100% agree - I reckon they're on par (if not better) than the Toy Story movies. these movies are so underrated and they should be talked about waaaay more
So great you guys loved this, bit of a shame that the audiences in the USA have been so low, middling box office, missing out on such a fantastic film, and totally not just for kids. I think Jumanji and to a lesser extent The Greatest Showman, 2 family films showing great legs kinda buried Paddington, ah well, hope we still get a 3rd one!
I'm sorry, but Christy's reason for a lower number is nonsense. It deserves a 9 or 10. Any other film, I would say 8 is a good number. But for Paddington 2???
Lee Hutchings Exactly, you should judge films based on their own, merits, not because the original film was better than it had any right to be. Besides, the sequel is better imo.
I just took my daughter to see Paddington 2 and I can’t recall the last time I had so much fun at a movie. This is a Spinal Tap 11 cause 10 doesn’t do it justice. Forget Star Wars, I want an annual Paddington Bear movie. And Bravo Hugh Grant
I saw this movie last year, and I've been waiting for this review... Isn't it great? A warm hug of a movie, if you will. P.s you may have to change your score after the see the end credits scene Alonso
This film is about all you could hope for from an animated comedy sequel. The prison scenes recall peak Wes Anderson, as does a lot of the film's aesthetic, but it manages to be its own film, funny, emotional, endlessly creative and brilliantly structured. Hugh Grant is a delight, revelling in a role which allows him to be hilariously self-deprecating, but all of the cast are brilliant. A pop-up book sequence with Aunt Lucy is the highlight among many, a 9-9.5/10 for me.
By far the best scene is the sequence showing how everyone's life is made just a little bit worse by removing a single decent person (or bear) reminded me of Its a wonderful life.
I tried to watch it but the show I went to was dubbed to my native language, so I walked out after thirty minutes. It seems great though. I'll watch it when I can get it at home.
I'm amazed that they liked a kid's movie so much. Ignoring that genre, they were pretty hard on Silence, which is one of the greatest movies of recent years.
This is so cool to see. I am watching the first one with the kids tonight and i'll bring them to see this next weekend. It's so neat to see these three so giddy over a warm and fuzzy kids movie. Makes my Friday it does!
One of my 6 year old twin girls cried for most of Paddington's time in jail. It was so cute and sad. I snuggled with her in the theater. Her twin sister was OK with it though.
I am going to see this movie, hopefully I will not be the only adult w/o children in the audience. SPOILER: Whoa the panel really trolled one of its members in the ratings section (however I still felt the respect and affection hovering over them).
That trailer for the first one really was terrible, I had no interest in it and don't remember hearing about it when it came out so my view wasn't changed until the reviews for this second one started coming out. Now I might give it another chance.
Well, it has a *perfect, 100%* on RT (with an average rating of 8.7/10!) and a 90(!!) on Metacritic, so most critics seem to think it is. Seriously, though. A 90 on MC...that's higher than 95% of every single film released in 2017. My word. :O
ZombieZifiction I was absolutely convinced that my very basic comment (more a question) would provoke incredibly aggressive, nasty, mean-spirited comments. Thanks for proving me right. To everybody else, thank you all for your answers, I'll check it out.
You guys thought Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie was really good so I can't trust you guys anymore. I hope you're enjoying the benefits you get from Disney bribes.
Umm, that film has a 91% on RT (with an average rating of 8.2/10) and an 86 on Metacritic. So...I think most film scholars (who know a heck of a lot more about filmmaking than you ever will, that's for sure) would strongly disagree with you on that one, buddy. Seriously, dude?! If you hated the film, fine. That doesn't mean critics that loved it were bought and paid for. Jeez Louise! Ugh.
Toughnut What are you talking about?! Almost everyone has seen The Last Jedi, my friend. It's made over $1.3B (not saying that has anything to do with its quality, but based off of those numbers, countless people have seen it). It's one of the best films of 2017 and no, I don't agree with you. And basically all professional film scholars don't either as evidenced by their respective reviews on RT and MC like I mentioned earlier. Sorry.
This film truly is beautiful. Small story with a good heart.
100% agree - I reckon they're on par (if not better) than the Toy Story movies. these movies are so underrated and they should be talked about waaaay more
Matt's reaction to Alonso for not seeing the musical number during the credits is priceless!
10:42 Alonso gives Christie a "hard stare" and rightfully so :D
The first Paddington was so good! Such a little jewel of a movie! Paul King is killing it!
The second one was on another level - it's a flawless film.
They missed the end credit scene! That was the best scene in the movie!
Can't believe Christy & Alonso missed the musical part! It's SO GOOD!
ONE OF MY TOP 5 MOVIES OF 2017. EVERYONE WATCH THIS MOVIE NOW.
Funny that Christy thought this lost a little of the novelty of the first one when she gave that one a lower score .

