the two big electrolytic throughhole caps were put in the wrong way around from factory. wrong polarity. I believe the silkscreen on the PCB has the wrong polarity marked aswell. So that's why you see these buldging on all CD32s. so when installing new ones you need to reverse the polarity or the same thing will happen. You can google this.
Interesting, I’ll have to look into this. Did they get it correct on the rev 4 of the board do you know? When I replace CD ribbon connector, I’ll replace these capacitors and update the video accordingly with the capacitor polarity. Thanks for the info 👍
When they are bulging like that then they were put the wrong way around with regards to polarity. It's classic to see those two caps bulging in CD32s due to the factory mistake. I believe this mistake was made on all CD32s from factory @@BillFixesEverything
