@@maynorb21 That's what I thought. Then again almost every story so far was either inside, underground or in a city. You could say the little foliage in the cities have already merged to make the behemoths.
It's honestly quite impressive how you've been able to avoid having to explain what happened to plant life during the events of WDB for like 17 articles. Though I have formulated my own theory as I read the very first entry of this SCP that the plants are also turned into flesh monsters though I didn't think that they were separate from the animal flesh monsters. Anyways the storyline of this SCP is honestly one of the best storytelling I've ever seen and I can't wait for more entries!
I think even plant life is somewhat part of the living life that breath unless the wdb flesh infuse with plant life itself which is kind of clever to let the other flesh to disguise itself with the forest I mean damn that unfortunate main character was already trap from the very beginning the she step into the forest.
im fairly certain its that trees are so completely different from sapient matter that it cant really move, due to no motor funtion existing in the first place, so at most Amazonian forests might have detection systems with Venus fly traps and pitcher plants and the like, but then again the foliage is so thick in the amazon that its always night so who knows.
If When Day Breaks is a hivemind entity, as we've seen it to be, then I think it logically could feel someone submerged in or even simply walking through the forest goop. Sure, the forest didn't initially communicate like that, but the plants can feel someone moving to some degree and by this point it's all one big entity, able to feel across its whole surface now that the bark and other dead portions of the trees are gone. I wonder what happened to the root systems? The sun's effect would spread to the roots, so are they remaining underground, supporting the trees like they did before and maybe sustaining it with biomass from bugs in the soil? Might they come up from the ground like spears to stop someone who is getting through the forest? Also, some other miscellaneous questions: This happened to all plants, obviously. But did most of them get assimilated into moving organisms? Presumably bushes and the like would, whereas bigger trees would become stationary entities. Also, does fire still spread like it once would among the forests? I'm sure the flesh is terrified of that, and rightfully so if that's the case.
Based on what Shaggy said to me, the plants still operate as plants but they are melted. They aren’t connected to the flesh or have flesh like qualities I guess you could say, they are just melted.
@@MR_ILLUSTRATED I think based on his question if fire still spreads like it did before, a possibly interesting story could be about a survivor getting caught up in a forest fire.

Now what would happen to SCP-1010 in this scenario... would it still try to defend the woods against the flesh monsters or would it just Lay dormant forever. Or maybe it would watch it's own demise, since it cannot save the forest from decaying any longer.
my headcanon as to what exactly caused the when day breaks 001 events to occur relates to scp 1682, the solar parasite, and SCP 1548, the star, the hateful. with SCP 1548 (and also how it is implied through all of the stories for the daybreak series so far as well as by SCP 179) it is implied that the sun is both alive, but also akin to something like a living, sapient, powerful, magical god-like entity. It has also been shown in past stories and events that the sun loves humanity and wishes to protect it, making the events of daybreak all the crazier and out there. But what if the sun simply isn't in its right state of mind? SCP 1682 is a type of stellar worm-dragon-esc entity that lay its eggs in a star, before said eggs hatch and slowly begin to eat the star from the inside out as they mature and develop. and it is also shown that within SCP 1682, that one such entity has already inhabited our star and laid eggs within it not too long ago. Parasites can greatly inhibit an entity's cognitive faculties and make them behave in erratic and non-standard ways. So what if these parasites - once they had hatched - began to - either intentionally or as a consequence of their inhabitation of the sun - alter the mind of the sapient godlike entity we call the sun in unforeseen ways, making them more violent and psychopathic, thus leading to what we see as the 001 when day breaks proposal? I feel like this way of thinking about the when say breaks proposal makes the most sense as to why the star, which has always been a benevolent being, suddenly went rabid for seemingly no reason. and it also explains what SCP 179 meant when she stated that the sun seemed to be not in its right mind right before the event of when day breaks occur and right before the sun inevitably kills her with a solar flare.
