Leon Nicaragua Travel Guide - The City of Revolution | 90+ Countries with 3 Kids

- During our trip to Nicaragua, also known as the ‘land of lakes and volcanoes’, we visited León, San Juan del Sur’s artsy, calmer, and slightly more sophisticated older cousin. It is the second largest city in Nicaragua located along the Chiquito River. It’s full of street-art, rich history, friendly locals and delicious food. In the evening, there are a lot of fun salsa parties.
Walking around León, it feels like being in an open museum of history because the locals had a tough past fighting against dictatorship for decades and you can still see the marks everywhere. In 1990, Leon was the first city to become independent and the party that consisted of radical poets, students, and farmers which started the revolution was formed here, so the locals are very proud of that.
We would suggest visiting Museo Histórico de la Revolución where you can get more formal education about it, but for an informal one, you can actually read the history on the streets. There are graffiti and colorful murals, and even bullets holes left untouched to serve as a reminder of their rebellion.
If you ever visit León, a great place to stay is the Harvest House. It offers a mixture of local colonial and modern features, the hosts are very professional and polite and it’s safe. It is also quiet and a great break from the busy streets, but really close to the center of the city, so everything is at a walking distance.

In the city, I don’t think it’s a big problem but if you go out maybe to some of the islands or the remote areas there’s probably a bit of a risk of it.

Wednesday, July 10, 2019. I have been watching must of all of your videos now. I enjoy all of them and what is more, I have learned many things that I didn't know at my age, I am 78 years of age and pretty soon I will be 79 at the end of November, more exactly the 28th. of November. I have seen the girls growing taller, getting older themselves and the mother getting younger altogether. I have felt in love with the baby of the girls which seems to me to be almost the center of attraction, But the other 2 girls are also attractive, Julia and Angie if I am not wrong those are their names, funny things happen in my mind I forget the name of the baby which sounds like Zoe or something similar I guess. Well, I have to give my full admiration to the mother, whose name I do not know nor remember, yes I admire her continuous work presenting the video and giving away data that it is important about the places where these videos are taken. Semilla means Seeds - Semilla beverage is made with semillas or seeds from a tree by the Jicaro . Jicaro it’s not a vegetable or a fruit or something that you can eat . The pulp inside the hard shell sometimes is fed to cows . Jicaro shells can be use for many artifacts , drinking cups , spoons and my favorite the Maracas . Hope I am not asking too many questions.
These questions could simply be answered by watching all their videos, which btw is highly recomended. To give you a shortcut:
Tyler (husband) is the "mastermind" behind the camera who did most of the filming,
and I guess all the editing as well.
Chantal (Mom) is the "travel guide" and does a lot of filming too. And, not to forget, she is the one who keeps the family together. She's like an older sister or best friend to her daughters.
Julia is the eldest girl (besides her mom) and is kind of a "comunicator".
Angelique is the middle girl. She's a bit camera shy (but improving) and a "hidden beauty". Every time she laughs or smiles her natural beauty shines from her soul.
Chloe is the little one and acts as an "entertainer". She's almost always in front of the camera and does a real good job in giving additional facts and often is also very funny, like an entertainer should be. She will one day be taller than the other 3 girls, or did she even overtake Julia by now?
Indeed, all the girls are very beautiful to me, and I hope there are maaany more videos coming in the future showing this beautiful family traveling the world for us viewers..!

+wizkhalifa 080103 I have no idea really. That’s just what everyone calls them. If we were in Africa, then I would say it’s because people bring chickens with them. (We saw this in Tanzania) here, I’m sure why they call it like this...
