@@tcavofficialhow many scuba or rebreather dives did you do to become a seal? You don't know buoyancy?
Even basic hikers on Appalachian trail know you don't wear your waist and sternum strap on your bag crossing a stream. You had no flotation? I taught scuba and I would tell customers to never ever wear a weight belt on deck if they don't have a scuba unit and fins on their body. Not even five pounds in a weight belt without all your gear on. Belt goes on last. This is some serious amateur nonsense. The boyscouts I trained knew better.
And you know, if you forget flotation around boats, just loosen all your pack straps and unclip your waistbelt in case you gotta dump it.

myself too long not to take life too seriously because of the old cliche “no one gets out alive.” shit hasnt been going my way for sometime though. Think i needed this reminder. Im 30 years young and capable yet destructive. Ive for too long have not given a shit pursuing stimulus be it positive or negative. Its gotten me in more trouble than I can cope with sometimes. Taylor, have you read / seen about those two SEAL’s in Yemen couple days ago , where one fell in during night time boarding and other one went to help him and they are missing? I feel terrible for these two guys , but I immediately thought of you and your very similar story and how dangerous boarding at night is… wow.. I’m glad you’re ok, and I pray for those guys and their families.

Quote TCAV "It's all good till it's not". So True!!! Love it! I can imagine the horror of being in that water fully loaded. Strong as hell swimmer but you know you can't beat mother ocean much longer. Then seeing that hand come down "as if from God". Hey partner, maybe it was. The fact that he successfully made that jump, saw you and had sure enough footing himself in all that chaos are a lot of coincidences to line up. Take away for me in this story is "Ego will kill you"! Love your stories and you inspire me! BTW, I'm on my 4th day of getting up at 0430 and running. Feeling great. Thanks TCAV!

Despite near-death experience this sounded like an awesome mission to be on as a young guy. I couldn't even imagine. All of my years spent in the bottle just waking up to be in another bottle, the complications that it caused my body and even mentally not being focused on wanting to be alive. Then I hit my bottom and then I'm worried about all the things that I did before to this meat suit because there's a reason to be here.

So liked your sea story!! Been there but in a different capacity. I served in the US Coast Guard back in the 80’s and was stationed on a small 95’ cutter. We had a zodiac on the cutter we would do LE boarding’s and small missions from and Every time we launched that thing it seemed like the swell would pick up! So getting from ship to boat was always dangerous especially with you LE gear and vest on! I can’t tell you how many times I thought I was going to be crushed or hurt and thrown in the ocean! The worst though was the ship to ship transfers when we would join up with Navy or other CG vessels. Man I hated trying to jump onto a larger ship then climb up! Very scary! A year later I end up breaking my back, skull and cheek during a rescue but that is another story! Life can be scary doe sure and I agree it’s totally on YOU! ANYWAY, thanks for your videos man. Really great stuff and it’s great that you able to do what you love and help others in the process! I wish all the success man, you’ve earned it and some!!!

Shit can happen quick. This will sound ridiculous. A buddy and I were going hunting, driving in his Toyota truck. It had lightly snowed. We turned off the highway on to a secondary road that had not been plowed. Next thing I knew we were spinning 90 degrees left. We left the road, went down into and out of a ditch, and then through a 4-strand barbed wire fence and under a large wooden sign that was between two phone poles about 8 ft apart. We continued into a field, turned 180 degrees and faced the sign. It seemed like we accelerated throughout the entire accident. Nobody was hurt, so we drove out the way we got there and went on our hunt. Later as we inspected the damage, it was apparent this wasn’t going to be cheap hunt. Oh well, what the hell. Pass the Pendleton.

Crazy when something that may be thought of easy or simple , but really taken for granted can almost be the end of ya. I’ve had handful of times where instantly ya think to yourself “ oh crap , I’m dead” ( crap usually replaced with something stronger) and ya hold on tight and luckily survive . But in that instant where they say ya see your life flash before your eyes: to me it was more like ; bit down , hunkered down all while watching but in flash just thinking no matter what I’m dead I guess and nothing I can do… to held on then amazingly ok. Not even in moment afterwards thanking god immediately but trying to regain balance , realign , and back into whatever normalcy I was to be doing. And then when back out of shock thanked god and still couldn’t believe it…
People take everyday things for granted and don’t realize simplest things can be detrimental or deadly with no 2nd chances . Heck, look at breathing; ya do it all the time , then if/when ya can’t - bye bye. Life’s short man and lot of negativity and people need to put their phones down way, way more. Pay attention to surroundings and life. They can dick around on a phone later when nobody’s up or around or for quick useful assists. But “surfing” the web or wasting time while things around ya struggle is dumb . Especially if it’s family , work or friends . Talk to em and help em and they should do same. Or talk to em. Stay blessed 💯

I've been in the ocean my whole life. You explained the feeling so well. I've surfed insane outer reefs in Samoa, Hawaii, Oregon etc. When I was 13 I got caught in a lil fck Vortex at that middle jetty in OB(Avalanche). I kept diving under, I'd get pushed towards the bottom, then sucked back out. Rinse, pounded, repeat. I passed out twice. First my legs stopped working (no Oxygen down that far). I'd wake up on surface, puke, than down again.. Woke up on my knees in the sand. Waves weren't even big. Nature humbled my ass. His story sounds legit, u can't make this shit up.

One is never too old to benefit from a role model. If you are fifty years old and you stumble across TCAV or Jocko or Mike Ritland or John Lovell or whoever....someone doing the right thing and living a good example of what a man should be then you can learn from them and not feel alone...and let them motivate you to persevere through whatever you're going through....and tomorrow or next week or next month YOU can be that role model and you can save someone who may or may not know they need saving.
Let this lifestyle change your life...because the things that are happening in the world today are going to require a better you.

I was down in Cabo fishing when the G20 was going on… no one could come back to port or leave port for a couple days and shit was tight security all through the city

What kind of rifle and pistol did you usually carry on seal missons? And what is your preferred primary and secondary if you don't mind me asking.

I've been the clown, and it's not a cool place to be. I've also been solid and locked in before, so quite the mixup for sure. I do identify with everything you said. The power is always within us to level ourselves up, but I failed many times to recognize this. The good news is that I'm finally tracking right, I got accountability in place, and I'm on a good path. These videos are so valuable to people like myself. I really appreciate your message, Taylor.
