I can perfectly understand that every time you listen to BabyMetal, the anime comes to mind. The same thing happens to me with Metallica, I can't help but think of the cowboys on their horses.

BABYMETAL is only the 3 girls so they definitely don't have 7-8 members. However they do have a touring band who plays the instruments for them and that band is called Kami Band. Also it's funny when people think that anime has some kind of a "sound" there is like tens of thousands different animes out there and they all have their own type of music in them so there really isn't just one anime sound. Would be like me going "this sounds like Hollywood music" when I hear some american music:D

This is in the style of Electric Callboy, but it was a 50/50 collaboration between both bands. Its a fun song start to finish.
BABYMETAL have nothing to do with anime, the only possible connection is that they are Japanese.
Don't base what you think of BABYMETAL's music on their albums either, if that is all you've heard you are missing out in 60% of what they are all about. They are a live performance act, they even described their first album as a "calling card". Listening to their albums is like listening to the sound track of a movie you have never seen and don't know what the movie is about.
Jake Muller already told you more about them and provided a great list of suggestions for songs and performances.
When you see them live you will also get to see and hear their live band. They are the Kami Band. From 2012 (2 years after BABYMETAL formed) they were phased in playing the encores in some shows and they became their full time support for all live shows from March 2014.
The Kami Band are session musicians - and they are the very best to be found in Japan, every one of them a world class musician.
They would swap in and out depending on their availability, but you will see the same hard core of about 6 musicians (2 guitarists, bassist and drummer for each show) in the vast majority of concerts.
In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians Chriss Kelly, CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin and Anthony Barone) was introduced to support BABYMETAL on their increasingly lengthy foreign tours.
The Kami Band East last played at the concerts in january 2023. The Kami Band West have been the full time support since then (nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries last year and they have been busy again this year - most recently with the Fox_Fest events last weekend arranged and hosted by BABYMETAL with invited bands playing two events - including Electric Callboy).

@@TheHeartofGeek That will be good - just so you know of the songs Jake listed from the latest album 'Metal Kingdom' is more of an intro anthem and 'The Legend' is a sort of closing song about them. Any of the others would work better to give you more idea of what they are about for most of a concert if you are only going to listen to one or two.

    Welcome to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥
It's always nice to see more reactors getting into this amazing group or coming back for more like you, they're a global phenomenon from Japan and I think you got some facts wrong, so lemme help you with a basic info about them:
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year.
-YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
The band you saw backing them up is called the Kami Band and they always are 4 musicians, two guitarists, a bassist and a drummer.
There's no other group like them around and teaming up with this group from Germany just elevated them even higher.
If you like Jpop and edm elements then you gonna find a lot of cool songs blended with heavy metal in their latest album "The Other One" released last year. Songs like Divine Attack - Shingeki, METALIZM, Time Wave and Light and Darkness among other great songs as well tracks and live performance from early era will make you bounce and rock with this insane group.
Last weekend they did the live premiere of this song in Japan at FOX_FEST (a festival held by BM) and everyone went wild with this collab.
The girl in the middle is the lead singer SuMetal and she actually dance less than the other girls (MoaMetal and MomoMetal) because she sings most of the time but regardless she can dance and sing and you won't even notice she's out of breath.
    About this song:
This was filmed in Germany and the concept of the MV is they're breaking boundaries with the genres and they don't care about corporation decisions, the office with the suits workers and the Japanese boss kinda represent that.
The "hips don't lie" is definitely a Shakira reference.
The "Fu Fu" (or more like "wu-uh wu-uh") part sounds like Backstreet Boys - Everybody female backing chorus and also I think I heard in a K-pop song, not sure which one.
The "push it to the limit" line it could be an homage to Scarface's movie, another post disco, dance rock song with some guitar elements.
The moment when they're breaking the wall is another homage to Aerosmith x Run DMC - Walk This Way MV, symbolism of breaking the boundaries with the music genres like I already said.
Also one of the singers is holding up the cable with electricity during the breakdown is a reference to "The Cable Guy" movie.
Btw I thought the second "Are you ready?" chorus was MomoMetal doing the backing growling but they didn't show that in the MV, although fans spotted in the live version, so it was her after all.
Love the euro dance and trance elements mixed with metal, they also did it with Time Wave, one of my favorite BM song from latest album The Other One.
There's probably more references but I'm so far away from pop culture that i probably missing a lot more.
Fun fact: EC said in a reactor comment they did the breaking the walls scene in one shot, there will be a bts so we're waiting for more.
This was filmed in Germany and the crew had to put all those disco ball on the celling manually just for this song.
    Next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more proshot clips safe to react if YT allows me to do it.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🐭

