30-05-2022 Update to my front indicator upgrade. The right front LED indicator failed. The sound inside the car for the indicators was not the normal tick-tick, tick-tick. It was tick-tick-tick-tick and almost played a tune. I removed the LED bulb, fitting one of the old and dim looking glass bulbs I kept for just sucj occasions. Seeing them both flash together when I locked the car, reflecting off the shed, just showed how naff the originals are. Ordered a new set of the same today to replace. Again, cheers Dan for putting up and leaving these helpful videos on here.
@@jonnyl8175 They are a lot brighter than standard lights. This does help people who can't see them for example when you want to turn right. The light from either the running lights or the headlights makes the indicator less visible, and therefore potential for accidents. I got both front and back indicators changed on mine. Dan does a good job explaining how to do these in his videos. He also lists which bulbs to get and where from. Hope that helps. I had similar on my Fiesta during its MOT and aside from the reversing lights being a bit bright there was nothing said about the other LEDs. The Qashqai also had no issues with its MOT.
I just fitted on my Qashqai Tenka only the rear LED rear Next day delivery. Sprayed WD40 on the white slider and the grommets. Didn’t unplug the electric wiring. Fronts waiting for delivery. Really happy with the results. Thanks.
Ordered my indicator replacements today. I'll update after fitting if I still have any knuckles left. Also, I have a question about the tiny lights in the sun visors. Can they also be changed to LED's? As they are so tiny, but appear to be the same type of bulb fitting as other interior lights, is it possible that someone has produced an LED replacement? Seems like a big ask, for such a tiny bulb, but it is one that would make a difference when I am checking how handsome I am... not really. But I think the ladies would like a brighter light.
I'm pretty sure they are T5 bulbs, but the issue is clearance from what I've read, you'll need to do a bit of DIY to make them fit. I'm recording 2 new videos today, so I'll take a look while I'm out there!
@@TheQashqaiGuy Of course, being so small, with those LED pad sizes... I don't expect any of the manufacturers have even considered something that small. Yesterday I was grateful for your video about changing the key battery. I noticed the key was not being read by the sensors 100%, and other pointers to say the battery needed changing. Luckily I was out when I realised this and managed to get some CR2032's.
I always get people screwing their faces up at me when I’m turning in and they are waiting to pull out of a junction as if I’m not signalling? Have you ever had this? Are they positioned incorrectly for other drivers to see? The bulbs are working too.
hey, why my nissan qashqai 1.2, it takes too long to heat up. is it because the engine size? I live in finland that's why heating is so important this winter. ty
Hi Dan, just replaced my front indicator with generic LED bulbs and they work fine in hazards but when indicating, they are causing the flashes to be a lot quicker. I imagine thats a canbus issue. Are the ones you updated here still working fine without any issues and is the Amazon still linking to the right ones?
@@TheQashqaiGuy Awesome thank for the speedy response. One more question, is there a way to clean up the DPF filter without taking it to a Nissan dealer?
The front lights look to be a real pain to do. Do you think removal of some parts in the way would help, or would they be too much of a faff to remove? At least the rears are more straight forward. I did a similar thing with my Fiesta and I was concerned people might think they were too bright. I also changed the reversing lights for LED and the number plate lights, they lit up at the back so well I could see very easily (as we have no street lights out here in the countryside) what was behind me in the dark. They do look better though. PS: Car nice and clean :-)
@@TheQashqaiGuy Just been looking at that side on mine, and I'm sure this is what Amit Jain has said. Would removing the air intake pipe/tube from the front of the intake to the air filter side of it help, and how do you get those two things out holding it in on the top front of the bodywork over the grille (to the right of the slam panel)? More puzzles.
Front indicator lights in your description 3157 Well I bought them. They don’t fit. Having trouble returning them. But Amazon said they will take over. You said in my last comment they should be 7440 wy21w.
@@TheQashqaiGuy The 7440 type is showing on the Amazon page with the male LED fitting. The other two options on that page show bayonet fittings. It's confusing!
7440 deffo correct for the front. I know it's confusing, not the best made page but I assume they do it to cut costs with Amazon by having multiple items on one page

Which lamps did you get. Looking at getting led for mine. Any issues with them not being road legal, garage say anything on service or mot? Cheers.

Great videos, nice and informative 👍, can't believe you put the light back in without a quick wipe down underneath....
Sorry mum 😂
I alwais put some lube on the fittings..also the piece that goes in the lampunit..
Makes it easy to twist now and in the future.

Fitted mine today back and front really pleased with them, easier than i thought.
The front was easy for me as i ha e skinny arms 🤣
Great video, love how they look. You did not get an indicator error code in the dash? Since led's take less watts but more lumens ? Thanks !!
Hey, the bulbs used are canbus compliant so have no errors.

The design is awful, they knew it was and that's why the drl lights dim when you indicate on later models.

Try turning the heated screens on to raise idle RPM

Are the rear lights the P21W? Because the link takes me to the PY21W. Thanks.
The Y is just the yellow colour I believe.
Ok thanks. Keep up the good work
I thought when u indicate the daytime light turns off and then on again when u finish indicating
Hi, is there a way to change the DRL bulbs?
I am out here in SA
Not really without removing and disassembling the light units then soldering the LEDs
@@TheQashqaiGuy Awesome thank for the speedy response. One more question, is there a way to clean up the DPF filter without taking it to a Nissan dealer?
You could remove it and clean yourself. There are guides online I believe.
I did the same to my indicators and what a difference
Are the bulbs you’ve fitted totally street legal so will pass the MOT?
Not street legal, but will pass MOT so do as you wish...
@Antony because an MOT tester cannot inspect the bulb.
It would probably be advisable yeah
The light pattern would likely be incorrect. Blinding other road users. I wouldn't
And rear lights. Fog lights to led is ok in my opinion as they're barely used
Awesome. I want to do them for sure. Just the dynamic wing mirror indicators for you next 😜😂
I'm still not sure...maybe one day 😅

The front drivers side was real easy once I removed the engine cover. Passenger side would probably be easier with the battery removed.
