    UPDATE Collected car 8th of Febuary, heater fixed however, car was left with rubbish inside including paper coffee cups that were NOT mine. Rear light I reported hasn't been replaced meaning another appointment will need to be booked so heater fixed earlier than said in above video however car isn't finished. Your in cloud cuckoo land if you think legacy automakers or dealers keep non service items on the shelf job at in case. Was the case maybe 5-10 yrs ago. Not any more. I work for a major ford dealer network owned by ford uk. The problems we have getting body parts/ infotainment/ sync/ tcu etc is a nightmare . Quite often we are waiting 6 months or more for bumpers, fuel flaps etc. 8 months for an infotainment screen on ranger. I could go on and on.

    A PTC is the older style Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) Resistive heater before they brought out heat pumps. It's not an issue on post 2021 cars.

    £900 isn't much less than the total annual running costs of my eleven year old SLK including insurance, tax, petrol and servicing. Insurance is £235 for 6k miles with £500 excess after using a comparison site (Direct line wanted £474 on renewal, massive increase over £290 last year). Quotes I've had for newish EVs tend to be very expensive by comparison.

      I've been comparing EVs with EVs and EVs of the same size and price tesla comes in at more. Quote for Laura (wife) only this week... Tesla Model Y £1154 / Jaguar I-Pace £650 / Ford Mustang Mach-E £850 / Hyundai Kona £490

      @@NicolasRaimo I'm amazed the I-Pace is cheaper to insure than the Tesla. My Zoe used to cost a fair amount compared to most other cars despite a low insurance group. This will become a real issue for Tesla if people don't want used ones....unless the robotaxi thing actually happens

    there are thousands of unsold Teslas in america, makes sense to canbilse a few for parts as they are getting more worthless day by day, EV prices are plummeting due to insurance and range problems

  • @mikadavies660

    Waiting weeks for parts..... IS TOTALLY NORMAL. Just about all franchise dealers do not just hold parts. Totally disagree with "next day delivery for parts" ... Not in 2024.

  • @AndrewEbling

    Yup - it's reports like these, together with crazy insurance prices, which meant I bought a used Skoda Enyaq back in January, instead of leasing a Model Y. I also was not convinced about the lack of ultrasonic sensors.
    This stuff is already hurting Tesla sales. I told them so in the survey they sent me.

  • @edwyncorteen1527

    @8:00 you say bumpers are less common than a PTC heater????? Surely in any accident the bumpers are the first thing that will need replacing, a PTC heater will very rarely need replacing hence the issue you had.

    • @NicolasRaimo
      @NicolasRaimo  5 месяцев назад

      I've got a friend who was told 8 weeks for a bumper.... I believe from talking to Tesla they aim to do better on parts and know there not getting it right. Tesla parts and bodyshops also have the added issue is some bodyshop may alter the truth a little to suite them

    • @edwyncorteen1527
      @edwyncorteen1527 5 месяцев назад

      @@NicolasRaimo They do indeed need to improve, my point, however, is that a bumper is going to be replaced way more often than your heater, if you listen to what you said is sounds the opposite and a heater will be a more commonly required part.

    Tesla doesn't build cars in the same way as everyone else. Traditionally a manufacturer uses a network of trusted suppliers to provide the majority of the parts required and assembles the car in its factory. This approach is typified by Toyota. Thus this means that there are companies out there whose job it is to produce parts and they bear the costs of any oversupply etc., but this means that they are incentivised to supply extra parts for the repair market as it gives them increased sales.
    Tesla adopted the original Henry Ford, iron ore comes in at one end of the production line and a Model T comes out of the end of the production line. This approach proved to be hugely successful in the new EV market where supply chains did not already exist and Tesla had overall control of its own destiny. The downside to this is that, like the production techniques of Gigacasting reduce manufacture cost they increase repair costs. Spare parts for repairs are an expensive extra cost to the Tesla operation that traditional manufactures don't have.
    As Tesla scales up the downsides to their "Henry Ford" approach will increase. There is a reason why the motor industry transitioned to a supply partner arrangement.

    How much was the cost of the part and labour from the invoice?
    My tesla is out of warranty curious to know what to expect?
    I know that you paid zero but list prices usually still there against each item.
