- That the latest Acura RDX needed only a handful of upgrades to stay competitive in the premium SUV segment speaks volumes about how right Acura got it, as Zach Vlasuk explains in this video.

I love my 2017 Acura RDX Technology. Fast, responsive V6, great sound system. My wife has the Acura TL and loves it as well. Go Acura!!
We just picked up a 2017 advance package and are loving it! The J35 V6 is just a better engine than that 2.0T Hondoo is using these days...
I purchased a CPO 2018 RDX in 2020. I love my 2018 and didn't even consider the redesigned 2019 or newer ones because of their 4cyl turbo, the dash layout and pano sunroof. While I like the exterior design of the 2019 and newer models, the V6 on my 2018 should be bullet proof and the interior is just great!
V6 made the choice easy over the 4 banger RDX. 2016 bought in 2019 and no / zero issues to engine or car beyond a tranny issue covered under warranty and a battery issue (keep your terminals tight!). Dislike the infotainment and wish it had apple carplay. Also wish mine had a luggage rack on top. Run Premium gas and it is happiest.
Bought this SUV a couple of months ago and very pleased with t. Starting in 2106 there are new engine mounts to control vibrations which can occur when the VCM turns off and on. Lots of power , not direct injection so may not have carbon built up over time. 4 wheel drive is 50% front 50% back which is great in the snow. It runs on regular gas without a problem, which most newer high compression motors wont. LED lighting front and back and great sound system , cold AC . I also like the size , not too big, not too small with good carrying capability.
Bill Jones is the infotainment system horribly out of date? Thinking of buying one
No apple car play
How is the handling
He alluded to the so called "Kansai" engineering; in our Acura, we found the same. So easy to reach every control, no big stretch to reach anything and everything sort of...."where it should be". I can't think of a company that does that better than Honda/Acura; we were tried and true Toyota fans (still are) but a Honda impressed us, with the superior visibility, and the Kansai engineering. Longevity has been out of this world. My 2003 Acura CL still starts and runs like new--how can you beat that?
Bought mine in February and loving it.
Does it take regular unleaded?
Yes, you can use regular but engine performance will be minimized. To get maximum performance premium is recommended.
***** Nope. You want performance you have to go ultra.
Respawn - Agree, Acura V6’s require the good stuff (91+ octane).
Respawn bro is it roomy inside am a big guy
I see no problem with the dual screen infotaiments system... I like it...
Actually, I like the simplicity in this car... It is simple but at the same time modern and well made.... The navigation seems to be old, but I dont care, I use Waze or Google Navigation anyone... Sadly, it doenst include CarPlay or Android Auto... That is something very desirable in this car...
Well some of the reasons why people don't like it is because it is unintuitive and is exactly the same as the Honda system.
Acura finally gets that one right RDX ,it's really a wonderful car.
Are you still enjoying the vehicle? Any issues at all with the engine or transmission or just routine maintenance? Thanks for any feedback you may have.
@@stephensmith8316 Iv'e got one as well, everything is still good with our's, only real issue we have had is squeaking breaks. However the was fixed with the service and wonderfully covered under warranty.
@@stephensmith8316 I have a 2016 and it still holds up great. Im a Toyota/Lexus fan boy but, it made me respect Honda.
@@boredashell666666 Good to know. It seems like a lot of car manufacturers putting out 4 cylinder engines these days are having a lot of reported issues of oil consumption. For a while there, I was hearing some of the Acura RDX model years were having those issues, but I wasn't sure.
@@stephensmith8316 I have the 3.5 V6 so I don't know if they have the same issue. I usually stick to a tight schedule with annual maintenance and I haven't seen any issues with oil consumption. But, I barely drive 8k miles a year.
Love the new RDX! Great looking small SUV with a strong V6 engine and reasonable fuel economy. Plenty of room, technology, features and Acura reliability. Acura nailed it on the RDX. My only gripe is the not so nice looking wheels on the Advance trim level.
2020 here, this car is still amazing for what it is. But man that infotainment setup is a hard sell these days
I hope more people hate this feature so that I can buy it for a lower price.
Don’t see the problem with dual screens. infiniti uses 2 screens also and i see 0 comments complaining People are definitely whiners cry babies i swear
My Mom's old 2011 Honda Pilot had the same nav system...
