Hi Ray, I used to take my uncle to the terminal building for a coffee on airshow days. I remember the first tine I took him 10 years back. He said "I don't remember this, it's all modern" (referring to the beautiful 1930's architecture). Then we worked out that the last time he came was to see Amy Johnson's plane before the building was erected! He's since passed away but he used to love to chat to the home guard reenactment group who made him most welcome as he was one of the first to join the LDV at South Holmwood.
Hi John, hope you’re well. Amy Johnson’s plane… wow! That was a long time ago. The airport has been used in several TV programs over the years. It has a great history. Cheers for now, Ray.
The airport bar used to be my regular haunt back in the 70s. I remember Toon Ghose well and he always had time for a general chat. Happy days there but I've not been back since I moved to Devon.
Sad to say that both the aircraft I leant to fly in are now parked in the great airfield in the sky. Started out in a MORANE SAULNIER RALLYE 150ST Past all the tests and got my licence in a PIPER PA-28-161 Then part owned and flew the RALLYE 150ST i started to learn on. A lot of fond memories 🙂 Now i'm just a sad old git who's looking up into the sky with a tear in my eye. Well i woud be! but it's got cold now and i've come in doors to write this 🙂
The terminal is a nice example of art deco architecture.
Haha, that seagull wanted to be the star of the show 😀
Tnx for sharing Ray, 73 Patrick ON4CDJ
Thanks Patrick.

Very nice Ray!
Hey That's really cool Ray!
The seagull was probably thinking Look at me I’m better than that big metal bird with a spinning thing for a nose 😆

Hi Ray I’ve just had lunch in the restaurant there and it was top notch
Excellent!
The Seagull @ 0:50 hahaha 🤣

The seagull showed how it can keep pace with a plane on the ground, if not in the air.
The seagull probably wondering what on earth is going on…
Was the first 18 seconds the sound of your Lister B engine? 🤔🤣
Haha! Not quite! 😂🤣
Alas, they charge like a wounded rhino for landing fees now. Stopped going there. All the piggies get slaughtered in the end. GRRRrrr... : (
That's the outfit had an air show which killed 11 innocent people. As usual in Britain all involved including pilot got off scot free.
I bet SHM on 332Khz was strong too Ray.👍😁73.G7HFS/PA3IKH
