Love your word explanations. I thought you were saying tops. Then I saw the spelling tups. Thanks. What are teasers? Are they the ones with brown wool?
Teasers are male sheep who have had a vasectomy, they still act like a ram around the females but would be firing blanks, we put the teasers with the females for around 2 weeks before we put the rams in as this gets the ewes cycling together and then when the rams go in they are ready to be mated and can help keep lambing from going on to long. n my case my teasers are the black ones but that is just so I can remember which ones they are.

I used to rub yellow raddle on my rams at the beginning just so that I knew when to expect the first lambs. The scanner gave me all the information I needed to run things efficiently. So I think harnesses are outdated.
@@TheSheepGame As soon as the ram goes to the sheep you already know when the first lambs are born, around 145 days, depending on the breed. So color marking is unnecessary.
I figured one day I’d figure out what the heck a tup was. I thought I may have been some kind of Blue Lester cross. I guess its like calling a Ram a Buck over here. I like have the rams mark ing our ewes, I don’t like the paint in the wool from crayons and hate the dirt that collects from the oil in the raddle powder mix. The dirt seem to settle skin deep in the fleece on the rump. The Shortens the life of my blades during shearing.I guess it’s the price I pay for knowing due dates.
Cheers DC! Aye a buck would be your term and we say 'tup'. With teasers mine should lamb within 21 days anyway so no need with my lambing setup to have them split any more than that.
@@TheSheepGame I’ve never used teasers on the sheep before. Most of the time I just turn the rams loose and the ewes lamb when they lamb. Within the next two years, I’d like to have my flock lambing within a time frame like yours. I’d like to have all early fall and early spring lambs. I’m even open to CIDR the ewes to get them within 7 days or so of lambing together. Maybe, I’ll find the ewes one of the exotic teaser rams.
@@TheSheepGame Cammy, thanks for replying. I’ll give sponges some study. I’m not currently running a large number, so I can concentrate efforts. There are sheep breeders of here that I know who sync ewes a couple of ways, too.

It's like you're speaking a foreign language. I don't know what raddle means, or what you mean by harness, and of course cannot understand your explanation. Oh, well. I can understand Sandi Brock, because Canadian English is pretty much the same as US English. But Scottish? Fuhgeddaboutit.
You should be using raddle in Rams did get them fertility tested a lot of infertility this year putting out 3 together is not a good idea if you haven't them tested 1 of the 3 could be a blank how would you know
Hi Noel, Good point on the testing and it would have made a good vlog. One thing I would say and the reason I don't worry so much about the testing is that even if one wasn't working then the other two would still easily get the job done. Rams can be infertile and then fertile again.... I rotate the rams after first turn just to make sure we get some lambs haha. Cheers
@@TheSheepGame when you're getting Rams tested want ewe on natural in front corner of the trailer so the ram would not have to be probed to jump i think probing put some Rams wrong especially blue's there easy put off

All just my views on it!! Happy to hear your thoughts!
Who's does sky belong to? Meg is gorgeous
Sponges are a good option if u don’t have big numbers! Can lamb them all over 3-4 days!
@@TheSheepGame Cammy, thanks for replying.
I’ll give sponges some study. I’m not currently running a large number, so I can concentrate efforts. There are sheep breeders of here that I know who sync ewes a couple of ways, too.
Love the vids
Thanks Patrick. Love the comment =D
Lovely looking rams. Do you ever use Suffolk rams.
Thanks OG! I don’t but i know plenty who do!
Fair play I'm really enjoying the vlogs
@@lilyrizlaa thanks! Where u based?

Apologies. Predictive text. CAMMY!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
Guess I know nothing about tups...they looked pretty sturdy. Girls don't always like the pretty boys you know.
Ha, nor the males the pretty gals. A friend had a whole horse, and when we went out competing, he was never interested in the pretty expensive mares competing with him, it was the unprepossessing double pony in the next field we had to watch out for lol
Why are they called tups?
Another good video cammy, how come u don’t use raddle or a harness
Hi Craig, I see i've already been asked that a few times so i'm going to copy and paste this answer =D. Couple reasons i suppose,
1 - Putting on harnesses is another job. Another expense and they can still fall off or cause the rams some issues. Raddle is the alternative but u have to reapply that regular and with my work load that's not possible so i'd only see the first few marked.
2 - I raddle the texel tups after first turn and anything tupped after that i'll leave to lamb outside. With them being teasered there shouldn't be many
3 - I don't do anything with the cheviots as they'll all just run on and lamb when they lamb and there is only 90 odd so they stay as one batch regardless.

Behind every good man is a good woman👍🐑🐑🐏
🙌🏼 true that Aidan.
Poor lads, All that trash talk about them
How come you don’t raddle or tupping harnesses
Hi, I pinned a comment at the top regarding that. You're not the first to ask. Let me know what you think of my explanation.
@@TheSheepGame ahh right fair enough 👍🐑
Is it me or do you use "see" instead of the usual "look back" command?
Yeah that’s right. 😁
@@TheSheepGame i think you are the only person I've heard that uses "see". It obviously does the exact same job, though.

BAA. RAM EWE!!!
Is it anything to do wi WAAHTUPPS
is not a bit late we tup to lamb at 1st of april
Aye sorry i should have added date! this was 7th November!
@@TheSheepGame aye that makes sense now like
It's like you're speaking a foreign language. I don't know what raddle means, or what you mean by harness, and of course cannot understand your explanation. Oh, well. I can understand Sandi Brock, because Canadian English is pretty much the same as US English. But Scottish? Fuhgeddaboutit.
😅 apologies. I’m always trying to speak clearer but it’s hard to drop the brogue completely. 👍
What is your favourite breed of sheep
Scotch Mule 😁. What about u?
My favourite is texal
Hard to get the lambs out!😂. Where u watching from?
I suppose I am watching from mayo in Ireland
You should be using raddle in Rams did get them fertility tested a lot of infertility this year putting out 3 together is not a good idea if you haven't them tested 1 of the 3 could be a blank how would you know
Hi Noel, Good point on the testing and it would have made a good vlog. One thing I would say and the reason I don't worry so much about the testing is that even if one wasn't working then the other two would still easily get the job done. Rams can be infertile and then fertile again.... I rotate the rams after first turn just to make sure we get some lambs haha. Cheers
@@TheSheepGame when you're getting Rams tested want ewe on natural in front corner of the trailer so the ram would not have to be probed to jump i think probing put some Rams wrong especially blue's there easy put off
Aye it’s a brutal job seen it done. Makes me clench my arse cheeks haha
the texels remind me of bull dogs
Can kind of see how you think that with that square face and stocky build.
@@TheSheepGame that’s exactly it