I enjoy Lyn and Micah a bunch, but I miss Zach!!
Avoid paying thousand of dollars for an outdated gps and just buy a garmin from walmart for $80
Iron Shaft Or just use google maps on your phone.
all i dislike is the infotainment, rest is on point including the tail-lights.
+azkmn7 only reason why i won't buy an acura is because of the infotainment. so stupid.
Lexus all the way?
I like the navigation package. The screen is actually easy to see in bright sunlight.
Thanks for the suggestions you have shared here.
I love my 2017 rdx..
I love mine too!!!
Thanks, but would have enjoyed a lot more on the road, driving assessment.
Info not complete. Nothing saied about steering. Is it regular hydraulic cylinder? is it electric assist? is it drive by wire steering? WHat kind of transmission does it has? 6 speed auto? 9 speed auto? cvt? those are very important info which completely were omited. Size of trank not that important
Take it out in the snow, and icy road, would like to see how it acts, vs. to a Quattro.?
What is the difference in the RDX and the Advance
Does the 2018 model support apple carplay?
Thank you for doing this!
all lane departure etc crap is useless if you keep your eyes on the road AND ADJUST YOUR MIRRORS maybe you won't crash. 💯
my friend who works as a saleman at a Acura dealership told me the all lane warning feature is mostly often pushed for perspective female asian drivers
+billy black youre the problem of this country!
+Adam N. just know there's no knowledge inn the ignorant smh
Good for you?
Laquan c Do you have lane departure warning?
Awesome car indeed
I can't believe some luxury suvs doesn't offer a round view camera we have 2015 nissan murano sl awd and it is AMAZING I love how quiet it is on the road rather than our old 2012 corolla it also has super comfortable seats
moon roof not important to me. Makes it heavier.. don't need it. I hope it has cooling front seats. We need that here in Texas
Alicia Martinez Moon roof doesnt make it heavier... And the front seats have both heating and cooling
Basically a luxury CRV. I would definitely pick up a used one in a few years if I had family or pet needs
I come here to see people who say this car is a glorified CR-V
Looks good
what kind of gas i should add into my car
Water
My grandads old caddilac dts has 4 way lumbar what the heck acura
Dad got one this week
Why is it so hard for car manufacturers to make decent infotainment systems with updated GPS????
Car manufacturers are finally figuring it out that "hey we suck at this" so Honda's new CR-V 2017 only the highest trim level has the built in Navigation. Instead knowing most people have a cell phone, you'd connect to Android Auto or Apple Carplay, and now you have a navigation system that uses real time traffic updates. I predict eventually like CD's, the Navigation systems will eventually go away.
I mean, it took Toyota until 2020 to add Android Auto to their infotainment system. I hate how much vehicles cost and one of the most used portion of the vehicle "infotainment" is always slow to incorporate new technology.
Love this but may have to selltle for Hondad new crossover.
The exterior for me seems very Lamborghini-inspired... especially with the angular design and the massive front intakes.
I can't see a reason to buy this over a 2018 Honda CR-V other than horsepower
Drive both. Use your brain.
2017 Acura RDX's parrot nose looks bad, yet inside design looks great! Look at 2018 Toyota Rush which I believe is a beautifully designed vehicle although this is not a premium class vehicle. 2019 Lincoln Nautlus and 2019 Subaru Ascent has great look (inside and out) too.
Multimedia isn't important to you! Wrong! Too bad it is premium fuel.
MegaGuitarpicker You can use regular octane as well.
dat camera work at the beginning.
Will pursue as my next car, but concerned the headlight design screams "I am dated'.
Then buy the new one
aside from the dual screens in the cabin I have one small gripe
those turn signals on the mirrors look cheap as hell don't be belong
No more super handling all wheel drive ? Not buying this !
ballards02 It has AWD
ballards02 It DOES have AWD. Even the most basic type have it
just bought this car with 60k miles and it runs like shit shakes on the highway
Mine has 50k miles and runs like a new car. Hopefully your car wasn’t trashed by a fool.
@@broskoone It's a clean car inside and out but it has this problem that it shakes badly on the highway don't know what the reason!
@@trueshinobi1058 it has cylinder de-activation, so when it shakes it is running on 3 cylinders instead of the 6 to save on gas.
@@trueshinobi1058 try tire rotation
I thought the RDX suppose to vs with the Lexus RX350
Is that not the MDX?
