I have realised that having a big house is only good when the kids are home, once they grow up and move on you are left with an empty house to yourself. Also maintaining a bigger house is tough as you grow older.Just sharing my personal experience. I am now building a smaller house. That land of yours is so beautiful, wishing you all the best developing it.
Recommend a tractor to begin. At least a small one. You’ll need it for that much mowing and snow in winter a driveway upkeep. You may want tiller attachments for the garden. All the great things to come. So glad you got the property.
Congratulations! When we were building our house the builder told us if your marriage survives a custom build it will survive anything lol. We are 28 years strong.
No, you don't get used to the heat. Dry heat is easier to tolerate. It's 86 degrees in my kitchen with the AC going full blast with 5 fans. Texas!! Power grid has not been fixed. What about the Collectors House auction results? The 3 acres looks great from here. Congratulations. I guess the world is hot all over.
Oh no that's pretty bad. My huspand and i designed our house years ago. Forgot to put venting in for air and heat. Live in Florida. Got real creative real quick.
We had a neighbor who forgot to put the pipe from the bathroom up through the roof, until way after the house was totally built. (We call it a stink stack). It was very hard to put it in after the whole house was done.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so excited for you. It looks lovely. Most newer homes in the US are stick-built and only faced with brick or stone. Some older homes (1800s) are all brick, but they are very cold in winter. Congratulations again.
Congrats on the new land purchase. Can I suggest installing a heated drive. They are not as expensive as you might think and because you are going to build a new driveway it will be easy to install. I am looking forward to seeing the plans, as a retired building design and project manager I love seeing new builds. Congrats again, stay safe J.

