Remember watch my mother and father dancing off and listening to this song back in the day and remember the day my father was killed in an accident in Washington DC, My mother listened to this song and cried her heart out because the love of her life was taken away, Today, I know what "Your Precious Love " Means to me, It mean I can't take the One I LOVE most for granted, because one day, I or they may never come back HOME! Great song brings back precious memories... REAL MUSIC :)
My mother, who is 64 now, and I were listening to this song in the car the other day. She hadn't heard it in years. Toward the end of the song, she got real still, looking at the CD player with a sad look on her face that I've never seen. Tears rolled down. She hurried up and wiped them ( my mother never cries and when she does she doesn't want anybody to see her). My heart for her was really touched. I could not stop thinking about that song and my mom's reaction to it. I waited a day or so. The next day, as I was getting out of the car, I paused and asked her: mom, you remember that song that we were listening to the other day? It seem like you really got touched. What were you thinking about?" She looked at me with this "please don't make me talk about that" look, and then she said, "I was thinking about how I ruined my life". She began to share with me that around the time that song was popular, she was 19 years old. She was in love with a nice young man. His dad did not like my mom, he felt like she wasn't good enough for him. (my mom was raised in the poorer side of their town) And because that relationship that wasn't allowed, my mom ended up meeting my dad. My dad physically abused her in the worst way. He would punch her and beat her and once he even whipped her with a coat hanger. After she ran from him, she got in various unhealthy relationships; some would be abusive to her as well. Well during that time, crack-cocaine hit the scene. My mom did experiment with that drug, and wound up being a crack addict for the next 30 Years. Life was very hard for me and my sister to say the least. my mom's main thought and focus was her addiction to crack cocaine for the duration of my childhood. Me and my sister were neglected and we were physically, verbally, and mentally abused by her. Well, My mom has given her life to Christ now, she's been saved for about 12 years now. But I hadn't got the healing that I needed from the things that occurred with me in my childhood. Well, after my mother told me the story behind this song and why it touched her and shared with me the sadness and regrets, of her life; right then and there I got my release. My mom didn't want to be an abusive, crack-cocaine addict. Crack cocaine (and other controlled substances) takes the choices from the addict, and generations can be ruined. I even had a short stint where I was addicted to it for about 5 months. It felt like an eternity! So, its not like I hadn't walked a mile in her shoes. However, I chose my children over the drug. And I would always wonder why she didn't do the same. Well now I understand. She didn't know any better. No one was guiding her, she really didn't know how to guide us. I'm happy to say my mother and I now have an awesome relationship and she has a wonderful relationship with her grandchildren. It has been an absolute joy just getting to really and truly know her. I just wanted to share how this song touched me and my mother in such a profound way; and even brought healing to our family.