Hala Montalvo Don't ask for Paddington to be annual. These films are treasures, and need as much time as possible to make them perfect.
I saw this movie last year, and I've been waiting for this review...

Max Messmer A musical number
Max Messmer you may have to watch it again then 😝

Roy W-G are you Mark Kermode? He said the exact same thing in his Wittertainment review.
I tried to watch it but the show I went to was dubbed to my native language, so I walked out after thirty minutes. It seems great though. I'll watch it when I can get it at home.
The prison sequences might be the grand Budapest film references I think
Honestly that music credit scene is what pushed this movie from 9 to a 10 for me.
Loved loved loved this movie. He's sooo sweet. I love that bear and what he stands for.
I'm amazed that they liked a kid's movie so much. Ignoring that genre, they were pretty hard on Silence, which is one of the greatest movies of recent years.

Nobody mentioned it, but the CGI work is amazing. Wouldn't surprise me if it is at least nominated for a technical oscar.
Should I watch this with 'Starred Up,' ?
these movies are so underrated.. and so good
One of my 6 year old twin girls cried for most of Paddington's time in jail. It was so cute and sad. I snuggled with her in the theater. Her twin sister was OK with it though.
it's not even funny how much of a goddamn radiating beauty christy is... what a smile
The very very end is a gem!
So i finally got to see this movie, and it is FANTASTIC. I can only say i agree 100% with Alonsos score 10/10
The first paddington movie was a joy to watch and I'm glad this one is even better. The first perfect 100% fresh movie in RT.
I am SO happy that Paddington 2 is awesome. I LOVED the first one, and since i usually agree with Alonso i bet this will be a 10 for me to
Alonzo's side eye was great!
I am going to see this movie, hopefully I will not be the only adult w/o children in the audience.
SPOILER:
Whoa the panel really trolled one of its members in the ratings section (however I still felt the respect and affection hovering over them).
Alonso only likes it cause it's a Bear movie!
I see what you did there :)
Paddington is life
Yay! I need to see the first one still and then follow it up immediately with this one.
Whoa, I have to see it now.
I am so excited for this movie!
*And* Skidoo? Holy cats.
That trailer for the first one really was terrible, I had no interest in it and don't remember hearing about it when it came out so my view wasn't changed until the reviews for this second one started coming out. Now I might give it another chance.
Christy is dead inside. She's so funny.
Ye are just good people, great job
It’s pretty much perfect.
A 10? Are you kidding me? Is the movie THAT good?
It really is.
9.5
the first one was, and if this is any indication the second will also be

Is it really about being kind to immigrants? I really did not catch that.
tgese libs look for any reason to bash Trump. uggh.
Uh, because Trump is famously pro-immigration?
Borders are great thing.
There is a huge difference between Paddington, which is harmless dude, and people from totalitarian colture.
Yes!!
V my bff hefty v bhai msn b synch v
NO!
Aaron Hahn I agree
You guys thought Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie was really good so I can't trust you guys anymore. I hope you're enjoying the benefits you get from Disney bribes.
michaelthemovieman the point is I can't trust them if they take bribes or threats.
Umm, that film has a 91% on RT (with an average rating of 8.2/10) and an 86 on Metacritic. So...I think most film scholars (who know a heck of a lot more about filmmaking than you ever will, that's for sure) would strongly disagree with you on that one, buddy.

Darin Michael Grant you haven't see the last Jedi yet have you? I promise you will agree with me once you do.

Darin Michael Grant you didn't see the movie.
ok, so you like this shit, but not Bright. i see.
+Xanstrom
The world is full of people who like different things than you. There is no point in being upset about that.
Xanstrom Yes. And Bright is the shit movie.
Everybody and their grandmother hated Bright.
Not seen Bright but Paddington 2 is one of the year's best films
Well, to be fair, Bright sucked.
