Spray your bag thoroughly with the water protector they use for fabric boots. I do it once a year to my bags and umbrellas, or when I get them new. It helps a lot against soaking problem.

You need to compartmentalize your items into kits so when you need to find things in an emergency situations. It just makes it easier/quicker and organized. Lots of good stuff its just all over the place.

I Like This Kit! Great Life Preserving measures! But I suspect you can trim some weight from your Job EDC. 4 x batteries of 3 different types, plus you have recharging ability, could be re-evaluated per unit/shift schedule. 4 x notepads plus assorted pens/pencils is a bit much. Your buddies gotta learn to Square away the basics. Sanitize the outside of the bag to keep OPSEC. Leave the Unliked Waist Pad in the vehicle since it's not adding value, just weight. Add Low visibility Eye Protection, Map/Document Protectors, and On the Go Protein to help you do your job. Thank you for doing what many cannot!

Great video, comprehensive gear. Easy to argue too much or not enough but in the end it comes down to what you want. My only comment is the bag screams that's it's a bug out bag and you become a valuable target. I'm sure with that gear list, you're prepared to defend yourself with a CC and keep that bag. I try to use bags that don't scream tactical or stand out. Not to highlight your RUclips competitors, but there is a channel GreyBeardGreenBeret and he packs a GOBag in one of 5.11's CC bags that is colored and designed to blend in. Of course, his goal is to use his bag to get him out of a situation back to either his vehicle, home, or other location where he has a larger stock pile of gear.

Great video: But I would have other ways to purify water. (Life straw) and maybe candy bar or something to give you energy. I would also have another way to start a fire. (ferroceim rod). You should have a nice fixed blade, plus a knife sharpener. I didn't see a sewing kit. Small fishing kit. Snare wire. Space blanket. Socks, underwear, soap and shampoo, washcloth, you need toiletries. Redundancy is key to a point. Remember if SHTF you want to have as much as you can in that space, and hygiene is going to be so important. Tooth paste and dental floss. I would cut back on note pads and put these items in. Just some suggestions. I have more but this is enough for now.

Yeah some of us carry a bag with similar contents every day. I keep one in my truck that’s almost identical to his with a couple of exceptions. I carry more of the flex cuffs with me than he does. And this bag is rather different from my true Bug out Bag which is the one I keep handy in case I have to just walk away. Also, my edc bag is different in how it’s carried. Mine can be carried over one shoulder or cross body so I can carry it while also carrying my full backpack (BoB). That way my edc compliments my BoB and I don’t have to duplicate anything. Think of it as a modular system. So you might want to rethink how you are organised.

Forgot to add on my last comment the need for an alcohol stove like Trangia type stove, I don’t particularly like Trangia but they have a total system, ie alcohol bottle carrier( totally leakproof) stove, tea kettle, 3 pans & handle& wind screen which doubles as a pot rack, the best & cheapest fuel is Heet in the Yellow bottle, during fuel test it was the winner on water boil time which is generally 8-9 min., heet won at a little over 8mins boil time against 91% alcohol, denatured alcohol, Red bottle Heet, & 70% alcohol. Good luck!

I like the long handled spoon. I’ve had MREs that didn’t come with a spoon. I happened to take note from one of the other guys in my unit who was a gear junkie. He had a spare MRE spoon interwoven into the webbing of his ruck. So I just happened to do the same the day before I came across that MRE without the spoon.
Also I’m looking into getting a simple 9V flashlight. It’s a type of light that is half the height of a 9V battery. It attaches to the terminals of the battery and is very simple. There’s a whole host of manufacturers of these lights. Some have red/white and/or strobe. Some have low and high brightness settings. The one I just bought off Amazon has low and high brightness and has a magnet to hang from places. Only thing I could use is a diffuser. I got the 9V light because of being in an urban environment, it’s an almost forgotten thing but smoke and CO detectors use 9Vs. So in a grid down situation. You might be able to scavenge batteries from everyday things. 9V batteries are becoming rare anymore. But I decided to include it in my kit because of how ubiquitous they are. I haven’t decided if I’ll carry a dedicated 9V. Maybe an e2 lithium.
You should look into P&G purifier of water powder. A lot goes a long way. It works as a coagulant and causes the suspended particles to settle to the bottom. It also chemically treats the water. So murky water is made clear and clean. There’s also something from Rothco called Chlor-floc that does a lot of the same thing. It isn’t quite as potent I don’t think.

