When he pointed at the screen and told me to apologise I felt it in places I didn't even know existed
So out of desperation to understand why NL respects the Toad - an animal I perceive as terminally mid - so much, I decided to track what it did during the second run. For the Toad to "do" something, it has to change the way a fight plays out. So if it puts weakness on a unit with 1 HP and no equipment, it doesn't count as "doing" something. Similarly, if it puts weakness on, say, a 6/6 with no equipment that then attacks a 50/50, it doesn't count as "doing" something, because the outcome is the exact same: 6/6 dies in one hit, 50/50 takes 6 damage. This applies to multi-pet combinations: So if a Toad puts weakness on a 12/12 that first kills a 1/1 and then gets killed by a 50/50, it also did not count, because the outcome of the battle was the exact same either way. What does count is when the Toad's presence made a unit either die in less hits than they would've if the Toad had no text, or relevamt equipment got overriden. So, with these rules in place, here's what the Toad accomplished:
-It dealt 3 damage to a 15/14 Aardvark. The Aardvark did not die, but it DID have less health on the defeat screen.
-It killed a 7/7 Chinchilla.
I remain unconvinced that this animal "goes off". Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
I only use the toad with snipers, since the weakness will be applied before the battle start and your pets can take advantage of the debuff. Early toad with multiple mosquitos is probably the only way a toad can see value early or pets that spawn a new pet on faint like the cricket. Cricket will pretty much have 5 atk. Otherwise toad is only good with sniper teams.
He had the choice to banana pill a 2 1 moth and keep the puppy but decided a weird level would be better than keeping a scaler... I don't I don't know

Watching NL continually and unwaveringly structure his entire early and mid game run around potential dragonfly buffing of, you guessed it, tier 1 and 2 pets that are “too valuable to sell” has been a truly enlightening experience this weekly.

Eh. Salad really the only usable food and it's not even very good. The only good buffing foods are chicken leg and pizza and those only come in the very late game.

IMO the premium squad this week is just full pivot every time into Doberman, Arbok, Lionfish, Tiger, Monkey, with Tiger being an acceptable flex unit for any other tier 5/6 if you can't grab it. I basically focus on stats and preserving life on the early rounds, then snag a doberman and a couple bananas and pivot fully with pills on the banana units in 1-2 rounds (I've had some success with using an early toucan with meat to get wins and then slapping a banana on it and then pilling my whole squad lol). Even if you take 2-3 losses during the pivot turns you curve out of the danger zone so quickly that you pretty much just coast to 10 wins 80% of the time.
