I’m not a bot btw… DAY 124 of trying to get you to watch the adventures of Puss in Boots (the puss in boots Netflix show) Also were is the click review
Every time I see the part where Greg's dad finds out that he lied about having a job at the country club. It makes me want to point out that Greg committed two major crimes in that scene, namely identity theft and credit fraud.
@ And yet, Greg managed to get away with it despite being found out. And that's surprising, but I think the reason why they let it slide is because Greg's dad paid for everything, but Greg should've gotten some form of punishment. Because, it would've been all too easy for them to ban Greg from the country club, and his dad could've just as easily grounded him for the rest of the summer. But I guess Frank (Greg's dad) was too disappointed in him, to think of a punishment. Though in some cases, having a parent be disappointed in you can be its own punishment. Because you know, you have to live with that guilt.
@@kaiseremotion854 That _is_ what happened in the book funnily enough. Well, sort of. Greg had to come up with ways to get money in order to pay off his debt to the country club (or rather to pay back his parents for covering it in the moment)
God, I remember physically cringing so damn hard thoughout this movie when I was younger. Especially the scene when Holly just enderman-spawned in the pool with Greg while he was naked.
i have a very distinct memory of my friend trying to show me the trailer for this movie and i literally ran away because my mom had impressed in my mind that Diary of a Wimpy Kid was the lowest form of children’s media. i was legitimately scared my brain would rot if i watched the trailer.
Ironic given the books are highly acclaimed and as someone who could read the series in 8 hours as a kid, I don't blame her for thinking that of the movies.
I just realized, the country club employees said they don’t employ minors. When one of their employees is a lifeguard that’s the girl Rodrick has a crush on and she’s about to have her 16th birthday
I was just talking about this with my boyfriend yesterday, in the Hungarian dub I remember them saying "sorry we don't hire people under the age of 16" but in the original he said "we don't hire minors". The Hungarian dub makes way more sense
I genuinely love the first 3 diary or a wimpy kid movies. They are comfort movies for me and just give me that nostalgia of being in middle school, a much simpler time. I also feel that this movie was a good way to end the trilogy, by Greg actually bagging Holly in the end unlike the book series.
In retrospect it was a blessing that the Greg actor was clearly going to look like a middle-aged Israeli wrestler by movie 4 and they knew they had to end it here. They could plan it as a proper trilogy and wrap things up satisfyingly. More mature Greg, improves relationship with Dad, gets the girl, etc., then walks off into the sunset.
@@NobelTheKnave Yeah. In the books Dog Days focused more on the relationship between Greg and his mom, while The Last Straw was Greg's relationship with his dad. I assume they really wanted the summer vacation backdrop for the third movie, so they adapted Dog Days together with The Last Straw. In fact the book they used in the opening credits diary was actually The Last Straw instead of Dog Days-that confused me as a kid since I didn't own The Last Straw. I always thought Dog Days was the third book and was confused why the scenes they used for the page-flipping never appeared in it. Additional fun fact, The Last Straw was where they adapted the "running naked in your underwear in a public building" incident for the Rodrick Rules movie
"I dont want to see Greg get a W, but I'm tired of seeing him lose over and over" is literally the best summary of the entire franchise I've ever seen. Every book and movie.
My favourite memory of this movie is the time I pranked the menace of my Grade 8 class by hiding the Baby sequence from him (and the rest of the class) when we watched it on the last day of school. It was so stupid yet also so beautiful to witness; you all should have been there
I can’t believe you skipped over the best scene: “HA! Guess who’s the laugher now?! ME! I’M THE LAUGHER! I’m the laughinest laugher that ever laughed!”
Hey spilling the milk! I’m fifteen and all day I’ve been suffering from a massive kidney stone. Your videos are helping me get through this. Thank you.
The other reason why the movie feels like it’s jumping from scene to scene is because they adapted both the last straw book and the dog days one into a movie
18:07 i thought i was a lesbian, until when i rewatched all 3 of these movies last summer & i realized i wanted rodrick to serenade me with that song(as well as do many other unspeakable things to me😏😏)
This movie isn’t bad, it’s just not as good as the first two. Even the actor playing Greg is already going through puberty. (If that wasn’t already clear.)
my dad and i have a similar relationship to Frank and Greg, so I've had a soft spot for this movie ever since i saw it in theaters. weirdly enough, Into the Spiderverse (one of my favorite movies) touches on the same themes so these two movies share a space together in my mind
There are some Dads becoming amazing characters like Bryan Cranston playing Hal Wilkerson to Walter White, Hugh Laurie playing Frederick Little to Gregory House, and I wonder what will Steve Zahn play next from being a Dad to an amazing character on a different show?
If you're wondering why the movie feels all over the place, this movie is combining the plots of the third and fourth books whilst trying to do its own thing.
Honestly this movie is one of my favorites because my parents enjoyed watching it a lot also. They love Steve Zauhn (Gregs dad) and he plays the dad role so well
There is a good show called The Music Freaks on RUclips that you could watch. It's a gacha series, but after a few episodes, the creator learns how to animate and it gets visually better, plus it's all voice acted as well and has a very Netflix teenage drama plot. I recommend it tbh, it's very silly at times so it'll get a good laugh out of you guys!
Reboot idea: Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Next Generation. The actor that played OG Greg is old enough to play Greg as a dad and you have his son be the main character
You know what else is traumatizing? Dan's childhood. So traumatizing that he drove a therapist insane. A therapist that specializes in the most insane patients.
This is unironically my favorite movie of the trilogy, yes i know Rodrick Rules is masterpiece but there's just something about this movie that i like only tiny bit more then 2nd movie, even if it is chaotic and little weird compared to previous movies (We don't talk about Long Haul. You all should watch the Judy Moody movie if you haven't yet. It was kinda around this time of movies similarly adapted from a book like the diary of a wimpy kid books i believe. We watched that movie so much for some reason.
The last in the trilogy. This was one Greg started to get a deep voice. But I mean. I still like this one. But Greg’s Dad is a big highlight for the movie. My gosh
country club wealth is throwing money to annual fees, initiation fees, and other fees. insane amount of money. holy crap the dad bringing a dog to try to fix the marriage nooo 💀
Fun fact: I took tennis lessons with my sister when I was younger. And when my instructor was explaining what “love” meant in tennis terms he used this movie’s tennis scene as example EDIT: Huh. Thanks for the heart, guys.

This is one of the only movies where Greg isn’t that much of an asshole and actually a decent human being
He committed CRIMES 😭
@starbxrst_nah bro he got the jeff Kinney pardon
@starbxrst_ The crimes were honestly not as bad as his manipulation in the first movie. It’s just basic white boy hobbies
