I am so excited about today's video! Today I am reading horror book recommendations from TikTok! This is a video I've been wanting to make for the longest time, and I'm so happy with how it turned out and the fact that I discovered a new all-time favorite book. I do not read horror at all (im a coward and also have an anxiety disorder) but for some reason I love watching booktubers talk about horror stories. it satisfies the curiosity about the books without having to traumatize myself 😅
Not reading horror doesn't make someone coward tho.

I absolutely would watch more videos like this - I think any genre would be a fun watch, but there’s something about finding new horror that hits differently. I do have a recommendation that I think you might genuinely enjoy, but I’m only partway through, so I’ll have a better opinion on it soon, but At Home with the Horrors by Sammy Scott is a novel with 14 short horror stories!
Also thank you for putting Any Man on my radar - I think it will be a very tough read but also very important, so I’ll be picking this up soon 🖤

Any Man was such a glowing five star for me. Also, the strange and fluctuating way the villain was described was genuinely terrifying.

I loved House of Hunger! I did see it as more of a dark fantasy then a horror. I thought it was so interesting to learn that blood skeeves you out. I don't have that issue so I liked the different perspective on how some of the scenes made you feel.

I remember Amber Tamblyn coming out with a nonfiction book called Age of Ignition (could be wrong), I didn’t know she wrote fiction and poetry. I will definitely check out Any Man, this sounded really compelling. great video!

From hearing you talk about Any Man (which I immediately added to my tbr), I think you might enjoy Before You Knew My Name by Jacqueline Bublitz. Read it a few weeks back and the way it made me feel ugghhh! It wasn't a perfect 5 star for me but I believe it too had a lot of solid conversation starters and really gets you to think more.

It’s super cool you read Little Paranoias! The standouts for me in the collection were Weary Bones and Quadrapocalpse, though I do agree that Always in my ear was a unique tale.
I’ve been hearing comparisons to A Dowry of Blood everywhere and I’m so nervous right now because I HATED ADOF and was super excited about AHOH. But I also tried The Year of the Witching and ended up dnfing it 😅😅 so I don’t know. All signs points to NO but damn, the premise sounds so intriguing!!

I definitely agree I was a victim of sexual assault when I was younger and I fully believe that it should be treated equal all the way around I love that you spears awareness to that and you understand the book sound very impactful unfortunately I can’t read that book but I love that there’s something out there that spreads awareness equally cause it definitely happens to men and should be taken very seriously but like always I enjoy your videos you make my whole year always your awesome thank you 🤗🤗🤗

Read Faerie Tale by Raymond Feist. Creepy, atmospheric book about the fae (not Tinkerbell!) and an old farmhouse in New York State. I read it twice.

I also only felt bored or nauseous while reading House of Hunger (and I loved Tender is the Flesh!) so I ended up DNFing at like 80%
Personally, I loved "House of Hunger" and it was one of my favourite reads from last year! Funnily enough, horror and gore isn't my thing, but I still really enjoyed it 😅 Haven't read the other three books, but will 100% add "Any Man" to my tbr! 👏

Read - Vampyrrhic by Simon Clark (about vampires) This book isn't as gory as the House of Hunger, but it is spooky. has some really scary spooky moments.
I'm more into horror and the thriller genre than any other book content videos. 😊
Dirty heads reminds me of the Japanese classic no longer human. It's a visceral look at depression and anxiety and how life's circumstances lead to this man's dark downward spiral. So good.

Back in my younger days, I used to watch daytime soaps mainly to see Amber tamblyn. She was also in a fantastic thriller called spiral. Now that I know she's writing books, I'll have to check them out. I'm also a horror/sci-fi/murder mystery kinda reader so any books/video you do based on that, I'm definitely interested.
