I just had a "rebellious streak" in me, which I later learned that I inherited from both of my parents. It wasn't a "daily" thing, but an "occasional" thing to start with. Usually the weekends. It's a bit of a long story, overall... but would never fly these days. My grandmother (who raised me) was SO overprotective, that it really sparked my rebellious side. I kept it on the down low for years, and it wasn't until I was 18 before she caught me actually drunk.

I drank a 12 pack of twisted just about everyday from ages 21 = 24. Now don't even get drunk from drinking a 12 pack. I was addicted and self medicating and ir did damage. One morning I woke up after going to the bar the night prior with something hurting in my back, sweating like crazy, unable to walk. I go to the ER, they diagnosed me with acute pancreatitis. That was literally the worst pain I've ever felt. Be careful kids and remember therapy is a great resource

Its because you havent drink long enough/much enough. Some people are more sensitive too it. I wasnt sensitive i always knew what i was doing and only had positive reactions with alcohol.... My grandfather was a heavy drinker, he was 54 when he died from liver cirrhosis, 8 years before i was born. That really bothers me because i will never know what kind of man he was. Life ain't fair.
So glad i quit alcohol. I never had a problem with it but I could drink heavily now and then. When I stopped for 10 days I felt so much cleaner and clearer, more able to regulate my mind and emotions, and just overall better. I haven’t looked back once.
the only differences between these drinks are the ABV, the higher it is the less you need to drink to get drunk. e.g 1 shot of 40% abv vodka has the same effect of 2 shots of 20% abv wine

When I do have a drink, I will usually tend to make food prior, so when I get a “munchie” feeling I go to the fridge and get out what I made before, also super important to have a glass of water between drinks!

It was horrible and because I experience such headaches periodically I always have one or two pills of paracetamol in my wallet. I took one and after some time when the headache disappeared I continued drinking. Later that night has turned into (almost) the worst night I have ever had. Only time it was worse, was when I ate something wrong and my stomach was to acidic, yet I still went to a club to celebrate with friends. 3 shots were enough to wipe me out. 2 things most important about drinking Alcohol: 1. Drinking on an empty stomach. Without any food, the alcohol hits harder and longer. (A personal exp this last Xmas.) 2. Level of tolerance. I drink one or 2 times a year. When I drink alcohol it take less, and has a longer effect, to get a buzz. Compared to someone I use to talk to that drank a 12 pack every day of the weekend.

I had 8 drinks in 5 hours I had in paired vision and clumsiness but no nausea and the music in the bar did sound louder. The next day I had no hang over but I don't remember much of of the night and no dehydration. What would be amazing if someone found a substance that reduces activity in amygdala but doesn’t cause damage. MDMA does this but even that can cause some neurotoxicity.
Of course some things are worse for us than others. No debating that. But... Moderation, people. Everything with moderation. Humans have such a proclivity to go one extreme or the other. Don't be afraid of these things. Respect them. And then once you respect them, you can enjoy these things in moderation.

I quit drinking June 3rd, 2005. Relapsed September 22, 2007. No regrets since then. I don't miss it one bit.

May i ask why you left out the pancreas completely? I was a bad alcoholic and ended up with acute pancreatitis multiple times because of it

Funny, my social anxiety has greatly decreased since giving up alcohol.
What would be amazing if someone found a substance that reduces activity in amygdala but doesn’t cause damage. MDMA does this but even that can cause some neurotoxicity.
I used to drink quite a bit.
I still do but I used to too.
Last drink was new years day 2023 & dont miss it al all 😇

Of course some things are worse for us than others. No debating that. But... Moderation, people. Everything with moderation. Humans have such a proclivity to go one extreme or the other. Don't be afraid of these things. Respect them. And then once you respect them, you can enjoy these things in moderation.
My friend Kiersten Holmes can’t remember what day it is because he’s a severe alcoholic with me. Her brain is damaged. I only drink once a week, so drinks every day.
I just come here to like everyone commenting their sober dates. Sobriety really is amazing once you're able to enjoy it.
