    Danny the warrior. Jamaica could always depend on him to do his best. Can't forgot his successful transition from 400m to hurdles, wasn't always a perfect hurdler but he got it done. Thanks Sir D!

    This was a well educated interview with the two veterans and of course Mr McFarland made some valuable points, Franno is the man and the JAAA should stay out the way and allowed these coach to do their duties. JAAA duties is help funding the athletes by getting endorsement deal and contract for the athletes kudos to you Dr Greg I'm Mr Danny McFarland🇯🇲✌

    You guys are two of my favorites. I definitely should’ve been amongst that group of athletes to pass the torch off to you guys but life took me in a different direction… I remember in 1988 members of the JAAA was calling me on promising a ticket to Jamaica until this day I didn’t get a ticket, I got to the trials the day before my events with Olympic qualifiers in both 400m and 800m , I finished 3 rd 800m and was never selected, after running consistently 45 low splits all season

    Danny McFarlene kudos to you for speaking your truth authentically, always had yeo man respect for you.Greg as former elite athlete that represented Jamaica you come across like you are unaware, of these things.
    I am a track fan following the sport from high school. You lead the demonstrations in the athletes village at the 2000 Olympics because of the lack of transparency in the selection of athletes. So, you are fully aware of some of these issues.
    If you ask me, you should use your platform to put pressure on the powers to change how things are done.
    There's too many pri madonas running things in Jamaica at all levels. Leadership in Jamaica lacks accountability,I watch your videos and generally leave feeling let down by your reluctance to call things as they are.Why is my question!!

    • @LetsTalkWithDrGreg
      @LetsTalkWithDrGreg  Месяц назад

      My brother, the one of the purpose of my platform is to open the eyes of all people to see the things going on in Jamaica track and field. I will continue to use my platform to build bridges and walls. The Jamaican federations are necessary in many ways. Indeed, they need to be transparent in every way. The messages in my videos made that very clear. However, do not be fooled. The JAAA and the JOA are necessary for sports in Jamaica. For instance, many of the yearly development meets that help the athlete’s weekly are sponsored in some way by the JAAA. The athletes cannot represent their country without a local federation. What the federations need to do it to get their acts together, I have made that clear in every way. Keep this in mind, force, aggression or insult the people you need to make change in the athletes' lives is not always the answer. Much respect.

      @LetsTalkWithDrGreg Thanks for your response,
      and points well taken. I am not in any way suggesting we don't need these bodies.I am almost 60 years old, and these issues come up almost every single time ,there's major championships on the horizon.
      Neither am I saying anyone should be acrimonious towards the leadership of these organisations,however just like the athletes need them,they need the athletes too.
      As Danny stated, the JAAA consistently behaves like they are independent of the athletes and fans, so its not a partnership.If we are honest, this is one of the primary reasons we have underachieved
      international and senior level when compared to our performances at the junior levels. I know many people will disagree, but I am sure data is there to bear that out.
      Leadership at all levels in Jamaica is rife with egos,one upmanship, and nepotism.While you are bringing the issue to the fore in your chosen way ,where do we go when nothing is changing.Why can't the public see audited financial statements of the JAAA,? Why doesn't the public know the members of the various committees, etc.
      Why don't you start a petition for the committees and selection policies to be nade public using your platform given that you are a former athlete? I am sure it would be supported.
      Evil reigns when good people stay silent. My thoughts ,respect to you, sir!!!

      @@pennylou4270 point taken. I’ll do my best use my platform in a honest way to make the change. I have done a lot behind the scenes to make a difference. I cannot insult the people I need to sit, talk to and negotiate with if I am to make a better way for the athletes. God bless

      @LetsTalkWithDrGreg A very important point about how to build relationships without the insult.However, the attitude and behaviour of the JAAA is insulting to the athletes and, by extension fans.Much blessings, I look forward to your continued fight to see track and field grow.

    I've been saying for the past 2 years....When Franno retires.(and Mr. Mills to a lessor extent)......Wi Corner dark because outside of the one or two athletes that will make it through the US College system........we wont have any real chance at doing well in Championships. As for a Statue... I doubt very much that Franno want any such thing from them.

      I was also.of that believe and I did mentioned it on another vid., but you've been there and done that for many years, I.hope.many of our 400m runners take notice. We are acknowledge as a World.power in the sprints our National sr athletes needs to step up on their performances at the domestic level. I would suggest to the jaaa's that they include the Jr's in that relay as a matter fact relays should be organised with both SR & Jr teams competing against each other at the trials. the European staged relays at that their trials.
