as someone who plays this on the quest alot turn off the bullet indicators it takes away that big red marker that blinds you some times plus you will still see the bullets coming anyways trust me it makes it more fun to
Exactly! I also turned off the HUD and even the number which shows the amount of bullets left in your clip. This makes the game so much more immersive. The HUD on the bottom doesn't really give important information anyway. At least not to the amount that i use it to change my gameplay tactics. You should give it a try!
@@benl.ofthegamecatarmy For me personally it only causes confusion. Since these markers don't point to the enemies but to the bullets they've fired. It happend a lot that i suddenly see this marker appear next to me which forces me to look in that direction only to confirm that this area has already been cleared of enemies. This makes me vulnerable for attacks from the other side and lose concentration trying to sync all my shots on the beat. One such instances can mess up your high score, especially on Hard difficulty.
Played this for hours on my Quest, so much that I instinctively kept moving my head throughout this video lol The highest difficulty is one of the best VR games for a nice home workout, especially in these post-apocalyptic times. Really glad PSVR players can enjoy it now!
I play on Saturday for about an hour. It wasn't until Tuesday that my legs were back to normal. They hurt SO bad. I was really getting into it, firing from my knees at time then hopping back up. Was not expecting that. I absolutely love it.
The editing is really superb, in this review. It's almost always pretty flawless, but something in this video just shines over the rest. Compliment time has now ended. Thank you, and you're welcome.
Pistol whip has been my latest addiction since it's release. It's such a blast. Can't wait for all the new additions they are putting in. Great review Bryan
The biggest surprise of my 6 months PSVR2 life! I`m a guy 60+ doing RW tactical shooting with a 9mm Sig Sauer Legion X5 and have always looked at the flat screen demos of Pistol Wip as cartoonish and stayed out. Boy was I wrong. It`s a FANTASTIC game! And u dont have to be a rw tactical shooter to enjoy this game tremendeously. The cartoonish style actualy adds to the gameplay and reloading is as simple as moving your hand down to your hip. A Must have for any psvr2 player. And this months its even free on ps+. Its just fantastic. Prepare fore some cardio and a sweat. Gotta be played standing to dogde incoming bullets fully. Semper fi!
Looks fun, it's not for me but I tune in anyway to hear the stellar review skills. None of that cookie cutter, uninspired, boring monologue here and I appreciate the effort.
Absolutely love this game. Bad ass mode engaged, ala Superhot / beat saber. Its definitely up there. Great tip about the metronome option, thanks. Didn't spot that.
Best tip I've got for this game is: slightly bounce the gun to the metronome vibration; i try to shoot as the gun comes back down though when it gets really intense that kinda goes out the window
You had me wondering if you were going to like it after the gamescast. Some of the most fun I have had in VR is with this game. Makes me feel so bad ass.
Only had a couple sessions with this before I had to go out of town. Finished Easy and Normal, enjoyed it, and looking forward to Hard. Be nice if there is a PW2 with the graphical improvement of a CrisisVrigade2.
Fat, old lazy me hates hearing the phrase "shockingly great workout"......yet I still need to have this game in my library. 😉 Great review as always sir.
big fan of yours, really enjoy your description of what to expect in terms of gameplay, might pull trigger on this game for psvr2!! no pun intended LOL cheers
I don't own a PSVR anymore, but still I enjoy watching your review for this games that are also on my Quest. Still my go-to VR news and reviews channel 👌
@@NeoHD23 Dude... I don't think I have to point out why. Quest is just a million times better than PSVR in so many levels. Have you ever owned a Quest? Do you know the basic differences between a Quest and a PSVR? I'm not saying PSVR is not cool, just that if you have the money for a Quest, it's much more worth it imo.
@@DissTrackTed Yeah I completely get it, I almost fell into that but I managed to admit how unhappy I was with the PSVR. It's a great and cheap piece of tech, but it wasn't for me. It did not fullfill my VR dream, and I expected too much. I tried to ignore it's flaws that I read about before buying it and they came to my reality and ended up biting my ass. The Quest finally has scratched that VR itch I have had for the past few years, and I'm extremely happy. Still, Quest is not and never will have the amount of excelent content on PSVR.
