I saw this film as a kid on T.V. and it felt like on giant fever dream. Nightmarish; but a strange allure, charming in a way. This seemed like the anti-NeverEnding Story. I loved it then, I love it even more now.

O'MYF'NGOD!!!!! You hit my dream cast and made it even more dreamier! Lol. Bless u for adding Susan Tyrell, how did I miss this. Blue velvet and Dark Backwards vibes
I kinda like quirky movies like this, where you can’t stop watching because you feel a need to know what will happen. Long time ago I had a good neighbor who wrote quirky stories and he would occasionally let me read them. Great stuff, I told him he should publish some, but he wasn’t a dollar chaser, he wrote them for his own enjoyment of just writing.
Time flies. Fond memories. I remember booking the theater. Thanks for your support. I post more of my productions here: ruclips.net/p/PLk3CReZFhoBeuMjQrOEiWdNI4ZvQYVKkM
Great cinematography and storyline. Very original. The child actor is terrific. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys off the wall cult classic movies.
Just wanted to say thanks for all these gems Donald Beast master with Marc Singer one of my boyhood films like Krull if you ever saw that...saw on wiki you were a producer on it....❤
Welcome. I appreciate your support. And, oh the Beastmaster stories I could tell. In fact, I told a few of them here: ruclips.net/p/PLk3CReZFhoBf5xLBuirsAAQHFTuabowE1
Motorama tells the tale Of young Gus on a daring trail. He steals a car and hits the road, To win a game with a cash-filled code. Weird folks he meets, both dark and strange, In a world surreal and out of range. Chasing wealth, he learns in time, Dreams can cost more than the climb.
Meat Loaf was a treasure to work with. On set he preferred to be addressed as "Mr. Loaf". When we flew him to location, he got as far as Sky Harbor International Airport, then he found out the connecting flight was a small plane (seats about 20, or so). because he knew Stevie Ray Vaughan , Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jim Croce, and Otis Redding, Meat Loaf wouldn't board the small aircraft. Production had to scramble for a private driver so he could make it to the set for his call time.
In his obsession with the promise of money, he steadily descends into ever more sub- human reality. Loosing an eye is highly symbolic ( loosing sight of who he is and of where he is going) as wel as 'receiving the mark' (tatoo). It required a near-death -time-reversal to save him. Which is somewhat like karma, when we are given another chance to make different choices and correct earlier mistakes. Good story and very fitting characters.
I had never heard of this movie before and began to watch it without having a clue. Then, I thought the story was nonsense. A kid driving a Mustang across the U.S. just to stop at gas stations to collect all the cards and win the $500.000 jackpot?... And no one raises an eyebrow when they see him driving that car, buying himself gas and meals and staying at motels? It's one of the most surrealist movies I've ever seen. 😊
So many great cameos. Michael j Pollard as grease monkey I remember they tried to make him a leading man in the 70s with Dirty little Billy and Little Fauss and Big Haussy with Robert Redford unfortunately it didn't seem to work.
Well spotted. We had a lot of ambition, but on a very low budget. So the production designer recommended we just trade currency for a foreign currency that most US citizens would not recognize. A very economical choice for us. At the end of the show we simply traded the money back. For the cost of the loss of exchange rate both ways we saved the cost of creating prop money for the show.
