- An easy step by step way how to grow round carrots in small vegetable boxes. All the way from sowing seeds to harvesting sweet carrots. The same approach can be applied when growing carrots in raised beds or open garden.
I hope You enjoy the video.
One thing is for sure...you have found a great soil mix... everything you try grows well...the bite at the end is worth the wait for 78 days....
Absolutely! Compost with little enchancements works really well.
It definitely was, they were quite sweet 🥕😋
Thank you.i just bought plastic containers and seeds at the dollar store and organic dirt at Walmart to try and grow carrots behind my apt building.
That sounds amazing! I am sure You will enjoy them, really sweet taste these have 😋
Happy gardening 🍀
I’ve tried to grow carrots with no luck so I will follow your tutorial 😊
What went wrong?
@@Liapthey did not grow the carrot portion. Just a lot of greens. When I pulled out the carrot it was so tiny 😢
@@DB-vt1kk Did they have enough space to grow the root?

Im on day 11 with my carrots in shallow cardboard boxes lined with plastic outdoors. They are beautiful but will quickly need more room. Should i transplant them into grow bags now, or wait? Also, should i add garden vegetable/fruit waste to the soil?
I have other vegetables like broccoli, squash, beets, tomatoes, and much more doing the same. They are growing beautifully ❤ but i am unsure when to transplant them to grow bage. For the big vegetables i have 5 lb bags, medium 3 lb, and for herbs 1lb. Love your videos!! New sub!
Hello. I wouldn't transplant carrots at all. You can damage or lose their taproot therefore they are better sown directly. How shallow are those boxes? And what is the carrot variety?
No, don't add any veg/fruit waste to the soil.
The best time to transplant is as soon as the weather allows to. For example I have already transplanted broccoli and lettuces, but tomatoes and peppers have to wait until cold nights are gone.

Don't forget to use the carrot tops for pesto ❤😊
Im italian , you are Satan
Great idea! I will look up the recipe for this year 👍
Thank You very much ☺
the whole carrot is a top 😂
How often water in?
Omg those are the cutest carrots, I'm gonna get some rondo seeds. How do the greens taste?
I juiced most of it with beets etc.. The taste was quite noticable but pleasant. Like fresh carrots 🙃
Thank You very much! ☺🍀
Did you water them daily?
Hello. The most frequent watering was last 10-14 days before harvest. Roughly Every to every other day on sunny day.
At 1:21 you state a temperature. Is this the temp of the water you are using? If so, has every watering got to be around that temp or are you ok to use unheated water after that? Sorry for the enquiry, my dad passed away and I'm the new understudy!
Hello. That is the optimal temperature for carrot seeds germiation. You can water it with cold water, as long as the around temperature is as warmer so the soil will heat up.
Nothing to apologise for! This is what the comment section is made for 👍
Feel free to ask anything related to the topic and I will do my best to answer 💪
@@Liap Ahh, I get you, it's the optimal temp for germination and not the water temp so thanks for that. Another quick Q if that's ok. The wood shavings, are they there to deter any sort of pest?
@@ac9110the wood shavings serve as mulch. They help keeping the soil moist and maintain stable temperature.
Dobry deň pozerám vaše video a nemôžem sa dopozerať jak môžete tak rozmnožovať mrkvu v bednickach ste ma naštartovali skúsim to aj ja
Dobrý deň, určite skúste 🙂 stojí za to! 🥕🍀
What are you putting on top of the soil?
Those are spruce shavings.
Why newspaper and cardboard box? One or the other?
So the soil doesn’t fall out. Cardboard, it is stronger 💪🙂
Your carrots looks beautiful mine the birds just keep on eating all of my plants😢
Hello. My neighbour uses cd's to detter birds from his garden. He just ties them and let them move in the wind. Maybe it will work for You too.
Thank You very much :)
What is the purpose of the wood shavings please?
They help the soil remain moist and maintain stable temperature.
They look like strawberry carrots!😂
Exactly! 😀
How did the water runs out
It goes out through the cardboard easily 🙂
I know this sounds crazy.
I am having a hard time finding real outside dirt.
Ugh❤
That sounds crazy 🙂 why is that?
Where do you get sawdust
I get my wood shavings from local carpenter.
como vou faser isso
Da mesma forma que eu fiz ☺🍀
But why is he young ؟؟🤔
This variety doesn't grow classic long carrot root :)
That's a lot of soil cost for a few dozen carrots.. even though these are not normal carrots - they only cost $1.25 a lb in the store... I'd say you spent a lot more than that on seeds, water, soil and the containers.
The carrots in the fridge grocery stores are garbage.
Homegrown veggies taste better. ❤
You wont find these carrots at most grocery stores but anyway, you sort of missed the point.
@@a.leehilliard4716 Not sure where live.. but the carrots near me are delicoius!
@@DB-vt1kk Not necessarily... last batch I grew were bitter and woody... $.99 pack from the store were sweet and delicious!
