Thanks man! 122k 2.5L went out in mine. I was homeless for a bit so idled mine more than i should have during the hot days. Im good now and replacing mine now as we speak. Best video on the net for this problem/fix
2:15 Awesome video...That top idler pulley now makes sense to me, I have a 2012 2.5L Fusion, and depending on the date of production that year, the idler pulley bracket has a third bolt fastening it to the head. I have 3 bolts on my idler bracket, and when I ordered a new Motorcraft pulley (part# YS356), they included the third bolt in the package to secure it, since some brackets during production only used two bolts.
Just incase anyone has a jack, the bottom bolt is 10x easier from the bottom! you can turn the wheel to the right and see where youre working with more room to wrench!
I've never personally had to ever take a timming chain off to change a water pump! Where have you seen that? I curious as to why you would even say that other then that say you did a fantastic job . No
Thank you. Very helpful. Mechanic wanted to charge me 600 just for this. I will try to fix it tomorrow
Did you fix it ?
Thanks, doing mine tomorrow. Went out at 255k Miles. Those 2.5L Escapes are built well. First significant repair other than some suspension.

This helped me immensely. Nice details so thank you very much
Thanks. Mine just went out tonite at like 356,000 miles. No shit. I’ll try to get it apart tomorrow.
Your video helped me a lot thank you very much I didn't know how to get it until I saw your video really thanks you
Atleast it's a regular external belt driven pump and not timing chain driven
Right looks easy enough
Excellent video!!! Great job!!!👏👏👏 just what I needed to see. Thanks
Thank you!
Awesome video, going to replace one tomorrow! What coolant did you use? Looks like there’s dark green in ours.
You can use a universal antifreeze, just ask at the auto parts given the make and model .
Great video!
i used the $35 belt and it broke in just 6 months. I am now replacing it with the $55 belt.
Bet you had problems putting the belt back on.
Parabéns mestre obrigado!
How difficult is this repair process?
Very easy
How did u know the pump was bad
Awesome video
Thank you so muchhh
have you unscrewed the oil cap and smelled it on any of the 2.5l and smell fuel really strong ?
Did you ever get an answer for your Question?
I do ...did u ever figure out what caused it
I've never personally had to ever take a timming chain off to change a water pump! Where have you seen that? I curious as to why you would even say that other then that say you did a fantastic job . No
Thanks
I’ll attempt to do this
After 6 days of trying, I'm out of options. My Escape is basically scrap metal with wheels because the damn water pump won't come out!
😟 sorry about that!!
@@gabinopcruz4564 Finally got it out. I ended up splitting it in half with an air chisel to get it out.
Heat it up a little bit small torch
Pull the rad and give yourself much more room
Only step you forgot was the power steering pump
Old comment but there isn't a power steering pump on this car
Great informative video. Thank you