This game is an absolute blast. My lower back was actually sore from basically limboing to avoid bullets. Sad to see the collision detection isn't just me though. Thought it was my own crappy tracking setup
I had the same reaction as you did at first: It's obvious you're pointing a giant cone toward enemies more than pointing a gun (kind of like Cold Iron). I really like Pistol Whip and, like you say, it's such a vastly customizable experience with all of the mods they have. I didn't find any hard mode stages to be too tough when I treat it like a typical wave shooter and the quality of that experience is solid if not the best, to me, as far as shooters go. The gameplay is great action movie intensity, if kind of samey after a while (music isn't my favorite, not really up there with Beat Saber's original music). The main thing for me for trying to shoot to the beat is that I feel absolutely ridiculous when I get KILLED during a stage for it as I compromised my survival in doing so and ruined my whole run of the stage. It makes me wish that the score chasing in Pistol Whip wasn't so divorced from surviving like that . . . I thought about it and wished there was some mod that (for example) made enemies vulnerable or more vulnerable IF you shot them on the beat, or maybe offered some kind of power-up, so score chasing actually coincided with surviving. As it is it's a pretty bizarre game that way: score-chasing compromises survival. Very weird. I like Pistol Whip a lot though. I got the most fun out of dual-wielding which felt way more intense!
Hi guys. Is this game a must buy? Been away from vr for a while since lockdown over here as been playing witcher 3. Looking for a game to get me back into VR.
It depends. If you’ve been gone for awhile there are a ton of awesome games on sale right now. And if you don’t own Beat Saber yet, I’d pick that up before Pistol Whip. :D
Great great game. I didn't like it at first until I started playing with the modifiers- dual pistols, aim assist on/off, hard mode about triples the guys coming at you... An hour in, you forget it's a rail-shooter and feel like John Wick meets Equilibrium.
Am I the only one who can't watch VR games videos without tilting my head when the camera does? Especially for this kind of FPS games :D As for other kinds of music for rythm games, how about Pistol Whip introduces a course with Through the Fire and Flames and the soundtrack, that would be awesome... At first :D
I have this on my Oculus Quest. It is a very good game but definitely not worth $25 on the store. Not enough variety or game modes. I love the classic arcade feel I get though!! Can't wait for the content updates in the future! :)
Hello epileptic seizures with all those lights effect. Have you noticed in the options any way to tone down those visual effects? Otherwise, there's a big chance that I will do the bacon on the floor. Even if my condition is very minor.
I'm with you on those annoying flash lights and stupid screen shake gimmicks in games/movies, and ridiculous dumb len flares in movies. Most game developers have no respect for our well being...
Nice review Bryan, So I have one question that you may or may not like to answer (apologies in advance for mentioning another platform) As I rushed out to buy this on day one on quest, is there any reason to double dip into PSVR? How do you find the headset cable? Did it get in the way? And are the playlists the same? It’s always nice to see how well I do compared with my psvr friends so that’s probably my main reason to get it, though I can never compete with the likes of AJ on these things lol
While I enjoy the game, it was kinda misleading to have a lot of dual wielding in the trailer/on the cover image, when the main way to play is single handed, and dual wielding brings down your score
@@WithoutParole Thanks! This totally just made my day!!!!! Hopefully this will also be included with original game? (I’d would still totally pay even if it’s an add on) This game is really fun and a fantastic workout!
I just bought this game. Played it with aim assist on for about an hour. Turned aim assist off and realized that I will never turn it on again. It makes easy mode hard and it is so satisfying to play without aim assist. If you want to dance, keep aim assist on. If you want to play a game, turn it off.
There's SOME truth to that on the default settings. Thing is, you can turn on modifiers like taking away all auto-aim, get rid of the obstacles that make you have to move, two guns, etc. I think it's a lot of fun to play it a variety of ways, but granted the game is a little off-beat. ;) Not my favorite shooter on PSVR though. But Superhot? Not sure where you can find something else like that. Actually, if you want a shooter with a pervasive slow-mo feature (in which you have to hit particular targets when it happens), Unearthing Mars 2 does, which IMO is the most underrated VR game I know of.
The fact that you're moving forwards in the game could potentially make you motion sick, but it's always a constant, steady movement. No speed changes, height changes, or rotation. All the movement besides the constant forward momentum is all done by you moving in real-life, so this game isn't really super intensive in the motion sickness department
If you're planning on getting a PSVR2 then probably Pistol Whip since there'll be a free upgrade and there's been a lot of post-launch support (and free content) from the devs... Both are good but for me Fracked was a 2.5 hour game that I didn't feel the need to play through more than once
I just wish you could deflect the bullets like in superhot rather than having to physically dodge them. Don’t get me wrong I still love the game but IMHO that would be a far more enjoyable experience.
