With airway being the main issue amongst pediatric arrests... If there are only 2 that show up first on scene, shouldn't #1 be the compressions, and #2 be airway? Or at least get 2 breaths in before worrying about the monitor? Those precious minutes could be the difference between reviving a baby and letting one slip away... #3 should be monitor for infants and toddlers.

Ela - yes I agree with that for a 2 person team, especially since 85-90% of pediatric arrests are non-shockable.

Can anyone settle which pad goes where both for adult and pediatrics for both anterior/lateral and anterior/posterior methods? This always seems to be a point of confusion (and whether it matters for LifePack vs Zoll).

I've looked this up actually! Lol- yes it was confusing. The pad with the "heart" icon if you are using anterior/lateral goes on the left lateral side of the chest and the other pad goes over the superior/right area where shown on the drawings that are actually on the pads. The confusing part is the "heart icon" when you use anterior/posterior placement... The "heart icon" goes on the FRONT of the chest, and the other one (the pad that with the A/L placement was on the top R chest) goes on the BACK of the pt. So you should NOT just take your anterior/laterally placed pad and take it off and put it on the childs back. You should get new pads and put the "heart" over the heart. That's why the heart is there. It's for A/P placement. Studies show that you can reverse them and it can still work, but it isn't maximizing the effect of the current flow (or something like that!)
