    The Honda shadow is the best cruiser that Honda has made, they made over a million of them. Honda make the best quality machine for the fraction of the cost of a Harley.

      Or bring back the VTX. I think the market is showing cruisers falling out of sales numbers (no thanks to Euro5 emmissions applying to American market that only rides a couple thousand miles a year!). I'm surprised the Fury is still on the table, but not as easy to ride, and not as smooth on bad pavement.

      Euro5 emmissions standards is killing off the cruiser class. They could put the Africa Twin 1100 in it, but then the shadow would cost $15000. Most people run their gas lawn mowers more often than their bikes statistically, so I don't know why they care about emissions on bikes when most of the cruiser class here in the U.S. rips off the stock mufflers and cats anyway.

      The Shadow would be great depending on your height. They are getting a little cramped for me, but rideable. If I were 6', it would be another story. Coming from a dirt bike background, you would feel at home on an Adventure bike, like the Honda NC750X, Suzuki Vstrom, or Kawasaki Versys.

    While satin black is still in vogue {I was doing it in the early 70's}, what pisses me off about it is that the consumer is getting screwed. Even if that black is powdercoat {and it might just be paint that won't last}, it's a hell of a lot cheaper for Honda than chrome. So the price goes up and you get a lot less for your money - no chrome rims, pipes, fender struts, etc. Just makes the used ones more desirable.

    • @ridingwithmarshall
      @ridingwithmarshall  11 месяцев назад

      This is true, and for a bigger reason; the Japanese to American dollar ratio has a gap now. We wouldn't pay for the bikes they want to sell us, it would cost us a lot more. They are cost-cutting new designs, and canceling orders on some bikes altogether (try to find a new Africa Twin!).

    Two things I don't get about the new version. First, why not LED lights? Honda, it's 2023 everything has LED lights now, why are we still on regular lights?
    Second, why on earth is this bike not available in Europe?
    I really don't get it. It's within the Euro 6 emission regulation but still not available. Beyond 2004 there are no new models being sold now since then.
    Other than that, I really hate the signal lights and the fact they replaced the chrome with a flat color. They do it on every bike and it's really annoying. Sure it can look premium, but I prefer shiny 😂
    Other than that I believe that if it feels low for you, my 6'1 meat shack would look awkward on such a low bike.
    Right now I have a cbx and I really want a cruiser to keep company to the other one but the only available in Europe are the 500 and 1000cc Rebels which I also don't really like. Really there are just 4-5 bikes available in the cruiser market if you're looking for something new or if you don't want to either spend 20k euro or go for a Chinese manufacturer, who seem to be taking over the market.
    Great video and very informative!
    PS: Regarding the start of the video. You should really not care about what anybody has to say about something you do/make if you are satisfied with it. If you decide to care, take it as constructive criticism. Everybody on the internet is an expert on everything. 😂

    • @ridingwithmarshall
      @ridingwithmarshall  11 месяцев назад +1

      It would be too short for you. Why does Honda cheap out? Yen vs. Euro vs. Dollar, I imagine. The cruiser market is slowly dying, I'm afraid, as we older gents hang up the keys and the younger crowd doesn't want to be their fathers. I hear it all the time from the younger crowd "That looks too heavy", I'm not about chrome", "My vape pen is out". Ok that last one was a freebee. At over 6', you should look at the used cruisers if you can find them cheap, like the Star Raider, a VTX, or... you would love my Honda Fury, and fit on it even better than I.

    • @kiritsakis1
      @kiritsakis1 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@ridingwithmarshall Indeed most people I know don't really like chrome on bikes and are afraid of the weight, being from the Balkans though most of them are heavy smokers so the vape joke is wasted here 🤣
      Most used cruisers realistically available to me because of my location and budget (5-6k euros) are either very very heavily used and misused sadly, or too many changes have been done to them to the point that they look nothing like the original. The only one that came even close to owning was an amazing 1995 Intruder (800cc) but when the owner saw the huge smile I came back with from the test ride, he upped the price "because he could tell that I needed it" and I just stormed off. Another very very beautiful one was a Boulevard, I wanna say 1998 models but not 100% sure, but sadly as soon I saw it in person I knew that I would have to spend close to the asking price in repairs...
      In the end I kinda settled for the cbx, which I ended up loving to death, but the sound and the feel is not even comparable to any pre-2000 cruiser. Not to even mention the newer ones with all the flat coloring, mufflers and everything.
      The models you mentioned, sadly are either not available, or in some rare cases, I found some but without their license plates which you cannot issue new ones as of 2018 or something thanks to the huge emission taxes due to manufacturing date alone.
      It's almost infuriating how high the asking prices for used cruisers are here. 6k euro for a bike from the 90s that "just needs a new motor", or "needs minor restoration".

    • @ridingwithmarshall
      @ridingwithmarshall  11 месяцев назад

      @@kiritsakis1 I'm sorry the bike selection is so horrible there! Bikes everywhere are going up in price to absurd levels. I used to buy used bikes for $300, and not put a dime into them other than a tire, but those same bikes, 30 years later, are $2000 now.