This channel is underrated and did not get a deserving million subs, you and your team has work hard for it and yet only not that few has watch it. Also the forest is absolutely horrifying and I think I obviously know why they prefer to walk on a desert even it is crawling with those melted organisms crawling across. Can't wait for either another day break, scp 1730, or another scp.
maybe some of the forests are differnt parts of SCP-407 attempting and failing to come into the world, but more likely that since plants dont have a conciousness they just melt and not move doing only the first part of 001 but not joining it
Another Awesome addition! I wonder if the Foundation could have placed a Space Station in Orbit before everything went to crap, or shortly afterwards? One large enough to hold hundreds, if not Thousands of people. Or perhaps multiple stations. They would be safe from the mutated flesh on Earth, and could keep their orbits on the side opposite to the sun.
Theories for fun: If bugs are all melted and the flesh has learned to use eyeballs and small flesh pieces to survey malls, camps, and other areas, would it not be harder to survive in a habitat like a forest or sewer due to the increased population of insects and small animals within them? If the plants are melted into a goo like substance as well, does that mean that the good is flammable, like rubber or would it shrivel so much it can't move? I know that scp's like scp 053 do not get affected by the sun due to it's anomalous affects and that other non organic scp like 1471 and 079 don't get hurt but what about and 073/076 or scp's that have fast regenerative skin/multiple lives? Also side theory I think that some scp's like 073 and 052's anomalous ability to revert harm from them to the attacker might also hurt/damage the sun slowly. If I have any other theories I'll edit this comment
This is an amazing series. Through watching all of it i started to have some ideas and questions about it. So here's a couple of them: 1. Is it possible to break free from 001's " prison " without that medal from St Elmo's fire part 2? 2. Can 001-A be eliminated by regular chemicals. Like an arrow or a spear dipped in Bleach or something? 3. Does 001-A need to be fried/boiled before consuming it? 4. Is it possible to make a 001-A turn against the other 001-A's with mind controlling devices or magic? 5. Can 001-A can combine itself with non living organism's. Like metal, stone, sand, etc? I know these questions sound stupid, but I can't help but think about them.
To answer 1. No it is impossible as far as we know. Dr Brights Medallion is an Scp object 963 and is unique + bright needs to protect it from the light otherwise it will lose it's ability. 2. No as far as i am aware, only fire Works 3. I don't know. No Idea if it even is good for consumption. 4. No The Flesh is one giant Hive mind and even if it works it would be a singular entity vs the World 5. No the flesh can only incorporate organic material from living beings, this is the reason why the trees are not part of the flesh, they are melted yes but they are not connected to the big flesh Hivemind. The Vines created in this story were made off the melted insects, birds, bears, possibly Scp-1000 and other forest dwellers. Hope these clears up somethings. Should i be wrong about something you guys are free to correct me friendly
you need to cover earth with something and figure out alternative source of energy and heating, explode vulcanos bring out ash and smoke or nuclear winter, better alternative - construct dysonsphere. If impossible go transhumanism route, and upload your mind into robot body... well options are numerous provided resources would be available. use soda machine for infinite resources.
While all this is happening, I wonder what SCP-2399 is up to while seeing Earth get mutated into a red fleshy lump? And how far are they into completing repairs
I don't know why, but I found this tale to be more disturbing than the other ones in this series. Yeah, I know SCP-001 When Day Breaks is disturbing all around; and there's very little in this universe that isn't unnerving. And the sun turning against life is horrifying in and of itself. But the idea that even the plants have turned against the unaffected is a different type of horror. No matter how the unaffected may adapt to survive, no matter what strategies they devise to withstand the melted creatures, there's the aspect of the unexpected. No one would survive them to warn survivors that the plants were against them, or that they melted and merged with animals/people to hunt them down. No one would even consider the plants a threat, making them insidious and lethal given time; and in this world, they've got all the time they need. And this isn't even considering the fact that the plants may still have an underground root system, connecting them like a web over the span of states, countries or even continents; passing information efficiently without anyone being none the wiser. It really makes it feel like in this already desolate and doomed world, nowhere is safe, nothing can be underestimated and everything is against you. I loved this. I may need to revisit the when day breaks series to confirm if this is the most disturbing so far (IMO).
Plants, animals, now imagine fungi A massive web of connected flesh mushrooms able to communicate together, creating traps as the second you get into their area of influence they plan your doom. Or to make them a bit more different have them be able to move but slowly
Now it just became a combination among fallout's vault 22 the last of us and lovecraft's descrption over the area arround the cabin in ''the color out of space)
Now I have a great question. What about underwater creatures? As you move from coastal waters to deep sea, kilometres down, what happens? How does reef life react and what about giant whales and other things?
