I'm sitting outside by a fire place and it's still a 24 degrees (celsius ;)) summer evening. And just quietly listening to your Ramble. Pure magic! Thanks, and do keep em coming :)
I didn't know that the Macbook camera was so bad! If you have an Android phone I highly recommend DroidCam which allows the use of an Android phone or tablet as a webcam over USB or even wireless. I think there's something similar baked into iPhones.
I helped advise JNMartin on the Doom 64 code and the tiniest bit of the Dreamcast coding (concerning brightness). An interesting development since this video, Doom 64 on the dreamcast now has dynamic lighting. So the guns have flashes, the fireballs have glows, and other lights too. This additionally boosts the brightness a bit more! This all started when JNMartin and I were talking about how cool it would be to share Doom 64 mods and custom maps on discs that people could just put in their console and play. Kind of like those old Doom map compilation CDs back in the 90's but for Doom 64 and keeping its console heritage. Given the Dreamcast has a single analog stick like the N64, it just made sense to us for there. I find it particularly cool that you can control the speed of strafing with the Dreamcast analog triggers. It wasnt as easy as we thought to port Doom 64 to the Dreamcast though. Indeed the Dreamcast is a beast compared to the N64 in terms of graphical output. But Doom 64 used various N64 quirks for ROM transfer speeds, rendering quirks, and sprite rendering. JNMartin did figure it out though and Doom 64 runs great! Right now it runs at 30 FPS. But we're considering a technique that PSX Doom used to increase the frame rate, as its engine ran at 15 FPS for some of its calculations, but up to 30 FPS for others; so theoretically as Doom 64 engine runs at 30 FPS, with this technique we can boost up to 60 FPS.
It was very nice that you mentioned PhilsComputerLab. Watching Phils videos inspired me to get into retro pc hobby. You had a very interesting interview with LGR, some time ago (that inspired me to start filming my retro collection). But how about an interview with Phil? I think it would be very interesting.
That bit almost without light was a throwback to very early RUclips times and made me think of the early webcam videos people did 😅. So that was kinda retro as well. Oh, and Doom64 and GTA 3 coming to Dreamcast ... awesome news. Not sure how long this dude will sit on the GTA 3 port, getting it right and test it might take many years, but we'll see. Cheers!
Oh. THAT'S why it's called Lemon64. I never understood that! With my videos, usually about 1/3 of people watch it all the way through, so if I make a longer video, I get higher view duration... unless I release a 6 hour no commentary video of course... although even that had an average view duration of 15 seconds less than usual.

Never knew that was a thing, very cool.

Good morning 😛
I thought there was a finished version of GTA 3 for Dreamcast but Sega turned down the game at the time!
I hope you remembered to drink your water in your hot home studio. ;)
