YES! Congrats!! I started watching you while I was in nursing school (just for the climbing, since I didn't know your goals at first) and will continue watching your journey! It will be hard, take it from a new grad, but it will be SO worth it once you walk into that first job ready for it to be hard all over again, haha. I also totally feel you about that second college experience. I got my first degree in biology and looking back, I would NEVER have gotten through nursing school at that point in my life. It just wasn't the right time and I was so immature and uncertain about what I wanted to do. Living life for a while actually made nursing school a little easier with a bit of life experience under my belt. Good luck to you and congratulations again! Shine on.
Hey Michelle!! Congrats on getting into nursing school!! :) I stumbled upon your page because I JUST got into climbing (like 2 weeks ago, LOL) and I am glad to hear that you’re starting your healthcare journey! I am actually a RN and now a FNP. What’s funny is that I was also in the COPE Health Scholar Program which helped me get a RN position in the hospital that I currently work. Don’t feel old that you are starting late in your nursing journey, you’ll do great!! If you need any help, resources, advice, or practicing nursing skills... please feel free to message me. I have much experience to share and books/study guides! I am actually local... in SGV area which is near LA! I look forward to more of your videos! Maybe in turn, you can teach me how to climb? 😩 I am a noob! Good luck and congrats!! Stay safe!!
Michelle, I have been watching you for a while now and I have always felt connected to your videos. I found you from the climbing videos you’ve shared and it seemed like we were on the same trajectory there (although my skills have dwindled due to covid) and now that you’re sharing your nursing journey, I am amazed at how relatable you are once again and I’m so grateful for your transparency! I myself am 28, basically went through what you explained to a T, and I’m on my way in applying to PT school and it’s terrifying. I definitely feel all the doubts, frustrations, and uncertainties when I think about not getting into a program and it’s insanely relieving to hear you talk about this and articulate what I’m feeling right now!!! So thank you and I wish you so much success in nursing school! Congratulations!
Thank you for your heartfelt comment. 🥺 I was honestly a little hesitant to upload this since it's a first on this channel, but now I'm so glad I did. It doesn't feel like that long ago that I was wondering if I would ever get accepted, and if I didn't, wondering what would I do then? Would I need to find something else to pursue AGAIN after taking so long to decide I wanted to go for nursing?? But then I just had to keep reminding myself to embrace the Whole ride, even the scary parts. You'll eventually get where you need to go. 😊 I'm rooting for you on your journey to PT school!! Sending you all the support and positive vibes. You got this. 💖
ok i just finished the video and MICHELLE!! you are soo resilient and a beacon of hope and light :') it's so so inspiring to hear stories of non-traditional paths in the sea of people who seemed to be on a straight path. please do share your journey and can't wait for the next update! best of luck
Omg you didn't even watch yet when you first commented LOL U A REAL ONE. 👊🏼 But honestly, so happy to help normalize the idea that there's no "right" way to develop your career, or become an adult, or live ya life. Mistakes and setbacks are expected and welcome. 😛 And I'll definitely be sharing mine lol. Happy to have you along for the ride. 😊
Congratulations Michelle! Best of luck with nursing school! I've been a nurse for five years and you are definitely right about timing and things just falling into place as it's meant to be. I didn't get into nursing school during my first attempt either and didn't get the position I wanted when I got out of nursing school. I'm glad things worked out the way it did because I wouldn't have met the classmates and coworkers that I have now that forever changed me. I'm excited to see your climbing AND nursing adventures! ☺️
Thank you so much 💕 Perspective makes a world of difference doesn't it? Glad everything worked out for you and happy to have you along for the journey! 😊
Congratulations on being accepted! I’ll be applying to nursing school next semester and I’m so nervous! Im working as a CNA at a hospital right now, so I’m glad I went with the CNA route. Wish me luck 🍀
Came for the beginning climbing tips vids but this is also relevant! Are you doing an LA ABSN program? (north OC stay at home mom; my kid is almost heavy enough to autobelay so thinking about encore careers that have nothing to do with my econ major 😉 )
Yes, I am! There are a fair bit of programs here with varying lengths, and they are more competitive just because they're in California, but I'd just say to get started by knocking out your prerequisite courses a few at a time. 😊
Biggest congrats to you Michelle! I work in a hospital in Aus so it’s really cool to hear your story and your perspective. Keep up the great work, you’re gonna do great things!!! P.S. Thank you for the queenie update, it’s what we all needed
Thank you so much 🥺 It's really cool to hear that you work in a hospital in Australia as well! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised to find that I have more than just climbing in common with a lot of viewers, but it's still interesting to learn about. 😊
Hi! Just found your channel! I'm starting an accelerated nursing program in September too, gonna be cool to see someone else go through it at the same time!
Yes! So I plan to take out federal loans for $25,000, which should cover a good chunk of tuition. And then for rent and living expenses and things, I’m going to take out a private loan once I go through my savings from my current job. 😊
@@MichelleAlacon thats sounds like a plan...may be keeping on tight budget and RUclips hustling bring you extra cash so u never need that private loan right

Nice job! I did an ABSN program myself, it was super intense but when you're done it'll seem like it flew by!
Thank you! And that's exactly what the cohort before us was saying on orientation day! Super stoked, and a bit nervous, but mostly stoked. 😊
Congratulations on being accepted! I’ll be applying to nursing school next semester and I’m so nervous! Im working as a CNA at a hospital right now, so I’m glad I went with the CNA route. Wish me luck 🍀
Wishing you ALLLL the luck!! Working as a CNA will def help you with the clinical component 😊

How did you plan to pay for school?? Briefly could you explain
Yes! So I plan to take out federal loans for $25,000, which should cover a good chunk of tuition. And then for rent and living expenses and things, I’m going to take out a private loan once I go through my savings from my current job. 😊

@@met3839 Hahaha I'd have to hustle a lil extra, but honestly, that'd be sick if I could pull that off. 😂
Congratulations!!! I just got into my nursing program too!
Big congrats to you too!!! 😊