I believe that they would turn and just sink down to the bottom there they collect fish and find underwater caves to find more fish to carry them back out and then bring them up the side of the ocean to a water level where the sun can Change them fast enought to not waste too much time so that they can go back down to repeat
@@whothefrickareyou8106 Yes, but at the same time buoyancy plays a role. Although I believe you are mostly correct in believing they'd just sink. But what about the creatures that are above the ocean floor but deep enough for sunlight not to penetrate?
In the deep sea, giant creatures that resurface will be unable to return back down to the depths below. Because the majority of their flesh has melted, both the friction from the salt and the pressure from the ocean will prevent any flesh from getting down there, or if it does, it will premenantly lock them thanks to the pressure of the ocean.
I mean, the melted fish blobs would probably either float to the top and be incapable of changing their position, or sink to the bottom and be compressed by the water pressure. Melted flesh doesn't really compare to things like fins and swimbladders. I'd imagine the Deep sea fish would be fine, so long as they don't venture too close to the floor.
I hate how some people do scp videos but don't have a good voice for it and make it seem dull don't even explain much on it either this guy I like a new subscriber I am this channel I like I do
The Three Portlands, When Day Breaks This idea has me hella fucking hyped as a resident of Portland Maine, let me know what you all thing because I want to write this so bad. I imagine it as one of the last bastions of humanity, as it is mentioned that the sunlight is created by the Mayor (the anomalous/godlike leader of Three Portlands)
SCP-2967. Octopus and Crow, once the deadliest of enemies, now stand united in the face of total annihilation. But can even their combined strength prevail when every soldier they lose becomes the enemy?
Misc. questions about other SCP's: What happened to SCP's like 1256, 256, and the internet based SCP's? What happened to Wilson's Wildlife Solutions, and the Chaos Insurgency? These probably have very obvious self-explanatory answers, but I would like to see some interpretations on them. Also to add on, The song of Genesis and 002
This make me wonder what's happening in the Ocean, surely the foundation would've an underwater base located at the abyssal zone and what happens to the life there.
I’d love to see SCP-7000 (Dr. William Wallace Wettle) in the When Day Breaks scenario. Sure, with his luck he’d probably be in the parking lot when the world ends. But think of it this way: the universe doesn’t want Wettle to be happy. The melted flesh monsters, while terrifying, are undeniably happy in their new form. Wettle could be dragged around by (another) MTF, constantly being grabbed by flesh monsters and then having things happen that kill the flesh and injure him.
I never thought if plants were affected by 001, imagine if all plants on earth also melted and joined the ranks of the flesh. South América would have an enormous wave of flesh bigger than 169 sweeping continents of survivors
I believe that they would turn and just sink down to the bottom there they collect fish and find underwater caves to find more fish to carry them back out and then bring them up the side of the ocean to a water level where the sun can Change them fast enought to not waste too much time so that they can go back down to repeat
@@beckett52nerd23 also I think scp 3000 would be an intresting case I imagine thousands of pounds of flesh pushing the giant creature trying to get it out into the light with the effects of 3000 possibly making some of the piles forget where they are and what they are trying to do
@@beckett52nerd23 and 054 seems to be made out of water and in the original story of when day breaks the sun only affects organic beings so she should be fine tho for scp illustrated universe probobly not
Ok this is a bit out there, but for April fools can we get a video about a scp-001 scenario in the world of dark souls 1, specifically following Solaire and how he would react to it? I think that would be pretty neat if it’s not too much of a hassle.
This made me think having any sort of hidden community is pointless as one person getting turned means the whole location, any secret communication to out smart the sun, tactics, weapons, and emergency exits are all known to the sun, all the people you care about are doomed from you turning
You know between the Sun turning everyone into flesh monsters, and the homicidal plants I don't think there's any safe place on Earth anymore. Don't even get me started on some of the SCPs who are now loose and free to cause as much destruction as possible.
At first I thought this was about SCP-407 but it turned out to be how normal plant life was affected by the sun. This does make me wonder if SCP-407 would be any different or if it would suffer the same fate.
I just realized that when day breaks is an scp version of the the flood a common form of transmission complete transformation of the affected and the more they absorb the smarter they get

This series just keeps getting better and better
this dude really deserves more attention😃

"Look at this it's ₉₉₉!"