My uncle was an architect, and when he built his house, he cleared some of the woods and had the lumber to build the house cut from the woods he cut down and it saved him a lot of money. just something to consider. cheaper way to get hard wood floors
THIS is the time to find a spot and get the Vege Garden going, before anything else, so you can get fresh veges sooner than way later .. that is the first thing i would do, if i ever bought property big enough
Hello, I am very happy for you guys. The land behind you is absolutely beautiful. I enjoy watching your videos so much, looking forward to the update on the store. Love you guys ❤👍
First of all, congrats on buying your land. You two put a smile on my face when you talked about planning your house. You remind me of Cary Grant and Myrna Loye in Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend it. I'm sure that you will relate and have a few laughs.😁
That long beautiful drive reminds me of the ones in old Louisiana movies with the trees on each side, with the big white two story house with huge white columns in front. That era of house design would look picture perfect there. But, I can understand you wanting to have the house closer to the road for more use of the back yard.
I am so very happy for you guys! The property is absolutely beautiful! The mature Trees all the way around the property, grass and 2.5 acres is the perfect size! Plus the opportunity to design your own home. I am just thrilled for your family. I was laughing at the 'only chickens' remark Melissa. You know chickens are like a gateway drug, once you have chickens, the rest of the farm animals will soon follow. :) I have 2 horses and 3 donkeys and unfortunately no grass. Lol. ( I live in the Arizona high desert). If I were the bank I would not have any worries about loaning you money. All they have to do is watch this channel and see that you are a go getter and will make it happen. I think you all will love living in a more rural area! ❤️
So many youtubers are going to the paid memberships. Living on a fixed income, that is just not possible. Purchasing one of the many devices available, then internet service is about to price out of my life. I understand it takes money to run a channel. I fear tho, that many of us are going to end up in the dark.
That's what RUclipsrs do they let this all go to their head and they don't want their viewers unless they pay they won't even answer a question normally unless you're paying him $5 or more it's all about the cash now when you're small you don't care when you're rich you want to get paid for everything you do even if it's breathing they forget what side of the tracks they came up on guess it's just the way life is I would never be like that
Depends on what you want to do. Yt charge for no ads, if you want to do that ? RUclips is no free anyway, your still paying for internet access. It depends how badly you want it.
I’m so so happy for you and your family, Alex. The kids are going to love living and continuing to grow in the country: nothing like having a big yard and trees to run through.
I can tell how peaceful it is out there. You'll really enjoy the privacy and quiet! We bought 64 acres about 25 years ago, and built our dream home, to raise our 4 young children on. I don't think I could go back to like with neighbors really close. You can't control who your neighbor is, but you can buy enough space where it wouldn't matter anyways! I have no doubt you'll find a way to get your house built. You're a very "can do" family! And no one deserves it more than you all!!!
Congratulations! The property looks amazing, I am sure you will make this work Alexander and Melissa. You both deserve all the good things that are just waiting for you. I wish you all the happiness that you so deserve.
Love you guys. We love in NH and whole house generators are the way to go. If you loose power, poof the generator kicks on. No loss of water, and heat, refrigerator, etc. Also we do not have a disposal, it helps keep the septic working great. Do not flush anything down the toilet but you know what, no flushable wipes, feminine products. I had to learn all this going from city, Nashua, to country. Sorry if TMI, but hard to learn the hard way.
I was watching you so long ago because I couldn’t go antiquing now when I see you guys I’m astounded by what those little videos turned into thank you for sharing
I think Alexander needs a cup of chamomile tea. Something soothing. DUDE, you're working hard! I loved this update, I absolutely LOVE the greenness of *The Property* . I'd almost name it *"The Shire"* . It's a magically beautiful place! Perhaps Alex should buy a *temporary mobile home* , to put on your property, so you can have a sink, and a toilet and a bed while you're there. Even a fridge and airconditioning. (instead of renting if you have to sell your house before having built the new one?) That mobile home can also be a guesthouse/BnB for having guests stay after you have built your home, if you want to. Or just re-sell.
My friends husband when he purchased 135 acres in the 1960's for around six thousand dollars would just go to the property and sit there in a chair in the peaceful location once or twice a week until they built their house.
No Fire Hydrant? Get an above-ground swimming pool, and keep it filled. Have an underwater pump with multiple hoses. Saved my friend's house in the back hills of a mountain state.
Congratulations. Love the look of your new property. Love the fact you that you have daisies they are so pretty . Looking forward to seeing that build. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Not good. :*( The climate is sick, no questions there. The Maine Coast is having the muggiest spring/summer I've ever experienced here! We've never had to pull an air conditioner out in June.
I always find it amazing that laundry rooms in Canada and USA don't have sinks. It's a staple here in Australia. Also not having draining boards on kitchen sinks.
great new beginning for your property and your family! cant wait for the house videos! also when building your house look for how the sun moves and shades so you know which end to put the bedrooms, living areas etc
Congratulations on the beautiful land. Unsolicited hint from when we built: Build for 10-25 years from now. In other words, don't just think about what you want now, but what your needs may be when you age. Also, put in electric everywhere -- crawl spaces, barn, under the eaves (for Christmas lights), etc. Enjoy the process!!
Oh! Melissa you gonna like a sink in the laundry room! 🙂👍 In the spring when you plant seed for bring up flowers and vegetables, when you have to wash up a single shirt or blouse, or a home-made rug need to been washed up. I live in an house built back in 1950 or something... I have a sink in the laundry room with a washing board "built in" the sink (its just one of the sink wall that are buckled as a washing board, very handy.)
OMG, I just thought of Chewie and how he will absolutely 💯 LOVE all the space he will have to run and sniff all the new smells!! And, who doesn't love, love, love Chewie??!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Designing and building your own house is a great experience! We are finishing our house now. We designed and built it ourselves. It’s taken a little longer the it would have if we used a contractor but we saved a lot of money. We had the advantage that my husband and father in law used to build houses for a living. Enjoy the experience and don’t let the details stress you out.
Congratulations!!! We just added on to our house and it was quite a learning experience! My mom and dad's woods was just called "the land". We would go down to the land.
Biggest thing, living in the country, power outages in winter! If the home is electric, always have a secondary heat source because pipes will burst, a secondary cooking device, and if you can afford the luxury, a generator. My dad lives in the country and has none of those things. Also, extra big lights for night! It gets crazy dark in the country. Our rural electric provides a big light but it won't be enough. Good fences make for safe pets, too
I can not wait to follow you along on the building process. 🤗 My husband & I manufacture septic tanks and are a distributor for all materials needed to install commercial and residential systems. He has also installed and repaired systems for 40+ years. I hope you share the installation of your system when the time comes. We would be interested and seeing how they are done in Canada.
I live in Australia and actually it isn't in the high 30s (celsius) all year round. Summertime is when we can get the 30 deg plus temps. Here in NSW, we are in winter and it has been as cold as 6 deg celsius and we're not even in the coldest part of winter yet!
As an aussie in Denmark, 6C is what we have in spring.😛 I always laugh when my parents think 16-18C is "cold" (Brisbane). Its the middle of summer & 14C today but we did get 2days of 28-30C. Thats rare!😅
It depends where you live in Australia - it has many environments: some hot most of the year and some shivery particularly in winter. I live on the Northern Tablelands of NSW in the Eastern part of Australia and I'm still not used to the summer or winter temperatures here (preferring the temperatures of the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia)! Over 32C and under about 16C is not my favourite degree!🌞❄️But I am very glad to be living in a peaceful country with good resources and law where things are generally still on a good par 🙂
Congrats y'all! That's normal temps all summer long here in Mississippi. Actually has been on the cool side (80's) for us. Can't wait to see your plans and the building of your new home.
What a beautiful piece of land, that tree line is out of a Jane Austen novel!! Congratulations, you guys deserve everything you have!
Congratulations Archbold Family!! I hope all of your dreams always come true. You are great people! I am so happy I found this channel.

When I scan real estate, I only look at single story houses 😊
@@Oglulubell makes sense to me,I rarely go upstairs unless I really have to 😀

Great for the grandkids though.
Congratulations, on the beautiful land. What a blessing! 🙋♀️🌹hi from California.
Alexander, you need to get a Drone . And fly it over the property to get a Birdseye view of this land
The kids would have so much fun too !
Nah. He has a hard enough time recording what he does and running a business. Drone cameras are great but a real burden. Trust me.
Just a tip from Sweden, if you have problems with mosqitous, put up 20 fågelholkar, small birds boxes on the trees. Smalll brirds eat mosqitous.
And several bat boxes. Bats eat a massive amount of mosquitoes per night.
Yes, some Purple Martin nest boxes up on poles would look really good on the property.
fågelholk=bird house
And plant lavender and rosemary.
Always do the natural solution when possible!
WOW!!!!! That property is beautiful!!!