I loved Linda Jones but to say she would have been the Queen of soul or the best ever is debatable. 1st because she didn't live very long she only had two or three big hits. I don't think any were number one. Also you could ask 20 people who was the best of that era you have 20 different female singers listed. There is Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, etcetera. Everyone has rhere favorite , and no one would be wrong because everyone has different tastes.
My husband was my precious love. He died September 25, 2015 and I miss him dearly. Every time I hear this song I start to cry because I'm reminded how precious he was to me. God help me.
Linda Jones died on 03/14/1972, 50 years ago. She was 27 years old when she died. She was from Newark NJ. Iknew her, we came from the place, I am 78 now sadly, Lindas talent was cut short by many factors we still try to understand today.
This song really broke me when I heard it..I gave my precious love to(SLR), I gave her my heart completely only for her to walk away and make me feel i was never good enough.. Valuable lesson 😢😢
I’m so sorry to hear that I was going to ask if she was still living, cause she can’ sang her but off.my mom use to play this song when I was 10yrs old I’m 53yrs old now,my she RIP
Linda Jones had indescribable talent! I am haunted by the beauty and depth of her soulful voice. True talent lives forever! What a wonderful legacy to leave behind. 52 years later, we are still enchanted by her timeless music!
The voice of a woman who not only love her man but love herself enough to say and sing about the precious love that she’s trying to save...anything worth having is worth saving...remember that women of today
Linda Jones had a voice no one could match. She had a high vocal that reached to the sky. I grew up on this woman singing. Still love her to this day. She deeply missed. Thank you for posting her song.
She did put her heart and soul into this record. She sang the hell out of it.Such powerful vocals and emotions.Hands down one of the greatest soul singers to bless the microphone. She died way before her time.R.I.P Linda Jones..
Only twenty-seven yrs old when this great vocalist who sang with so much emotion,so much passion died quietly from diabetes and left a lifetime of music unsung...
I pray that one day God will bless me with kind of love and to experience it for EVER. I love hard, I want to share that love with someone that has that kind of love in their heart for a special woman. Love always, thank you GOD!!!
Love this song since my teenage years. Im 65yrs old still enjoy getting butterflies in my stomach. Love you Jones. From Cape Town, ❤South Africa ❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐
Her unique vocal skills and inherent soul are quite outstanding and very appreciated- what a talent! Thank you for providing. I remember decades ago I was so enamored over her recording of "hypnotized"
@@carlmc9775 I don't know who sang this song in the movie Ali but Linda Jones remade this song after Jerry Butler therefore she added her own touch to this song and made it her own
Ms Jones passed when I was 2yrs old, but how do I miss music like this, and the artists who sang it. That bluesy, jazzy, even gospely organ sound... touched the soul, invoked the memories, moved the feet... this was "sangin" at it's finest, a time long gone, a time so missed. Such a beautiful woman, who passed at such a early age, but a star in her own right... GOD blesses 🙏
Linda Jones….WHAT CAN I SAY?!!! That song always made me cry 😢, that VOICE of yours just chills me to the CORE…MY GOD, you left us too soon….I DO REALIZE THAT OUR ALMIGHTY GOD MAKES NO MISTAKES. Hope you’re in HEAVEN with OUR GOD!!!!LOVE 🙏❤️
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 This song is so HEARTFELT!!! TO ALL THE MEN OUT THERE ..when you find that woman who feels this way about you HOLD ON TO HER & HER UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR YOU!!! LET HER GO IF YOU CAN’T GIVE HER UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IN RETURN!
I have loved this song since I was a youngster. I am 60 and it is still on my playlist. I love her voice…today they just don’t sing like this..… from the soul.
i would like to say that i consider myself a connoisseur of old soul/r&b. i grew up( between 1967-1977, i went from 9 to 20 years old ) listening to, and experiencing, the emotions and actions that these old songs, sung by Linda Jones and others were based upon. I said all that to say ; never was there a better vocalizer than her, none of them could touch her for sheer soulfulness. Her body of work wasn't as large as a lot of the women who get all the accolades of best this, best that, but it was very impactful and still resounds even in these latter days....The Immortal Linda Jones, often imitated, never duplicated!!!....R.I.P.
Linda jones voice gave me chills, I was a teenager when I first heard her singing on some music show bk in the late 60,'s! I fell in love then, n I'm still in love with her music, hypnotize cant get no better!! Rest in.peace Queen!!
let me tell you i saw her perform this song at the famous Apollo in Harlem the day before she passed and the house came down with the spirit---i will and never will forget it. still get the shivers even now.
Ain't that the truth. Seems like it was just 2000. But I'm transformed to a time in the '70s when I listen to this. She was a thirty minute drive away. She moved back home. It's 3o'clock in the morning and this song is on the radio. I didn't care I took a chance and called her. She never moved back in but we got back together for a couple years. I don't remember what I said but the feeling came from hearing this sista.
When I was a young teenager. I always listen to Linda's music. Her music always touched my heart. Her amazing voice, hi lyrics really took me places. Thank you, Linda, for being in my time. Sending my love to you in heaven.
All gifts come from God but this voice! This is the most powerful! most extraordinary! Most beautiful Voice! I've heard coming from a female anywhere. And I listened to many!!! Believe That!
I love my husband, we have been through a whole lot in these last 27 years. best friends, soul mates. but bad happens to these types of marriages. I just thank the LORD for Linda. this songs helped me through a very grying time in my marriage. Thank you linds and to God who directed me to her song.
When I was just a wee tyke, growing up in Rockaway Beach, NY, my mother used to play this song. I didn't really know what it meant, but I liked it enough for it to remain in my memory for the past 50+ years. Came home from work today and decided to see if I could find it on the tube. This woman just brought my love jones "all" the way down! Bless you, Ms. Jones!
Joe Bukalew & I thank GOD for giving us Linda Jones & her gifted voice while she was traveling her journey here on this 🌎 earth & what a very extraordinary voice Linda Jones had 🎶 🎸 🎷 piano August 6, 2019
I want to go to heaven with God. Thank him for his grace and mercy, a love that I had before I knew what love was. Now I know and out side of my Mom and my daughter...... I want to meet and tell Ms Linda Jones that I love ❤️ her. I never heard anything like her. And I have music 🎼🎶, I love music from the sixties and I know the lyrics of songs that I heard when I was a little girl. . This is a classic. I don't care who did it first, she owns the right to the master recording..
T his song had meaning back in the day because a lot of guys were being.sent to.vietnàm and a lot of young women were missing their loved ones! and could relate! to it!
Some people have nothing else to do so let me tell you what to do with your thumb stick where the sun don't shine Linda Jones was the best you young people don't understand good music . you got to call someone a bitch or whore All I can say is the Lord call her home I don't want to say to soon but her music live on Sing in heaven my sister
im 40 years old n truly love r n b n soul music there r 3 women in music that i feel no one can outsing yet and i havent heard sing better n that is miss Whitney Houston Miss Linda Jones and Miss Lisa Fischer Those 3 women have the best voices that I have ever heard on a vocalist since I have been alive and no one can top them vocally in my opinion No1!
I've been listening to this song for many years, since I was a young kid. And, now that I'm in my early forties, I just deeply love this song more and more. Whenever I put this song on repeat, I just can't stop listening to it. I would just wrap myself up in her voice and just listen to the lyrics and then the tears would just flow and I just can't stop crying cause I just deeply love it. I try not to be a crybaby but this song and her voice is just so powerful. To those who never heard of her voice singing this song or give it a thumbs down just don't realize what they're missing.
@@carolynbarnes1791 I am glad that some people still do know the good & decent quality of music my opinion is that Linda Jones was one of the best female singers that step foot on a stage sometimes I play For Your Precious Love 3 or 4 times in a row ☺ just to hear her falsetto range at the end I wished her & Jackie Wilson had sung at least 1 duet together -Linda do a cover of Jackie Wilson's Lonely Teardrops Carolyn you have a safe & joyful Thanksgiving & Christmas 🎄as well 11-23-19

