Very very underrated. This movie and Wag The Dog. Two pivotal films that reveal much more about american deep state and back politics than most americans are willing to stomach.
One of two films that writer/director Paul Brickman wrote that was released by "Warner Bros." in 1983. The other was the mega hit Risky Business, starring Tom Cruise, which was released during the summer around the same time as Chevy Chase's "National Lampoon's Vacation," which was also released by the studio and was also a success.
I love Chevy Chases early work. The comedy act he is exceedingly good at, being an over confident asshole toward the bad guys, but in a good way, a quasi-asshole to the good guys, and very very funny as in Fletch. Gawd he was good playing that character. He played the character in this movie with the same finesse. Thumbs up to Chevy Chase, Sigourney Weaver, and Gregory Hines--- fun movie!
A movie like this by the director William Friedkin was well ahead of its time and under appreciated. Drone warfare has only hit the headlines relatively recently.
“We’re not building missiles to fight a war; we’re building missiles to preserve the peace.” So said Ronald Reagan back in the day. That hasn’t aged well.
They’ve even predicted a future President of the US who is so elderly that he falls asleep in the middle of a ceremony, except that they show a General rather than a President. Amazing!
Unbelievably, this film was written by Paul Brickman who wrote the much superior Risky Business. Also, it was directed by the genius William Friedkin who made The Exorcist and The French Connection. What went wrong?
One of only two films director William Friedkin wrote nothing about, positive or negative, in his memoir The Friedkin Connection (see also The Guardian (1990)).
@homeaccount5943 I would expect 12% of them to be. These were background extras to make the world seem real, not actors. The movies whole point was that the advertisement showed the people they 'were willing to go to war for.". That's why there were no black children, no asian children, no brown children, etc. But blonde little Suzie was front and center the whole time. It's social commentary. It's dark comedy. Like Martin Mull's "The History of White People" series from the '80's.
It’s interesting that the drone is named “The Peacemaker.” More predictive programming: the Kiev-based Ukrainian hit list of enemies of the State is also called “Peacemaker” (myrotvorets). A coincidence? I don’t think so.
Thank you Marjorie Taylor Greene. Seeing all your comments I think the Jewish space lasers are coming for you. Wow, you really got triggered. Well it's about nappy time. Hahahaha 😂
Canadian comedy's finest Chevy Chase brought S.N.L. into the future. Drama character played about as close as a solid comedian can play it. Great movie, plot & actors.
Alot of current famous actors today... Guess Reagan kinda right. Like money to bank. Creates work. How much we have laying around? Olympics seems bit safer... All that money do other things
Deadly flying drones, ambulances ferrying weapons, such predictive programming from 42 years ago!
Very very underrated.

One of Chevy's lesser known films, but interesting to hear opinions about UAVs way back in 1983 at 30:34
“Just a lil touch🔥up”
Never knew Sigourney Weaver was in such an interesting movie she played.
National Lampoon’s Lord of War 😂
“It’s a hell of a way to make a living, but someone’s got to do it.” Chevy Chase is brilliant!
minds me of those classic comic
novels my mother use to buy for me. for those
long road trips.
Nice documentary
Gregory Hines is great in this, the parking lot scene...LOL!
such great talent for sure. I'm a 80s kid but still
remember how good he was at tap dancing. sad that
he went too soon.
Hines was fantastic in everything he did. Excellent actor. Very much missed.
thank you
THE BEST DRONE MOVIE EVER MADE !!!

never heard of this movie before.
Did Ripley stop thinking he pew-pew'ed her husband or did she stop caring or just never care? It isn't clear.
I didn't even realize they were developing drones 40 years ago. We're so effed.
nazis luftwaffe used them during Battle for Britain WW II

We haven't had nuclear war, have we? It's aged very well.

RONALD + REAGAN = RONALD REAGAN

No. That's based off of russians like bresnev. Watch spitting image from the 80's.

One of the three stars is black. 33% representation. And there are many south americans.
@mikeconey2164 Exactly.
Best military industrial complex movie before Lord of War.

This is why the f-35 isnt ready yet right?
they underestimated the size of the unmanned drone compared to current models.

I can see now, why I never heard this movie, it stinks!!! LOL😮😂😅
This was a comedy back then but today this is NOT even funny ..
It was'nt funny back then either , was a massive flop , I actually remember when it came out , even the bootleg VHS copies could'nt be given away .

D-U-L-L.
HK 91. the preferred gun for the occasional GRABOID HUNTER. Bert Gummer has one

Burt Gummer was killed by the graboids
Absolutely terrible movie
Thanks for warning me!
@KimSenior it's great
@@PowerstrokeSynd OK, I’ll take a look thanks.
You're an absolutely terrible movie.
an excellent movie.
Would have been great as a serious Noirish Espionage Thriller. Trying to make it a quasi comedy with Chase fell flat. Was a worth a watch though.
Taking the piss out off weapons and mass destruction is very low, even for America's terrible history of no sense of humor.
Ok Nancy
