    Strange title. But in real life you dont need to bulk unless ur underweight or too lean of dont have enough energy from your current diet. If you already fat or overweight and want to add more muscle adding an even bigger surplus is NOT the answer. So in simple terms if your already FAT dont bulk more and if you are very lean bulking may be a good idea. Just because you want to add more muscle (and who doesn’t) does not give you an excuse to add in a large surplus as all that will happen is you will be big and fat.

      1. Are you clinically obese?
      2. Do you feel your weight prevents you from doing cardio on a regular basis?
      3. Do you have chronic joint pain from being too heavy?
      If you answered no to all of these questions then you don’t need to cut. It’s healthy to have some belly fat, a lot of people do. The goal here is to be healthy is it not? If you’re at a healthy weight there’s no need to cut unless you just want to do it to see how it feels. Not everyone needs to be shredded Instagram model level. If you want to do that then go ahead, it’s your choice but if you’re not having health problems from your weight I would prioritize muscle growth if I were you but that’s just me

    I swear to god he's spot on. I ate so little, almost starving, my sleep was messed up, my erection quality was so bad, I was not progressing in the gym, always anxious etc. I added just 1000kcal to my daily diet and all of these symptoms are gone. Also, if you think you can get rid of skinny fatness by eating less, well your body will take whatever you eat and store them in the fat cells. It's weird, when I started eating more, I was thinking that I'm gonna become skinny fatter(?) but the opposite happened, I gained muscle.

      That’s called newbie gains. Almost everybody that is skinny fat has just not gotten their newbie gains. When you’re first getting newbie gains, your muscles are going to have exponential growth in a short amount of time as long as you workout a decent amount, eat enough, and get good sleep. Newbie gains when you’re skinny fat will make you get rid of fat and make you have significant muscle growth at the same time. That doesn’t apply after you’ve gotten all your newbie gains. If you want me to give more clarification or give further information, feel free to ask.

    The biggest problem I have with the "just bulk bro" advice is that people use it as an excuse to get fat as fuck. Like bro, maybe in the first few months of lifting go for a classic bulk but you really don't need that many calories to maximize muscle growth. 1-2 pounds per month should be the recommendation not fucking 2-4 pounds. If anyone is reading this and they're at least 6 months into lifting, TRACK EVERYTHING and get surgically good at controlling your weight. If you do that you can maximize your muscle growth and still look good.

    I used to be a pizza, fastfood guy occasionally while i lifted. When you eat healthy consistently the basic healthier foods and water will taste better. Its exchanging heavily saturating food for healthy food, your body will adapt overtime and transition. If your family doesnt cook or have healthy food, then youre going to have to cook yourself. Its cheaper long term to cook healthy food rather than eating out constantly. Your energy will get better too as opposed to the fast food. Everything gets better even financially if you take care of yourself.

    Respectfully disagree, Hamza. I've been lifting consistently since April of last year. I'm going 5 days/week currently. My numbers aren't spectacular: squated 345, deadlifted 405 and benched 225. I was skinny-fat at the start, around 18% bf at 205 lbs, and made the mistake of bulking at first. Got to 240 lbs. Am at 208 as of this morning. The answer wasn't gaining more weight, it was getting strong while maintaining weight. Now, I've gone from April of this year to now losing the fat and getting back to my old weight while still getting stronger. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution to getting a better body. You said you started at 115 lbs? At your height? Bruv. Yeah, that kid need needs to bulk. I needed to stay the same weight. At 240, I needed to lose weight.
    Also, a single square of dark chocolate? That might work for you sometimes or even most of the time, but I don't believe you for a second when you say you've never had that second square. It's ridiculous to suggest other people follow this methodology for a treat. Like, you need to stop autistically telling people they need to follow this one regimen that totally works every single time because willpower, bro. My thing is if I REALLY need a sweet fix, I'll grab a pint of halo top ice cream and eat the whole thing. It's 300-ish calories. I don't allow myself to do it more than once a week and more often it ends up being twice a month.
    I also cook the vast majority of my own meals. THAT's what you should be preaching. Learn how to cook your own damn meals. Good meals. Learn how to eyeball macros and make sure the scale is headed in the right direction week-on-week. The not-so-obvious, yet objective, thing to tell people is that there is never a need to go above 15% for general fitness and strength goals. There's natties at about that bf % that can deadlift in the 700s.

