I loved this song and this episode as youth when I first started watching Touched by an Angel. I loved it then I love it now. Bless the name of the Lord from now and to forever!
Here's a reverse: a great black singer who covers an Elvis song -- first recorded only by Elvis (written for him by W. Earl Brown). Della, of course, is always great too. But, it's nice to see her interpreting a definitive Elvis track. The closing number in Elvis' classic '68 Special...a powerful gospel song that put Elvis back on top of the charts at the end of the 60's. A song that today, would be equally important. Della's gospel take is warm and beautiful.
@Mark Cazan- There's a documentary on RUclips about the black community & Elvis that should put those rumors to rest. Many of the comments come from leading Black entertainers, reverends, musicians, other vocalists, actors, actresses, & sports figures (Ali). A racist doesn't hire Black singers in his group & only allows his Black cook (for over 30 years) to fix his meals & eat with him in the kitchen, then buys her a house of her own. But then, researching that kind of truth would take too long. Many of the younger people can't read much more than 186 characters anyway.
Fantastic! This is better than Elvis! This lady's right up there with my all-time favorite singers ever. If "Angel" fans discovered her musical career thanks to the show, they found just how great a singer, performer, interpreter, actress, preacher, and all-around great (and funny) lady she was. I was a fan long before "Angel", and I always will be. I love Della! RIP.
Love Della but It should be a crime to butcher a beautiful song the way she did with this song! This is an awful rendition it sounds nothing like the original. Wow. This was not the song for her to cover.
OMG I can't say this enough, I love this person.
One of the best singers ever. This Is a great performance by the wonderful Della Reese.
Gotta love Della Reese she is outstanding!

Thank you della/tess. Truly enjoyed your singing and you playing Tess.
I love this song. When I go through tough times, I think of this song, occasionally sing it, though most likely, I can't sing it like Della Reese can.
So much passion in her singing! Love it!
I love her singing this song of hope. I hope it lifts someone up to the challenges that they are facing!
Great song sang beautifully by Ms. Reese. I loved the warmth of her voice.