💀
getting a new when day breaks is like christmas day
This, was SOOOOO GOOOOD. Oh man, a proper scary story ending
maybe some of the forests are differnt parts of SCP-407 attempting and failing to come into the world, but more likely that since plants dont have a conciousness they just melt and not move doing only the first part of 001 but not joining it
My theory is people/animals using the plants as camouflage and using it to trap victims.
Moonlight would still be an issue but that might work! Perhaps a submarine would also suffice.
Theories for fun:
If bugs are all melted and the flesh has learned to use eyeballs and small flesh pieces to survey malls, camps, and other areas, would it not be harder to survive in a habitat like a forest or sewer due to the increased population of insects and small animals within them?
I always wondered how plant life was affected, keep up the good work
This is an amazing series. Through watching all of it i started to have some ideas and questions about it. So here's a couple of them:
To answer
1. No it is impossible as far as we know. Dr Brights Medallion is an Scp object 963 and is unique + bright needs to protect it from the light otherwise it will lose it's ability.
2. No as far as i am aware, only fire Works
3. I don't know. No Idea if it even is good for consumption.
4. No The Flesh is one giant Hive mind and even if it works it would be a singular entity vs the World
Why would you need to cook it? Any pathogens including prions are presumably apart of it so they’d be like the rest of the biomass
Literally about to go to bed for work mate... Awesome still!
Amazing content as always. Great work Illustrated!
I wanna see “What happened on Site 13” in when day breaks
Man i love this series
That was fantastic
Just waiting for that epic episode where all of humanity rises up and gives the finger to this sun x)
I wanna see the colossus beat the shit out of a huge tower of flesh. That’s my wish.
@@bluecube9515 that’d be fucking awesome, I could die happy if I saw that
So real, this was. Horrifying.
Scp 999 facing scp 001 when day breaks
I still do hope that somehow, the world can heal.
you need to cover earth with something and figure out alternative source of energy and heating, explode vulcanos bring out ash and smoke or nuclear winter, better alternative - construct dysonsphere.
Maybe its goal is switched to destroy the sun somehow? Or destroy earth and nearby planets so the sun can’t do anything
Another fantastic video by you... Hm.
Do you think SCP-4498 would be a great SCP for you to illustrate?
that's honestly the most horrifying way to go ive ever seen
I loved how this video gets so creepy and beautiful at the same time.
“Come with me into the f-forest.”
“THIS IS COU ALLAH! The spirit tree! For generations it had guided th-…. YOU HAVE TO GET US THE FUCK OUTA HERE!”
How did i miss this!
Scp 420-j and scp 001,the story we need
being tied up in the drenching rain about to become a tortured atrocity when the sun comes up is quite awful
Yay! Now I know why 'formerly wooded areas' are to be avoided
Probably trees just screaming
Since melted monstrocities takes control of them
can we have a story on SCP 2006 vs when day breaks
broo it was raining and as soon as this video started it went away and the sun is now shining bright af
This one was interesting because I never really thought about how the 001 event effected the environment and plants
Plants, animals, now imagine fungi
A massive web of connected flesh mushrooms able to communicate together, creating traps as the second you get into their area of influence they plan your doom. Or to make them a bit more different have them be able to move but slowly
Imagine bacteria and viruses
@@Doge-zb7ku a virus that compels you to go outside
"Have them move but slowly" That's just the Plague Inc fungus in a nutshell 😅
The art is so good now!
This is amazing! Thank you for this very well written and drawn story!
Idea: SCP-2264 Or a Alagadda Tale.
Thanks!
I've only just realised you left a tip, sorry I didn't say thank you sooner. Thanks and you're welcome :)
I hate how some people do scp videos but don't have a good voice for it and make it seem dull don't even explain much on it either this guy I like a new subscriber I am this channel I like I do
Awesome! I love the When Day Breaks storyline!
Much love from Vancouver
Now I know why they said to avoid formerly-forested areas
The Three Portlands, When Day Breaks
This idea has me hella fucking hyped as a resident of Portland Maine, let me know what you all thing because I want to write this so bad.
