    Happy new year everyone! Here's a new video (finally!), on a topic that's been requested a million times over the past years. I hope you like it!

      Gelukkig nieuwjaar!
      Kan je waar, waaraan, waarin, waarvan, waarvoor, waarop, naar wie, met wie, waarmee, ( betrekkelijk voornaamwoord ) uitleggen, a.u.b.?
      Alvast bedankt.

      Happy new year to you too Niels.
      I like your video very much.
      Jouw manier van presenteren is zo gemakkelijk te begrijpen.

      Learn Dutch with Niels! So the first verb for wor regular verbs get “hebben”/“to have” “I have seen her”/“Ik heb haar gezien” and for wor irregular verbs get; “zijn”/“to be” “I’ve been to Newcastle”/“Ik ben naar Newcastle geweest” right? :)

    • @mrwizzardknight
      @mrwizzardknight 5 лет назад

      Learn Dutch with Niels! Wait! I’m wrong! Not all of wor primary irregular verbs get zijn! I mean that; “I’ve been to Newcastle” example! I mean, in English, “been” IS wor past tense of “to be” and yes! In English you gotta say; “have” But Dutch REALLY takes it into account that wor last past particle verb is; “been”/“geweest” and of course! ;) Since English is Dutch’s artistic, pedantic older cousin, he wants BOTH of his verbs to involve “to be” As Shakespeare would say; “It is to be that Michael Galan-Diaz has been to Newcastle!” XD Ok,! Childish analogy jokes aside! Just as LONG as you KNOW in English if you get; “has been” or “have been” sentences in Dutch just make you use wor; “zijn geweest” formula and there you go! ;) Top banana! ;) 😃😃😃😃

    • @mrwizzardknight
      @mrwizzardknight 5 лет назад

      Another example why we gotta use; “zijn” is when it involves; “gegaan” because to you guys, if you wanna say; “he is gone” I think that’s; “Hij is weg” so... Yeah! That’s why; “He has gone to Spain” has to be; “Hij is naar Spanje gegaan” I think! Two more are; “Have returned” “he is back” “he has returned” “Hij is terug” “hij is teruggekeerd” and “have changed” “Dat meisje is een mooie vrouw veranderd” I think! Yeah, I’m probably wrong but I’m just guessing! ;) :) But still! Wor easiest example is “zijn geweest”! XD

    So nice to see you back Niels! Happy 2020! I like how you make Dutch easier to learn. Will you make a video about building complex sentences with "could have done" "shouldn't have done" "might have been doing" etc? These are what I find most confusing.

    Clear explanation of complicated language

  • @frankhooper7871
    @frankhooper7871 2 года назад

    I'm fairly certain that English also used 'to be' as the verb in the past perfect tense. There is a Middle English song 'sumer is icumen in' (summer has arrived/ de zomer is aangekomen). The 'ge-' prefix was also used in Middle English, although in this case 'i-' appears. English, Dutch and German really are sibling languages, although English has borrowed vocabulary more heavily from French.
    I remember learning my German verbs (back in 1967) as triplets: gehen/ging/gegangen, etc.
    And I'm enough of a language nerd to recognise that the letters in 'soft ketchup' are the unvoiced consonants 🤓

    Ik denk dat VTT de voltooid tegenwoordige tijd is.Maar ik ben verder heel blij met je videos; ze zijn erg gestuctureerd.

    • @LearnDutchwithNiels
      @LearnDutchwithNiels  4 года назад

      Technisch gezien wel ja, maar je gebruikt de VTT om over het verleden te spreken. Het heet de voltooid tegenwoordige tijd omdat de persoonsvorm in de tegenwoordige tijd staat. Maar "Ik ben gevallen" spreekt toch echt over het verleden. De Voltooid Verleden Tijd (VVT) is: "Ik was gevallen"

    I can speak German and i realized that most of all tenses share a lot of similarities!! That is said that German and Dutch are mutually inteligible.(Like Portuguese and Spanish) and it is well-known that they belong to the same language family(Germanic).Nevertheless I think the Duth pronunciation is harder than German but i can find that the structure of Dutch is easier even than English(I guess).🤗😊😊.