Oh..! Alexander like tractors.😄
I bet he will get an old tractor from 1930 or something. 🥴👍
So pleased for the super good news, your own land
I agree with the needing a small tractor with the property. :)
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF LAND, IT LOOKS JUST LIKE A PARK.🌞
Knowing you have a well, that's wonderful. Now you can easily have a nice size pool. Congratulations!
Congratulations! When we were building our house the builder told us if your marriage survives a custom build it will survive anything lol. We are 28 years strong.
Congratulations 👍 Mr & Mrs. Archibald 😊 can't wait to see your house go up 🤔 regards Steve 🏴
Congrats Melissa and Alexander, great property. So keen to see the house get built. Maybe a granny flat for his mum too.

We don't get 35' of snow in Nova Scotia! Haha. Except for Cape Breton, our winters are mild.
Now that you finally find yourselves in this situation, you may find it amusing if not educational to find a copy of the film, "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" (RKO, 1948). Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas are in the cast. It may be available for a small fee on RUclips. I found it amusing (it is a comedy, after all). It's about this advertising executive who decides he is getting out of the city and moving his family to the country and building a new house. You should especially see the scene with the architect about to tear his hair out. There are foibles along the way but all ends well (not that it was ever in doubt). So, no spoiler alert necessary.
Awesome news guys! The land is beautiful so a great start ❤️🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
Have an interior designer look at your plans before you build. It's worth the money and can save you lots of heartache later.

Botanically, there’s no such thing as a weed. A weed is simply a plant you don’t want.

Why are they call weeds? Did someone make that up like the word Bird? ( Their Dinosaur descendants)
Why would they legalize weed if no one wants it? And why is it so expensive? 😁

Congratulations. Love the look of your new property. Love the fact you that you have daisies they are so pretty . Looking forward to seeing that build. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Here in Spokane WA, it's going to be 112 degrees (45 cekcious?)Tuesday and Mt Ranieers peak is melting .
Not good. :*( The climate is sick, no questions there. The Maine Coast is having the muggiest spring/summer I've ever experienced here! We've never had to pull an air conditioner out in June.
How far you have come! You make us feel so welcomed into your life.
Congratulations on the property!!! You are both such great people, you deserve the best 👍🏻❤️
I always find it amazing that laundry rooms in Canada and USA don't have sinks. It's a staple here in Australia. Also not having draining boards on kitchen sinks.
Hard work pays off, congrats for sure. What a great setting. Looks like Wisconsin. Watching from Milwaukee.
great new beginning for your property and your family! cant wait for the house videos! also when building your house look for how the sun moves and shades so you know which end to put the bedrooms, living areas etc
It looks absolutly beautiful! Good for you guys.
Beautiful land to build your dream home. Blessings to your sweet family, everything will fall into place. Love all your videos. Faye (Ohio)🇺🇸
Oh! Melissa you gonna like a sink in the laundry room! 🙂👍
In the spring when you plant seed for bring up flowers and vegetables, when you have to wash up a single shirt or blouse, or a home-made rug need to been washed up.
I like this better Alex and Melissa than the house I'm super happy for you and your family country living is the best living ❤
I feel for you with the heat. I live in Mpls and we've had 90s almost every day this month. I've never wanted winter more
I grew up on 3 acre property and it was perfect. We had a huge house, barn, pond and amazing garden. You and the kids will love it!
You must watch "Mister Blandings Builds His Dream House" Cary Grant. 1948.
Wishing you and your family much happiness as you build your dream home. This is a beautiful piece of property.
When you had the kids in the Rolls I figured you were at the new property.
Super happy for you and your family. Congratulations 🍾
with the soon to be 4 drivers in the family and Alex's car collecting, they are going to need a 10 car garage:-)
Congratulations with your beautiful land. It will make a perfect setting for your home. Enjoy your life and good luck. Margaret n Iceland
Good fences make for safe pets, too
Yup, I'd put in a wood stove that not only cooks it heats water and heats for power outages.
I can not wait to follow you along on the building process. 🤗
My husband & I manufacture septic tanks and are a distributor for all materials needed to install commercial and residential systems.
As an aussie in Denmark, 6C is what we have in spring.😛
I always laugh when my parents think 16-18C is "cold" (Brisbane).
@@margaretpugh7579 hi Margaret, I'm in Syndey and I'm the same as far as preferred temps go 😊
I really like the look of your property, you have quite the wind barrier. Super excited for the whole family.
Congrats y'all! That's normal temps all summer long here in Mississippi. Actually has been on the cool side (80's) for us. Can't wait to see your plans and the building of your new home.
