Larry and Magic definitely helped save the NBA. They started out as enemies on the court and wound up being the best of friends. Two men I have the utmost respect for.
Jordans reaction in the back to that third 3 point win by bird was priceless. Jordan: "he didnt even take his jacket off yet. Id hate to see him take off the jacket"
Legendary head coach Pat Riley said "If I ever needed a man to take a shot to save the game, I'm going with Michael Jordan. If I need a man to take a shot to save my life, I'm going with Larry Bird."
Bird was just different than any other NBA player ever. What other player would tell the opposing team what the play was and where they were going to shoot from, even in game deciding plays, as much as Bird did? He played most of a game shooting with his off hand just because he could. Bird led the league in defensive win shares 4 times. If you add the number of times MJ did that to the number of times Lebron has done that you get ZERO! Bird averaged 8 defensive rebounds per game - that's more than Hakeem Olajuwon Shaquille O'Neal Moses Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, just to name a few. You want to talk about GOATS - Bird is the word.
What can you say. Bird was the executioner. When the final fatal dagger got plunged into the opposition it was Bird holding the knife! You just couldn't stop this guy! No one could, not even the incomparable Michael Jordan!
"You just knew Larry Bird wasn't going to miss that shot." " How many times does he drive that spike through your heart" "5 seconds, Bird has the basketball, look out" And my favorite "Larry can't run or jump cause that was God's way of making things fair." - Sir Charles Barkley.
I'm from the UK, and there's not much basket ball going on around these parts. I remember playing it in school for a while, and there are teams and leagues out there, but it's not a huge sport. However, I do remember some sort of event where American collage players (I understand that's a big thing with maybe scholarships on the line (?)) came over and was coaching some UK kids. I went along and it was a dope time with good vibes. I looked into the sport out of interest and watched some YT clips, and then the rabbit hole opened up. I didn't dive too deep, but two things stood out for me personally above all else... Number one was Kobe Bryant capturing my attention as a absolute wonderful motivator in general, and number two was watching his guy work muscle memory level shit with his team mates. I'm sure the dunks and fakes etc... are epic. They certainly look that way. But it was the flow and interaction with rest of the team that stunned me. Beautiful to watch.
I don't even follow sports, but people like y'all have opened my eyes and made me respect the living hell out of Larry Byrd. Then you call him a "cold blooded killer"....and I'm like...WTF 😮 He's a cold blooded killer, you're right
MJ *never* beat Larry in the Playoffs. Michael even scored *63 points* in one of those Playoff games and STILL lost. Larry was the *only* player MJ never got "revenge" against.
I'm sure I have the year wrong but I believe it was 1986 he messed up his back helping his mom with her drive.. and that was why for the rest of career he couldn't sit on the bench.. he had to lay on the floor when taking breather..
Dude check out Making the Case for Larry Bird. I know you guys will love it. I grew up watching him and modeled my whole game after him. He was unreal.
Larry vs Magic Brought the NBA Back.......Todays young kids will not understand....... But look at the Ratings.....That is what the NBA needs today.. As of now look at Angel Reece vs Catlin Clark .. Even though it is Women Basketball it is the same!!

They were playing defense they just knew he might pass it or shoot it so they had to take each one serious and since they didn't know which one they could easily be faked.
My grandfather paid for 21 years for our 8th season tickets and they were shitty seats but it didn't matter. I like your reaction but you really need to watch Larry Bird's fist fights. Bitchin.
Actually, that is not true......in a documentary he describes the difference between his right and left hand game, he was definitely better and more accurate than his left.....at best, he was probably a little ambidextrous.....
GOAT. I would never demand everyone or anyone agree with me, but he's my GOAT. Larry Bird never, not ever, played a healthy game of NBA ball. Ge broke his hand in college and it never healed right so he never shot as well according to him. He broke his back about halfway into his career and spent every second not on the court living in a full body cast. He had to get adjusted before every game just to have the 3 hours or so he needed to play and he couldn't sit on the bench. He always laid on the court after that or he might Squat in the cornet waiting. Bone Spurs, and just the damage of his all out give it everything play. Fife used to have to get into fist fights with opposing fans in college cause he'd dive into the crowd for a ball and they'd hold him. There are dozens of stories where Larry would tell the other team the play and proceed to hit the shot to win. He was brutal. No athletic ability, pure skill and God given talent. The man was a force. There needs to be a Larry Bird movie because his story is incredible going back to his childhood and his father.
Look at the caliber of the great players that sing Bird’s praises. Nuff said.
Larry and Magic definitely helped save the NBA. They started out as enemies on the court and wound up being the best of friends. Two men I have the utmost respect for.
They didn't help, they saved it. They created March Madness and saved the NBA.
Larry the Legend was a bad man! Great reaction
The thing about the left handed game was he has 27 points through 3 lefty, but finished the game with 47 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists
Jordans reaction in the back to that third 3 point win by bird was priceless. Jordan: "he didnt even take his jacket off yet. Id hate to see him take off the jacket"

Awesome! Thanks for the great reaction. Hope you’ll do some more Bird vids. 50 amazing assists is a great one.

Larry played like he was playing HORSE on the court
Love it 👊😁

I really miss that 80's Celtics/Lakers rivalry.😢
GOATS GOAT
Larry Bird's *trash-talking* video is hilarious! James Worthy said _"MJ made you look slow... Bird made you look _*_stupid!_*
I'm sure I have the year wrong but I believe it was 1986 he messed up his back helping his mom with her drive.. and that was why for the rest of career he couldn't sit on the bench.. he had to lay on the floor when taking breather..

I wonder if anyone in the NBA today has a sleepless night before playing the next nights opponent, like done guys did the night before playing Bird.
