Ina ho is one of my favorite inks, I only have a sample, and I keep putting off buying the whole bottle, until it got discontinued and I couldn't get it anywhere. It was the saddest moment in my fountain pen journey. I am glad that you have a full bottle. Ina ho means rice grain---it represents the golden brownish rice field ready for harvest.

Wait, really? Did Ina-ho just sell out? I heard they were getting discontinued, which prompted me to get a bottle of it (and tsukushi) about a month ago, didn't realize that it's not available anymore! I'm so sorry!

This is by far the best ink searching I've ever seen! Your technique brings out the full scoop the ink properties within reason (I find swaps with qtips to be too much) and very aesthetically pleasing.
I do believe the term you're looking for with the 'duel colors) is chorma-shading and something I absolutely love (I'll be getting a bottle of Roberts after winter).

YOur ink swatches are incredible. Unique take on how to get that shape, I've used a stencil but then you get the bleed through underneath.
Vert Olive is my all time favourite green.
There are few other greens I can recommend: Birmingham Pen Co - Lichen Watermark, Kentucky Bluegrass. Diamine's Green Umber. Colorverse's Brane, Crab Nebula and NGC1850 (glistening).

I went down this rabbit hole, spent lots of money and have no regrets! At first I thought I was looking for "my green", but, as this page and video show, variety suits greens better than uniformity, so I now have -sigh- a variety of pens with a variety of greens and browns in a variety of nibs, which makes a nice, natural background field for occasional highlights in orange, pink or violet.

R&K Alt-Goldgrün looks much brighter in a pen, close to Vert Olive. It has a lot of shading and I like it bc of the unique color and the very pleasant flow of ink. R&K is a German brand and you get a lot of ink for a reasonable price over here. All the colors I tested so far were intense and on the wet side without sheen.

Olive Green is one of those colours which can be seen very differently. If you look at some drops of very tasty actual Olive Oil, it looks like that of J. Herbin.
If you look at a military vehicle (sometimes also referred to as "olive green"), it will be most likely very much darker into brown or almost black. And actual Olives can be anything from a broken yellow to a saturated brown-green or even sepia or black.
One that was missed here was Graf von Faber Castell "Olive Green". They do not sell samples, but you could get a package of cardridges and cannibalise them for a swatch. No sheen, but a nice shader and a good, friendly looking writing ink.

    • @lianelikes

You’re absolutely right, olive green has such color variation that one might have to break it up into sub-categories for a thorough ink comparison! I will have to try Faber Castell’s olive green, great idea with using up an ink cartridge, I will always try lovely shading inks.
