      Thyme isn’t hard to grow… maybe just buy one from the plant nursery to learn how to care for one. They strike from cuttings very easily too.

    Is that low of a germination rate normal for thyme? Seemed like ~15%.

    Hi, how much sun does thyme need? Thank you for your video.

    • @Liap

      Full sun (6-8 hours) if You really want it to thrive.
      Thank You ☺🌱🍀

    Great video, I just got myself a thyme plant and I'm debating whether to let it grow in the garden soil or in a pot.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  6 месяцев назад

      You can start it in a pot and transplant into open garden the next spring as fully established plant 🙂
      Thank You very much! ☺🌱🍀

      Hello. I overwinter mine in greenhouse (or if You want to make some winter harvest here and there - indoors on sunny windowsill).

    How to water it when its still a seed? Is it daily or 2-3 days time before another watering?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  4 месяца назад

      Always check the soil. The best is to spray the surface lightly every other day or so. Or if You have trouble germinating thyme seeds, You can try to cover the pot with plastic wrap so it holds moisture inside, and You won't have to water until they germinate and You remove the wrap (make sure to have some holes in it, to prevent mold from creating).

    How often do you water

    • @Liap
      @Liap  День назад

      When the pots feel light and the soil is completely dry, but before the plants start wilting.

    Do you have to fertilize thyme?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  6 месяцев назад +1

      No. And if You are going to, be careful. As it may grow more foliage but at the cost of essential oils. I think I used very dilluted fish emulsion based fertilizer once or twice during the whole year.

    I should water my thyme when?
    I think I over watered my plant and it started turning brown :(

    • @Liap
      @Liap  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello. Let the soil dry out completely between watering. These plants won’t tolerate overwatering.

    just wondering how many times do u need to water thyme ? my thyme kept drooping at the side and turn brown.🥲. plus can i plant thyme in rocky medium with sand rocks , perlite so make it dry to prevent overwatering and well draining .if u have a guide pls help me .i wasted so much money buy many thyme plant ended up dead

    • @Liap
      @Liap  7 месяцев назад +3

      Hello. The watering frequency will depend on the containers size and other growing conditions (temperature, weather, soil type etc.). When it comes to thyme plants, the way I am doing it is I always let the soil dry completely. When the pot is "light as a feather" I water it. They will survive drought much easier than being overwatered.
      Yes You can use those to improve the drainage.
      Hope that helps 🙂🌱🍀

      If they keep on dying then you might live in a cold and wet place. If not then you're over watering.
