Hello Brady, thanks for the great video on the Nisi Filters for the 14-24mm f/2.8S lens. I just have a couple of questions: (1) Does the filter come with the Nisi lens hood or does this have to be ordered separately, and if so, how much does it cost? (2) Do you find that the “lock-down” screw on the Nisi lens hood or their square filter holder leaves marks on the lens itself?
Great review of the high quality optical glass with some lovely images. The NiSi lens hood for the 14-24 that stops light leakage as well is very good and the option of using 100mm filters. NiSi giving you options for a very nice setup. Happy New year Brady.
Go for the "Explorer series" because they are the hardened type of glass. I broke my 150mm square NiSi filter last year while using my Nikkor 14-24 F mount. That filter holder was big. For the new Z 14-24mm, it uses 100mm square filter and it's dedicated holder. Yes, the 112 circular filters is the other option and yes, NiSi don't have any colour cast. So far the only competitor that I know that is equivalent to these NiSi filters is B+W variety. I'm fine with NiSi, highly recommended and a must for all landscape work
Was that taganack near T. Burg? I used to play at Grassroots in the Summers with my old band. We'd drive up from NC and hit a couple shows on the way. Did the great blue Heron too once upon a no Covid. Anyhow, nice images . Thanks for the content Cheers
Very nice! I just got the Z6II and the 14-24 2.8 lens. Up to this point, I've done mostly concert photography but am starting to explore more nature/scenic shots. When I bought the lens, the retailer was offering a great deal on the NiSi square filter holder, so even though I didn't have any such filters, I thought it might come in handy and bought it. Is there an advantage of the circular filters over the square ones?
No significant advantages, Possibly a little less bulky in your bag because it does not require a filter holder. Also since the circular ones have a metal ring around them they might be a little more durable. ( I have broken a couple square filters and have yet to break a round one) But with the square 100mm filters you are able to use them on multiple different lenses if you have the right adapter rings for each lens. With the circular ones you are stuck with the those filter threads and can only be used on matching lenses. There is pros and cons with each. Hope that makes sense!
Ian, mainly down to weight. The issue with the square adaptor is you have no way of using a CPL with it, I tend to use the circular type when I need the CPL and the squares when I need to add a graduated filter into the mix and can do with out the CPL
I thought you were returning the 2.8 for the 14-30 f/4 and the 20mm 1.8 prime. I’m really torn on which way to go. I have the 24-70 and 70-200 in 2.8. Also have filters that will fit the f4 but the 2.8 is sooo tempting.
I want to pull the trigger on that 70-200 f/2.8 so bad! how are you liking it? I was going to return it but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, haha. The lens is just to good. I still want to get that 20mm prime though for astro. I though about the 14-30 f/4 but just couldnt bring myself to return this lens, I think i would have regretted it.
I looked at these filters as I have the NiSi squares/Grads and have also bought the adaptor for the Z 14-24 f2.8 S, I have gone with the Kase 112mm magnetic system instead as once you screw in the base onto the hood all the filters are then very quickly interchangeable and stackable, I have the 82mm version of this system and have had no issues at all.
@@BradyHommel Not as yet but im waiting for the NiSi lens hood to hit the UK and will use the Kase adaptor with that just in case, once the magnetic holder is in place they are a lot easier to change out and as the CPL is so thin you can stack 2 filters at 14mm wide open with no vignetting

Nice review ! Does the Nisi lens hood comes with included with the Nd filter ?
Did you know the z 14-24 f2.8s hood fits the z 24-70 f/2.8s and z 70-200 f/2.8s so one filter system for all 3
Thnx Brady for this info ! Did you stack filters or just one a the time ?

hey mate can you screw a ND filter and polariser on top of each other with the Nisi? thanks
So you’re selling the 14-24 for the 14-30 or not???
No I kept the 2.8 version. I couldn't bring myself to return it. I like I to much. I still do want to get that 20mm f/1.8 though

I looked in to the Kase ones. Those definetly look super convenient, I want to try those out as well. No problem with light leak with them?

BEST Filters I´ve Used HAIDA
I have a Haida 10 stop It is ok, It will get me by in a pinch but It does not compare to the nisi. Not even close
@@BradyHommel It is your opinion, not mine.
@@joaquimsousa3319 so is your original comment I am responding too
@@BradyHommel Ok, thanks