And I am sure that Anthony Barone would be concidered to be two drummers, but in fact they have two guitars, one bass and one drum. They only gad so many people since they had two independent Babds. The old Kami Band for Japan and South East Asia and the Kami Band West for yeurope and the USA. But since they are the new Babymetal they are only joined by the Kami Band West. This went so far, that one of their American Guitarists now lives in Tokyo.

I liked the honesty of your reaction. Its good to hear other people and not get caught up in an echo chamber as I want to do. So thank you. My big complaint about your reaction is you didn't listen to the song. You talked over at least half of it. My guess is that you reacted to the visuals because there is no way you could have heard the song while you were talking. As a musician I know that listening is something that you can't do multitasking. Seriously not being rude but if you have something to say you should stop the music and say it then restart the video because you can't react to a song that you haven't listened to and you can't listen to a song and talk over it at the same time. That's meant to be constructive, I hope it helps you to be better listeners and so better reactors. It's ultimately your channel so you get to decide how you accept this. Good luck with your channel..

No, they have nothing to do with anime with the exception that Kobametal found Suzuka, when the three head girl group for the anime Karen Girls was dosolved. And the inhetitance is the other way. Most of the female voice actors of Anime were idols or wanted to become idols. And what they sang in their concerts, were idol songs. That was exactly the lesson that Koba teached to Babymetal, your music already contains metal, so there is no reason to be afraid of metal.Nearly all Anime theme songs are sung by idols. Koba knew what he was talking about he had written many of the Songs that they had performed in Sakura Gakuin and he was able to show to them, which basic rythm he followed. It is crazy but electric guitars are often used in Enki Spngs and they are often recognized as old and traditionell. Modern instruments were very fast absorbed into japanese music traditions. And added new elements to them. And Koba simply followed with Babymetal one concept. The japanese metal msrketvwas at his time extremly stale and consusted of purely male groups and audiences and he wanted to remodel it. And he was surrounded by young girls. Thex were his wanted performers and also his exploration group for his targeted aufience. Bring girls into metal concerts and new boys will follow them. And Electric Callboy lost "Sushi" and they later found by accident Nico. In a way Babymetal had for several years the same problem. They lost in 2017 and 2018 Yui Mizuno their third member due to health reasons. And Su's and Moa's contract ended in 2020 with some extensions for Corona and their 10 year Concerts. So they looked around in Tokyo searching for what to do with their lives. And Koba was quite shocked when they returned to him under some conditions. One of them was they wanted to be a three member group again. And this point brought Koba in problems since he had an agreement with Momoko.. it was generally known that Momoko wanted to be a Babymetal for life, but she always missed it . And he had offered her if we don't have a Babymetal I will get you into K-Pop. We don"t know when the offer reached Momoko, but she had the offer if i fail at K-Pop I will be a Babymetal. She finally became the third Babymetal in April of 2024. And she was as excited as Su and Moa. For years they had feared that zhr fabs wouldn"t accept anyone else on Yuid place. But she was accepted immefiatly. She had earned Yuis place. And we are waiting for the first album where Momo is allowed to sing. And im this Song she even took turns with Kevin who would growl. And in fact zhey are especially not Kawai by itself. For Years they tried to appear older. But in fact for all idol groups this song would be suicied. Idols have to be pure. But Babymetal is no idol group, since Amuse tried to demote Su and revoked her idol status. But Kobas answer was: Sure, we don't need the idol Suzuka Nakamoto but Babymetal needs the Queen of Rock Sumetal. And this caused the crucification of the idol. And zhe disco Ball was needed. The Space had to look tight but Su and Nico could not stand next to each other. Su is quite small and she would no longer look adult but younger. A totally unwanted look in this Scene. And especially the Breakdown contains extreme many elements of the girls. As I already said even the growls were shared. This was the reason why both Production crews talk about a 50 / 50 collab. Electric Callboy delivered the basic structure and the box thene. Babymetal the girl theme and the Breakdown is nothing more than the merge of both Bands.
