturday releases, but this one was ready for some time, so we decided to work a bit extra and release it earlier :-)
@@WizardsandWarriors A surprise for sure, but a welcome one! :)
I already loved the historical content, but i found out you guys had this new channel today. I already saw all of the videos up, and i'm eager to see this one while i do some chores!
Thank you for all of your teams efford!
The Disaster of the Gladden Fields was so awesome, well made guys!!
This is the best Wizards and Warriors video so far. Good job! =)
I would like to see some Warhammer40k stuff here too. That's pretty complex lore though with some fanatic followers.
Unification Wars, Horus Heresy, Vraxx, and the fall of Cadia would be some great topics. ^^
Might not compare to Tolkien's lore in a video like this. For example "The Witcher video" which just has many more visible holes in how the history and battles are set up especially when dissected into a video mostly about battle tactics, it's scary how realistic Tolkien is in his writing even about rediculous things compared to reality and he was no battle field tactician so I wonder how something like Warhammer 40k would compare.
Warhammer fantasy pls. I saw your comments on the videos about it. So pls Wizards and warriors
I would rather not see Warhammer stuff here, not because I don't like it, but due to the current policies of GW. Might cause problems for the channel.
@@ryanchan1170 That is actually true.
Finally someone who does a documentary on this🙏thank you so much, you're the best🥰
This channel idea was such a godly move. Loving the content
Venturing into fantasy lore opens up vast amount of content for you guys, also many people dedicate so much time and effort compiling alot of it which makes it a bit easier to gather info. All in all I am so excited to see more and the many fantasy worlds that you guys cover in the future.
Videos like these help me connect to the history spoken of in the movies !
Wow never knew the details about Gladden Fields and how Isildur died. It's kind of tragic that he made the realization about the Ring and died before acting upon it.
Always felt the woodmen were covert badasses! Like frontiersman or the fur trappers of "The Revenant" living on the edge of society in wooden homesteads fighting off the burgeoning darkness there with nothing but axes. Orcs were the least of their worries with the spiders of Ungoliant's brood, and all the other dark things in that place.
The woodmen didn't even have territory until Thranduil and Celeborn granted the gap between Mirkwood and the larger forest to them- ironically the one spot without forest.
Your presentation of all this fascinating history is so well done and enjoyable. This is quickly becoming my favorite channel
Absolutely love how you're applying your signature style and analysis to one of the greatest fantasy histories ever written K&G
And is that a twin tailed comet I see before me? ;-)
You have the perfect voice for these types of videos - for both history and fantasy!
I believe an episode about Anbennar should be awesome! Loving the new channel btw! :)
If you guys did any battle from the Stormlight Archive, by Brandan Sanderson. That would be spectacular, several different options and the books are by far the best modern fantasy out there
I think Invicta actually has a couple videos on that
IM LOVING THIS SERIES! This channel is going to be popping off in no time! Great work! Can't wait for more.
Very interesting! A lot of details and perspectives that had not yet been covered by other channels (such as Nerd of the Rings, Men of the West and History of the Ages). So far, W&W focuses less on long quotes and lore, and more on military strategy and diplomatic relations. A great addition!
Also a small correction in the pronunciation, whenever the pair of letter ‘ai’ appears in Tolkien’s names, it is always pronounced like the ‘I’ in “wine”. So Dunedain is pronounced like Dunedine.
cool, i used to say the other way as well
[X] Dune -dine-
[V] Dunelunch.
In middle school I loved reading the appendixes for Return of the King, but didn't fully grasp the context of how the Numenorians related to the other peoples of Middle Earth.
This channel and "Nerd of the Rings" have done an amazing job visualizing Tolkien's history of Gondor, Arnor, and Rohan.
This is so awesome! I'm speechless!!! So detailed, the names, maps and battles! Real Christmas gift. Thanks a million, looking forward to see more! :D:D:D:D:D Amazing job!
Man I can’t tell you guys how awesome this new channel is! Keep ‘em coming! 👏🏻
I'm absolutely in love of what you're doing here, but I only want to give a slight bit of critique right now, because I'm sure many other LotR nerds will bring this up in the future; the pronunciation of certain words are slightly off. For instance, the 'ai' in "Dúnedain" is not pronounced as "eyyy" but more "ah-ee" if that makes sense. There is a pronunciation guide in the Return of the King novel in the appendices if I'm not mistaken
Settle in folks, its gonna be a good one!!!!!!!
Thanks :-)
After devouring much of the Rome documentaries on the Kings and Generals channel, I wondered how great this style of video would work for Middle-Earth. Turns out my wish was already granted!
Man I wish I had this content as a child! Fantastic job explaining the history that is so important to the overall story and is rarely talked about!
