My wife has a wastebasket next to her chair, every trash day we have to go through it to make sure that those ignorant beasts haven't knocked important documents into the trash climbing across the endtables. Not true. Just like humans cats are not careful 100% of the time. They could trip and knock something off, run scared, not paying attention, wrong calculation of distance, get in the way of its tail and so on

If you look at how cats walk you will notice the rear leg lands right at the spot the front leg leaves. So the cats brain only needs to control the front paws and back legs follow automatically.
Cats put their back paws down where they lifted their front paws up from. The basically step on their front paw-print with their corresponding back paw.

네발 동물들의 걸음걸이는 비슷해 보여도 자세히 보면 개와 고양이는 큰 차이가 있습니다. 개는 대각 보행이고 고양이는 같은 쪽 발이 움직입니다(앞 왼발 다음에 뒷 왼발이 따라옴) 왼발을 내딛을 때 오른손을 앞으로 하고 오른발이 앞으로 나갈 때는 왼손이 앞으로 나오는 사람도 개와같은 대각 보행이며 대각 보행은 지구력이 좋고 평지를 걷기에 좋은 걸음이라고 합니다 반면에 측대 보행은 지구력보다는 기동성이 좋아 경사가 있는 산에 사는 동물이나 단거리 질주에 특화된 동물의 걸음걸이 입니다.

Ian Keel To be fair to cats. It’s a lot harder to get down than up. It’s easy enough to run straight up the tree. Climbing down is quite difficult.

If you look at how cats walk you will notice the rear leg lands right at the spot the front leg leaves. So the cats brain only needs to control the front paws and back legs follow automatically.

Cats put their back paws down where they lifted their front paws up from. The basically step on their front paw-print with their corresponding back paw.