Also I'm digging the WPS patch on your pack. John would be proud.

More stuff than I would carry, BUT this is your bag. I think you said it more than once that some of the stuff you carry is for your job. So, to each his own.

I have been watching a lot of gear reviews for hiking and camping gear mostly for the past few weeks and I stared watching a few gear load outs and yours came up. Some of my stuff id decades old and I thought this would be a good way to see what new things are out there.
It is nice to see someone carrying first aid gear with the them. I try and preach that people should always look at taking a first aid course before even buying a big first aid kit. Something new I found this year was Leukotape. It works as a strong bandage or tape and can immobilize limbs. I wrap some around a pill bottle or iodine bottle and it peels off and is good to go. It holds strong and works great for blisters. Not sure if you had any in your first aid kit, but I thought I'd pass on something I have recently found and that works for me.
The bag you have looks pretty good to. What abouts does it weigh?

If anyone’s curious, the bag is seemingly discontinued. The closest thing is the Trident (now 32 [Gen 3]). Vanquest.com doesn’t have a Triton listed, but the Trident-32’s basically the same with the only difference being the capacity (1 liter bigger currently) and the MOLLE. I have its little brother/predecessor, the Trident 20 (Gen 2). The 32 (Gen-3) is priced at $260.

I seen a e.d.c video I liked it. The man i the video explains why his e.d.c is what it is. Okay if you need it once you may need it again. So he carries stuff he uses not stupid stuff and not a survival kit. A survival kit should be something easy to grab if you may need it. Give you a quick idea if you spend you life in a city you don’t need a tent in you kit but lock picks and a key tool to get water would be up there. So you e.d.c. should be stuff you need and your survival kit should be geared for your environment. Now I travel all the time my bag is not setup because I would have to set it up daily but my gear is in my truck and it is a semi truck my bags are one sling bag and one big backpack and one smaller backpack I do have two more bags of different sizes two types of shoes too. Look at the military they paint the vehicles in the colors they fight in so think about your gear setup. And what it look like to others around you.

A clam shell type bag for the main compartment is better. Most SAR teams use that.

Impressive list of stuff you carry every day, I do think you will arrive at a time one day when you leave that bag at home or in the car and, then you do it twice, maybe three times in a row for whatever reason and then you will realize, you don't need to carry all that stuff all the time, it's a better bag for the car, and leave it there, you'll wan't to be more streamlined and stealthy, with just the basics like a small gun and extra mag, that endura knife, a small Swiss army knife or small Leatherman, small flashlight, a small Fisher Space pen, license and cards, cash. All that can fit in two pockets with lot's of room left over in each of those pockets if the gun is on the belt. My theory goes like this, if you don't use it, every day, don't carry it every day, leave the nice to have but rarely use stuff in the car(s). The only thing I carry every day that isn't put to use is the gun, it could probably just stay in the car except I never want to leave a gun unattended, incase it get's nicked. Having a gun stolen is the worst feeling in the world because you never know where that thing is going to end up. If a gun EDC is not for you, than I recommend super strong debilitating Pepper Spray by Fox 5.3, in just the 2 oz size, it can take out twenty people right now. It's good to have for first use instead of a gun anyway, the last thing you ever want to do is shooting someone, for lot's of reasons, but the pepper spray is no big deal legally and it sure beats hand fighting by a long shot. Don't settle for any other brand either, none of that dime store, check out counter, key chain pepper spray, it's crap. What ever works for you, keep it up.

EXCELLENT video Sir. Very well prepared. In these times, I WILL carry a firearm (GLOCK 10mm) for self-protection, along with those armored plates.
Hoping you never have to need them, the contents of your bag are quite extensive, however, I know they give you a warm feeling of preparedness where the vast majority of us will remain just "wishing" we had taken the time to consider a basic understanding of what is needed in an emergency.
Thank you Sir, very much indeed, for your hard work in producing this video, in giving us novices much needed information on this matter.
    Oscar