From covering real world history to the the lore and history of some my beloved favorites! Keep up the great work!
You guys should make one about Numenor and stuff
I’m a 42 year husband, father, and electrician, I’ve never read a LOTR book. I fell in love with the story from the movies. This is second video and I love this as much as the movies
Age doesn't divide us, my friend.
The fall of Arnor sounds like the fall of Rome.
I guess it was inspired by it, quite a lot of overall similarities.
The Timeline of Gondor after Arnor split away from them before the eventual fall. The rise, golden age and stagnation leading to the slow decline, slowly losing territories east of the Anduin and being beset on all sides by enemies and civil wars, not being able to catch a breather anywhere makes Gondor basically the Byzantine Empire, with each major defeat taking a big chunk out of them, and by the time of the LOTR film trilogy, all they have is their core lands in the southwest of Minas Tirith and a few cities on the riverbank.
I mean if you think about it, Arnor is the Western Empire which eventually fell and Gondor is Eastern Empire. When Elendil was alive, he held Kingship over both so pretty much like Emperor that held control of East and West.
Angmar is like the Germanic people that invades Arnor (Western Roman Empire) . The Easterlings (Partia or Bulgaria) kept attacking the Gondor / Eotheod (Eastern Roman Empire).
Cool! Never thought in that way but it does makes sense, always interesting to see where authors take their inspirations from.
Wizards & Warriors. Keep up the Great work it doesn’t Go Unnoticed!
LOTR is my favourite story so naturally I'm loving these videos. Please keep it up. I'm also curious to see what you're able to do with other stories, like the Witcher vid you have, but I hope there's many more LOTR vids coming. Cheers, Wiz and warriors!
Excellent videos- so enjoyable. The narration is excellent and animation bring to life the stories
Wonderful video! The history of Middle Earth is pretty intricate so I appreciate these well done examinations of the subject.
This is so awesome! I loved this, and the Star Wars stuff too! The tactical maps really make the stories come alive in a way that general narration just can't
I'd love to see something similar on the wars of Beleriand and the war of Elves against Morgoth.
Really big fan of this new channel. Love kings and generals, but this speaks right to my soul.

I LOVE this new channel! I've always wished for this to exist, and now it does
Best team period , thank you for the content from all of your channels!!!
One of my favorite chanels. Please keep up the good work and thank you for all your hard work !
Loving the videos so far; I'm super excited for battles from the Elder Scrolls universe to come out! Some you might want to take a look at are the failed invasion of Akavir and the Battle of the Red Ring.
I've studied Tolkien for years and this is the best explanation I've ever heard regarding the lore. Great Channel!
This is an amazing series. I'm very excited to see you guys are just starting up - I love the lore of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Dragon Age. I'll be subscribing for more! I would absolutely dig right into anything from the Clone Wars era and Second Age (LOTR)!
It's also hinted in Unfinished Tales that saruman could have located Isildur's body in his exportation for the Ring, and disposed of it in his furnaces,as in Orthanc after Sauron's defeat they located a treasure-trove of items, with the help of Gimli the Dwarf, one of which could only have come from Isildur.
Man, this is top quality! Congratz!!!
Poor Arnor, so close to be restored. Lovely work guys ;)

Love it! Though I must say that the map are a bit inaccurate in certain places
Great vid, Great work, Merry Christmas
Great video. A video about The Horus Heresy would be awesome. Warhammer 400000 has the largest SCI-fiction battles by far.
Cool video. Isildur planted the White Tree in Minas Anor in memory of his brother and the greater host of Arnor had already departed long before he set out himself. The Battle map has them on the West Bank and the orcs came out of the Forest of Greenwood the Great on the Eastern side of the Anduin. The Arnorians were just north of the Gladden fields on the eastern side when attacked. Isildur when he put on the ring was for a moment still visible because of the Elendimir that he wore on his brow. He ran for some time before reaching the river and discarded his armour. He was swept downstream (not upstream like in the video) by the current and became entangle in the marshes around the mouths of the Gladden where he lost the ring. Hidden Orcs watching for stragglers saw him as a dark shadow full of menace and shot arrows wildly at him before fleeing. Isildur was pierced by at least one of them and died his body was left in the marshes undiscovered except maybe by Saruman's servants in around 3000 TA. (Unfinished Tales) as behind a locked secret vault was the Elendimir that Isildur had worn and a gold chain that probably chained the ring around his neck when he was not wearing it.
Absolutely great videos! This channel was such a good idea!
Could you consinder using footage from Total War again? There are many good LOTR mods and it would make your videos even better!!!
This is incredible!!! I had no idea LOTR had so much history!!! I was a huge fan of the films in 2003 and I enjoyed the new ones recently. But to think all that I knew was just a tiny piece. I shall listen with interest.