I cant wait to get mine. I asked it for my birthday and i am turning 17
Was considering one of these but just discovered that Honda is STILL using a timing belt on the V6.
For those who trade frequently that might not be a big deal but in our case, maybe not. Very disappointed that Honda is still doing this. (It's frikkin 2016 already.. really?).
Oh well.
Would you rather pay $1000 for a direct injection carbonized valve cleaning? Or perhaps $4000 for a turbocharger replacement once your warranty expires as on competitor products using turbo I4's?
Not really concerned with turbo reliability but I am not a fan of direct injection. Incidentally, Toyota is utilizing a system that utilized both port and direct injection...mitigating valve coking issues. Not really a direct comparison with the RDX but the current Rav 4 has neither a turbo nor direct injection. The Hybrid Rav 4 and Lexus RX and NX have ZERO belts whatsoever.
Fact is, there are just too many options out there and timing belts need to go into the dustbin of history. I'm also irritated with the fact that Honda still uses solid lifters as well: Those might have an advantage on a smaller engine but not really on a mainstream vehicle.. and they just sound like crap. (Sewing machine anyone?).
Some people might not like this type of criticism but some things just don't need to be maintenance items and as expensive as stuff is getting? get rid of the timing belts and solid lifters. No one wants to worry about that kind of stuff anymore.
@@SirtubalotTX what's a solid lifter ?
@@aayonce4 Do a quick search. solid vs hydraulic lifters. Lots of info. Main point here is hydraulic lifters do not need occasional adjustments and work for 99.9 percent of consumer use cases.
Nothing wrong with timing belt. On J35 engines it is replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or every 7 years, and the work is not expensive. Timing belt is the reason why that engine is so smooth. I have a CR-V 2000, B20B engine with timing belt, zero problems. If you are a carguy, there is no problem, but if you just drive and put gas, then you better get the habit of taking care of your car...
This seems like a lot of little car for the money.
someone tell me, nx or rdx?
Twin Fun nx hands down
Twin Fun RDX
booo no SH AWD..
this is just a raised up tlx
wonderwall135 lol
Should have worn a beak for this review.
Ivan Vojt lol wat
the 2017 kia sportage with the turbo package is bad ass
Acura has gone to shit! Even hondas new Crv offers a heated steering wheel, pano roof and 4 way lumbar!!!!!
24/7 Gaming Ya, Honda new CRV "offers" meaning you still have to Pay additional money to get it. You could do to same for Acura, jusy have to pay more. But pretty sure most of us are looking for RDX because it have better quality material but not as expensive an Luxury brand.
reviews cars like a child
The head unit is giving me cancer
ruzzell907 lol it’s absolutely hideous. It’s a crime of humanity. If I had to deal with three screens and 100 fucking plastic buttons every day my eyes might explode
That UGLY beak grill NEEDS TO GO!! Blech!! NOT for $45K
interior looks very 2010..
acura rdx 2017 this is the worst scrap ever made, and the service is completely ignorant of repairs
The way he talks... Sounds like he is faking everything
Quieter than a Lexus.
an SUV without standard AWD, seriously? That used to be called a STATION WAGON.
Gregarious Solitudinist most SUV's don't have standard awd...
False
rather have a NSX
Acura is going downhill when Kia, a budget brand, has luxury and style, for half the price.
ruzzell907 Japanese cars > Korean cars. End of discussion.
ruzzell907 But Kia dealers suck.
ruzzell907 Kia might have better style, but Acura is more durable and better quality material...... I rather choose safety over appearance
Mazda CX-5 look better.
kingdarius5252 ikr and this is honda luxury brand and mazda doesnt have one . honda might as well pack up and give up and stick to their domestic brand , but i guess as long as soccermoms still buy them they will survive somewhat
As long as gullible fools still buy them lol
thehotsung8701A Yeah. It really
Mazda CX-5 is a station wagon and ugly. Drove it when my car was getting fixed for a few days and it was a piece of tin.
That poor mpg though....SMH
+Joshua Chastanet For the power and performance you get in the RDX, the fuel economy numbers are actually quite good
Boring car....nothing special. I'm going with a Subaru Forester XT.
You can`t afford this car.
EWWWW HE IS ICKY! GET RID OF HIM, FML!