She is almost preaching on this song. She is really teaching a lesson, if you listen. Vocally, no one outdoes her. In addition, she is a hammer, with her gorgeous self! I am looking for a sister who can do her justice, vocally, as I want to pay homage to her for her birthday in December. I love the immortal Miss Linda Jones! @@@*** Sembene, in Chicago ***@@@
Lisa was very underrated.she has such a powerful voice that grabs a hold of your soul and clenses it. Her runs are great. She goes so very high with her vocals. The range omg
Twio dayz b4 my mama passed 2yrs ago since my last comment we were singing this song 2getha. Me, her and my baby sister. She called me the nxt day and thanked me. She said we really made her feel better. A day later my car got stolen while filling up gas to go see her And she passed while I wuz on my way to see her in the hospital. Linda Jones was such a powerful songstress. If she doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you must NOT be listening to the same song. RIP, love you and will always treasure your soulful music!💘💘💘
I don't know why I listen to this song she will bring tears to a grown man eyes and I have seen her at the Apollo many times but this song right here makes you think of mother daddy and wife WOW Patty LaBelle said that she is the greatest singer in the world and that is mad props
After listening to many female vocalist from multiple generations In my opinion Linda Jones is by far unmatched, the power and gentleness transition she can exhibit is astounding, no disrespect to all the other greats but honestly Linda Jones is your favorite singer’s favorite singer
This brings me right back 2 when I was a little girl & my oldest sister Brenda used 2 b jamming 2 this song! I just called her & played it & she cried!!

What happened
I just wanted to share how this song touched me and my mother in such a profound way; and even brought healing to our family.

i would like to say that i consider myself a connoisseur of old soul/r&b. i grew up( between 1967-1977, i went from 9 to 20 years old ) listening to, and experiencing, the emotions and actions that these old songs, sung by Linda Jones and others were based upon.
Ok sister
@@raquelwells9537 ...I don't understand your commentary...would you be good enough to explain yourself?

God Bless you Linda Jones, their is no one yet in my book can touch your beautiful and powerful voice. Sleep in Jesus my dearest Sista❤
Decades go by now too quickly, but THIS song by this Unparalleled Talent always reprises ... returns in ways no one else can HIT.
Smiles, hello Stephanie 🌺 ☺️
Ain't that the truth. Seems like it was just 2000. But I'm transformed to a time in the '70s when I listen to this. She was a thirty minute drive away. She moved back home. It's 3o'clock in the morning and this song is on the radio. I didn't care I took a chance and called her. She never moved back in but we got back together for a couple years. I don't remember what I said but the feeling came from hearing this sista.

Jones!

I don't care who did it first, she owns the right to the master recording..

im 40 years old n truly love r n b n soul music there r 3 women in music that i feel no one can outsing yet and i havent heard sing better n that is miss Whitney Houston Miss Linda Jones and Miss Lisa Fischer Those 3 women have the best voices that I have ever heard on a vocalist since I have been alive and no one can top them vocally in my opinion No1!
Really? 596 Dislikes???? 9/1/2018 this song is a classic and no ne can put their vocal spin on songs like the late great Linda Jones!

@@carolynbarnes1791 I am glad that some people still do know the good & decent quality of music my opinion is that Linda Jones was one of the best female singers that step foot on a stage sometimes I play For Your Precious Love 3 or 4 times in a row ☺ just to hear her falsetto range at the end I wished her & Jackie Wilson had sung at least 1 duet together -Linda do a cover of Jackie Wilson's Lonely Teardrops Carolyn you have a safe & joyful Thanksgiving & Christmas 🎄as well 11-23-19
I think she could he been another Whitney Houston . I love her music nothing like old school .