I imagine it as one of the last bastions of humanity, as it is mentioned that the sunlight is created by the Mayor (the anomalous/godlike leader of Three Portlands)
The hell is three portlands and why does it make me thing in the start of ''the shadoe over Insmmouth''
@@candlecalderondiaz7786 its a weird interdimensional realm that is a fusion and parody of the 3 cities called Portland irl
SCP-2967. Octopus and Crow, once the deadliest of enemies, now stand united in the face of total annihilation. But can even their combined strength prevail when every soldier they lose becomes the enemy?
OMGGGG THE LIL 999 PLUSHIE IS ADORABLE. I now want a life sized one
Hmm so wouldn't our fields/farms and gardens be a similar sludge?
Would make travel near impossible without being detected, damn
Misc. questions about other SCP's: What happened to SCP's like 1256, 256, and the internet based SCP's? What happened to Wilson's Wildlife Solutions, and the Chaos Insurgency? These probably have very obvious self-explanatory answers, but I would like to see some interpretations on them. Also to add on, The song of Genesis and 002
The song of Genesis is neutralized so nothing would happen while 002 would probably just stay dormant with no real changes
This make me wonder what's happening in the Ocean, surely the foundation would've an underwater base located at the abyssal zone and what happens to the life there.
Man I love watching people suffer in agony from eldritch horrors while eating my dinner
The sudden tone change on that 999 plushie bit almost gave me a heart attack
Well this was terrifying.
I love the squeaky "Its 9.99!!"
Yay another 001 video
Very cool, I got a suggestion a remake of your 610 series or the scarlet king
Black jesus, that was just... dark. No lesson, no buildup/ reward. Don't get me wrong i LOVED it. But sometimes its nice to just have a bad end.
I kindly disagree

I am loving this great work
So the plants become a gooey mess of potential death, just an algae of former grass, bushes, and leaves. Sounds incredibly disgusting.
I never thought if plants were affected by 001, imagine if all plants on earth also melted and joined the ranks of the flesh. South América would have an enormous wave of flesh bigger than 169 sweeping continents of survivors
Even if the Plant's didn't join the ranks of the flesh, south America would be fcked unless you escaped to the Andes mountains
I now wanna know what happens to the Ocean and the life in it. Or even what happens to SCP 054.
I believe that they would turn and just sink down to the bottom there they collect fish and find underwater caves to find more fish to carry them back out and then bring them up the side of the ocean to a water level where the sun can Change them fast enought to not waste too much time so that they can go back down to repeat
@@whothefrickareyou8106 Maybe. Perhaps we'll see a video about it one day.
@@beckett52nerd23 also I think scp 3000 would be an intresting case I imagine thousands of pounds of flesh pushing the giant creature trying to get it out into the light with the effects of 3000 possibly making some of the piles forget where they are and what they are trying to do
@@beckett52nerd23 and 054 seems to be made out of water and in the original story of when day breaks the sun only affects organic beings so she should be fine tho for scp illustrated universe probobly not
@@whothefrickareyou8106 I wonder where she is at?
Considering the last WDB video came out a couple weeks ago, this is more than a welcome surprise.
the plants don’t get enough attention in the Daybreak canon. love this story! :D
Ok this is a bit out there, but for April fools can we get a video about a scp-001 scenario in the world of dark souls 1, specifically following Solaire and how he would react to it? I think that would be pretty neat if it’s not too much of a hassle.
Her mistake was following the damn thing
in that situation I would have went back to my own business
This made me think having any sort of hidden community is pointless as one person getting turned means the whole location, any secret communication to out smart the sun, tactics, weapons, and emergency exits are all known to the sun, all the people you care about are doomed from you turning
Reminds me a lot of the Visorak webs from Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows.
I thought they seemed familiar!
This is probably the scariest thing to ever come out of Internet lore
No its not
Aww, I thought this was going to be about the forest SCP in the abandoned mall.
Keep up the great work!
Wow! 🤯
GOD that is horifying but great
Now i wonder about the deep sea life...
Amazing! Thank you!
dayum bruh u keep up the good work
You know between the Sun turning everyone into flesh monsters, and the homicidal plants I don't think there's any safe place on Earth anymore. Don't even get me started on some of the SCPs who are now loose and free to cause as much destruction as possible.
At this point I think it is for the best if the creatures destroy everything because uhh...this.
Most SCP's anomalous effects are neutralized by the sun.