    • @Dogflamingo
      @Dogflamingo 2 года назад +73

      Yeah, I agree. Fitness advise isn't always a one size fits all, sometimes you have to look at your own needs and evaluate what you need to do. For me even in a deficit I'm able to gain a fair bit of strength. Obviously not a huge deficit, but still good enough to lose fat and eat relatively normally. I can't really speak on cravings or snacks though, because I straight up have little to no desire for them. Maybe eat some if it fits into my daily calorie intake and my protein intake is fine, but otherwise no snacks for me.
      Learning to make your own meals is a hugely important skill though, and I think everybody should learn to do that

    • @timmh_7
      @timmh_7 2 года назад +49

      I agree to this too. I think the main difference here is Hamza was at 115 which is really skinny and therefore he feels a calorie surplus should be the way. For me personally, I started out overweight, near obese at 28 BMI so when I cut down the past couple months I didn't look skinny fat. Will probably start bulking soon though now that I'm at a healthy weight.

It highlighted that if you are eating healthy foods and whole foods without all the sugar you won't block the leptin signaling in your brain and you will feel full faster. In that video you had said that when eating the healthy foods it is hard to bulk. Earlier I would have thought "This guy is full of it. It is so easy to eat extra calories and bulk" because ,although I am lean, before I had to fight to stay lean. When I started cutting out the sugar and processed stuff it has made it hard to eat extra calories and then this pops up in my feed lol.

Being in a calorie deficit but including as much as protein as possible and doing resistance training and cardio. It depends on your weight and body fat percentage. If you're skinny fat but underweight or at a healthy weight, then you should bulk to gain muscle, but if you're overweight or close to overweight then you need to cut as you can reduce your body fat percentage and you can build muscle aswell

So even me I used the first 2 to 4 months to just workout and eat healthy not to you know "cut" because at the time I didn't have any muscle to cut down to. However around the 5th month once I did I started to cut I went from 255 to 211 and it's been amazing. Once I get to 205 I'm starting my bulking stage. when your parents cook unhealthy foods for you, be appreciate of it. Atleast they cooked for you. What made the difference for me was learning how to cook basic healthy meals like chicken breast. Adding it to my diet by asking my mom to buy some, then i’d just cook it and eat it as normal. I know some parents aren’t going to agree, or be able to afford it. But if you’re lucky enough to have parents who buy you food and cook for you, even if its unhealthy, then you should literally just ask for them to buy something you can cook on your own that you know is healthy, high in protein.
    A really good start is oats and protein powder. Add one DL of oats into a bowl, some water, not alot. Microwave it. Then when most of the water is gone you add your favourite proteinpowder. Very simple and has good protein (obvs) and carbs. You can then add things like berries, honey, etc. I personally like to throw in some cut up banana and blueberries topped with low calorie honey. It’s gonna make you full, trust me. We’re all gonna make it brahs.

    Fried rice is a pretty fire but flexible meal that can easily fit a bulk. Roast some vegetables on slightly above medium heat on the stove in sesame oil, add garlic and onion, and add salt and pepper if you would like. Coconut aminos are a good soy sauce substitute to not kill t levels. After the veggies are starting to turn brown put in your rice (if you are lazy there is dehydrated rice you can just by at the store you can heat in your microwave). Now put your choice of protein in, I like eggs but you can add whatever you want. After the rice starts to brown you are done! Enjoy your easy to cook, healthy, relatively high calorie meal

    Here is a bulking tip I am currently following:
    Don't eat in the morning at all.
    Eat a heavy lunch and only time you eat carbs is lunch.
    For dinner:6 eggs,milkshake with flaxseeds,peanuts and bananas and protein powder.
    You're probably still gonna be hungry due to lack of carbs as I am everyday so eat some fruits at night to curb that hunger.
    Hamza is right,bulking on healthy foods is a nightmare if you don't properly time your nutrition.

      Doesn't even matter whether the food is "healthy". Depending on how aggressive the bulk is (how big the surplus is), you will still gain fat.

      And I agree about carbs, people shouldn't just eliminate them.

    In very simple sense, most people are skinny fat, they don't have muscles on their body, exposure to high protein high calorie diet will only HELP them..
    These bulking cutting is thing for those who are athelete since birth, whose body is already pretty much worked out . For most of us, bulking with high protein diet will give incredible results..

    I decided to contact a bodybuilding coach to help me on my journey. I'm sitting at about 15% bf and I want someone to help me get really lean and then bulk up to my beginning point, at around 15% bf. Hope that makes sence

    You don't need to bulk to build muscle. You just need a lot of protein and good food.

      more muscle you have, easier to lose fat If you are skinny fat. (+200-300 Surplus)
      If you are fat then cut (-300-500 Deficit)
      If you are skinny then bulk (+200-300 Surplus)
